This book was a wonderful mix of adventure, romance and magic! I loved the combination of fae, witches and humans.
I loved the enemies to lovers trope but I do wish that there was a bit more to the enemies part of aren’t and Hale’s relationship!
Overall, I loved the story, the characters, the world building. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I am so glad I picked this book up. I loved the twists and turns throughout this, and the different types of witch-craft that came naturally to the different covens. I liked that there was a lot of unexpected turns, and emotional moments. The only reason this might have lost a star or two for me, is because I feel sometimes this went into too much detail about little things, and then didn't talk about the things I would have wanted in as much.

Considering this is a fantasy, there isn’t a heavy overload of world building, so is positive in that it is easier to get into quickly and to digest but there’s no real concept of the lands, the fighting, wars or hatred between the fae and witches. Remy is a Red witch, which puts her in danger and so she hides her identity, there’s more to come on this and again not exactly difficult to deduce or feel overloaded with but you can see the plot line and concept so keeps the fast paced nature of the book. This style continues, with the main journey being written like it’s on fast forward and so details are glossed over or “experiences” aren’t added to give depth and understanding to the characters and the budding relationships. Hale and Remy go from enemies to lovers in the blink of an eye, or the turning of a page I should say!
I will certainly be reading the remainder of this series as it is enjoyable but don’t be expecting these to be colossal reads such as S J Maas fantasy reads.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Had trouble with downloading this arc, the formatting was quite bad so couldn't read it and it caused my kindle to freeze so had to give up. Book plot seems interesting so will possibly pick up and read outside of netgalley

DNF'd this one. Just wasn't working for me and read quite young unfortunately. Was definitely gutted as I was hoping for a new favourite fantasy romance series to sink my teeth into.

Sadly, the book did not hook me in as I expected. It felt somewhat stale and repetitive, and tropey, not in a good way. I did enjoy the author's writing style, so there's potential there.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC copy of this book, in exchange for this honest review.

I think this is one of those books which I should probably love, but just picked it up at the wrong time.
It has all the things I would normally love- fae, witches, great world building. Yet, I found myself not wanting to pick it up. When I sat down to read it I would enjoy it but I just wasn’t hooked.
I think one of the reason for this was the enemies to lovers- they weren’t enemies for very long so I think there just needed to be a little bit more tension there.
I did however really enjoy the found family trope- I always do!
Overall, this was an enjoyable read, but I currently have no interest in picking up the next book. I think I will give it some time and perhaps try a reread as all my usual favourite aspects were there. At the moment I would rate it 3 stars, however I think this is a case of “it’s not you, it’s me”.

I will admit I am an absolute sucker for Fae romance stories so I requested this straight away.
Many Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Voyager for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Review:
Plot-Okay i'm going to be brutally honest I can't remember much of the plot once I finished this. A lot of this book was spent with the viewpoint narrator (Remy) basically just fascinated with the male lead and how stormy his grey eyes are. That's all i remember, it's ingrained into my being now.
World building-What little worldbuilding there was, well it was actually quite good- I just felt like there wasn't enough of it and honestly it's where the writers style truly came alive. The pacing felt so slow it was difficult to stay engaged.
Characters- I had zero inclination to like any of them. Remy seems to know a lot for someone hidden away so long, Mr Grey eyes is all we see described in copious details as good looking Fae but that's kind of it- I didn't really get much development.
Final Thoughts,
Fantastic worldbuilding, but not much beyond that kept me invested.

I received an advanced reader copy of The High Mountain Court in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to A.K.Mulford and Harper Collins Uk.
A K Mulford is an author I have been following for a while, so when the opportunity came to read The High Mountain Court I jumped at the chance and was not disappointed. The High Mountain Court follows Remy; young woman who just quite possibly is the last Red Witch in existence after the Northern court murdered her home court and made Red witches an extremely valuable commodity.
When the Fae Prince Hale seeks her out in his mission to prevent the catastrophes of the past being repeated, Remy finds herself with the chance to restore order of her fallen court and to save the country she holds so dear.
I quickly grew to love the rag tag group that took centre stage within the novel. While I wasn't surprised by any of the twists, I found it to be an enjoyable ride and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This wasn't what I was expecting.
The concepts and tropes are overused, and this book provided nothing new to the genre. It depended heavily on the appeal of 'smut' in the book community, and disregarded all else. The characters were flat, the writing was too simple, and the dialogue was cringey. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't have a good time reading it.

