When Harry (doesn’t believe in love) rents a room from Sally (lover of love and romcoms), after his ex refused to leave his house, the two butt heads on the concept of love. Determined to show Sally that movie scenes are fake, they reenact and film the famous dirty dancing lift. When they go viral on TikTok, they continue to recreate scenes. Will their roommate relationship transform into friendship, or even more?

I started this book as a bit of a skeptic, but found myself absolutely charmed by Sally and Harry. The sweetest love story with nods to all the classics along the way. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a heartwarming, light love story!

Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Any book that gives a nod to Dirty Dancing is a must-read for me, and throw in main characters named Harry and Sally? I’m completely sold. It’s like all the best elements came together to make the perfect read.

Sally is a die-hard romance fan, and her flatmate Harry couldn’t be less interested in the appeal of love stories. But when Sally dares him to reenact the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing, things take an unexpected turn. What starts as a casual social media post quickly spirals into a viral sensation. Soon, Harry and Sally find themselves acting out more and more romantic scenes from movies, blurring the line between acting and reality. As their on-screen chemistry deepens, the kissing moves off-screen, and things get heated.

This was such a delightful romcom, especially for anyone who’s a fan of romance movies. The attraction between Harry and Sally was electric, and their banter was fun, swoony, and incredibly sexy. What I loved most was that their relationship felt real—there was nothing over-the-top, just a genuine depiction of love growing between them. A fantastic read for anyone craving a lighthearted, swoon-worthy romance!

3.5 stars

I really loved the concept of this book and that the classic other gender roommate who moved in was the swoon worthy cynic on love. Who doesn’t love a good recreation of rom com scenes with chemistry between two people that is so natural!

For me the first half of this book was really great; it got a little fluffy in the middle but ended strong.

One of my favorite things was the parental relationship/trauma talk and how it affected who they are/became as people; it was very relatable. I also loved the relationship arc with her sister and both Harry and Sally!

A cute read overall.

Kathryn Freeman's latest novel offers a fresh and entertaining twist on the classic romcom formula. When flatmates Sally, a hopeless romantic, and Harry, a cynic, accidentally go viral while attempting to recreate the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing, their lives take a hilarious turn. The plot revolves around their decision to capitalize on their newfound social media fame by recreating famous romcom scenes, leading to a series of charming and often laugh-out-loud moments.

The pace of the novel is brisk, keeping readers engaged as Sally and Harry navigate their way through iconic movie moments, from diner scenes to airport chases. The constant references to beloved romcoms add a layer of nostalgia and fun, making it a delightful read for fans of the genre. As their staged scenes begin to blur the lines between acting and real feelings, the romantic tension builds naturally, resulting in a satisfying and heartwarming love story.

The chemistry between Sally and Harry is palpable, and their journey from reluctant partners to genuine lovers is both sweet and believable. Freeman expertly balances humor and romance, creating a story that is as touching as it is entertaining. While the novel follows familiar romcom tropes, its clever premise and engaging execution make it a standout, offering a perfect pick-me-up for anyone in need of a good laugh and a happy ending.

Any book with a nod to Dirty Dancing, and I gotta have it. Add main character names of Harry and Sally? I can't control myself. It's like all the good things come together for the perfect book.

Sally loves all things romance. Her flat mate, Harry, doesn't see the appeal. In a dare of sorts, Sally convinces Harry to reenact the lift for Dirty Dancing What starts as a random post on social media, quickly spirals and goes viral. Harry and Sally continue acting out iconic scenes from romance movies. But acting mixes with reality and the kissing moves off screen.

This was such a great romcom, perfect for those enamored with romance movies. The attraction between the two were electrifying. Their banter fun, swoony and sexy. What I loved most of all is that was a realistic depiction of love.

This is my second book by Kathryn Freeman, and I am a forever fan and need to read ALL of her books.

This was a cute little read.
It's giving dirty dancing with a nostalgic movie scene vibe.
Adorably perky and gives you the appropriate fuzzies, and was not too over the top.
It did lack a bit of dept though with the characters so maybe 3 stars for me.

This was the perfect book to help with a heavy reading slump. It’s light, easy to read and is on the whole just a fun time. It felt a tad slow at points but the writing style was fun and I found it hard to put down! Definitely recommend for the romcom lovers in the crowd!

This is an absolute swoon fest! I loved every single minute of the will-they-won’t-they accompanied by the classic movie moments that punctuate our lives. Definitely a contender for the hottest shower scene in a novel ever.

A quick and easy read for rom-com lovers that was fun, but not earth shattering. I found the characters a bit underdeveloped, but it didn’t keep me from still enjoying it for what it was.

This a cute, light read for all romcom fans. It definitely incorporated a perfect mix of the tropes we love and recalled many a classic romcom references. I'd say I wish the characters had more development Their backstory could have been explored more in-depth to add a deeper connection. The romance