Actual rating 3.5*
I did enjoy this book but found the first 2 thirds quite difficult to get into. That being said, the last third of the book is definitely worth picking it up! This is labelled as an enemies to lovers but the relationship doesn't stay on 'enemies' for very long, so a little more of that would have good as the characters did have great chemistry together!
I loved the whole cast of characters, they were all written well, and I did find myself caring about their backstory and where they were going to end up.
All in all, it's a good read with a great ending!

I absolutely love the combination of witches and Fae, the creative combination of these two mythologies builds an absolutely fantastic world. Remy and Hale, although a bit of a stretched enemies to lovers, are a perfect couple to root for. Perfect for people seeking the high after A Court of Thorns and Roses and the Plated Prisoner series

I will say the pacing of this book was off for me. It was very slow until the last 100 pages and then the action was amazing, loved the build to the story there. But for my first powerful woman of color witch book I wanted it to be more than what I was given it felt awkward and forced in many of the scenes with most of the cast.

I was intrigued as it has been likened to Sarah J Maas, however it turns out to be in the way I'm not keen on. Nothing was fully developed, even the 'enemies to lovers' didn't last long as Remy started to fall quite quick in my opinion. The spice also wasn't quite to my taste, but I can see why others would be all for it.

Unfortunately I did DNF at 40% - I tried to carry on but I just felt like there should already be some sort of connection to this story and it’s characters when it’s the first book in the series. The author had a great premise for the book but was unfortunately not very well executed

I absolutely adored Remy and Hale, and the entire world of Okrith! Brilliantly written, this book was completely gripping and I couldn't put it down!

I tried, but I DNF at around 25%.
The influence of Maas's books is quite overwhelming, and while I don't like the 'X of Y and Z' novels, I could at least get carried along in the storytelling to finish them. I really struggled to engage with this book though. Right out the gate I found myself questioning some of what we're told... such as 'red witches are hunted', and 'pubs are one of the few places that employ witches' and 'here's a red witch working with a bunch of other witches in a pub' who is now surprised that 'a witch hunter has found her' by page 9. I mean, if I was hunting witches of any 'colour', the pub is probably the first place I'd check.
With the meeting of Remy and the Prince, I was cringing a little at the 'banter' and how quickly so many YA novels resort to the male love interest blackmailing or kidnapping the heroine. There's nothing offensively bad about it, it was just too derivative.

I really did like this book, and I loved Remy as a character! I loved the premise of enemies to lovers (even though she fell too quickly in my opinion, but that’s just me). However I still couldn’t give it 5 stars
The biggest reason for that is that it feels rushed. You when you're summarizing a book you might just sometimes gloss over the less important parts? It kind of feels like the entire book was glossed over. Especially the journey, it just seemed way too fast.
Also, the big secret she has been hiding for most of the book? I loved it, don’t get me wrong I had an idea what it was from the beginning, but the way the author finally showed it was perfect.
All in all, I LOVE the plot and the fact there's witches and fae together. You don't really see that in books (or you do, but witches tend to be in the background and the fae seem to be more of the focus). I have high hopes for the sequel. I hope we get to see more of Rua.

Did not finish (at 33%) despite attempting to read this over a period of a few weeks. Found some of the assumptions to be obtuse (such as the “common knowledge” that cats like witches) which meant the world-building wasn’t always clear.

Such a fantastic debut, I adore this fantasy romance, it’s got one of my favourite tropes enemy to lover and an interesting plot , full of wonderful characters wether main or supporting they’re really well written and developed. Remy and Hale’s journey is so interesting I found their interactions so good, so interesting. I can’t recommend this enough and can’t wait for the next from the author
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
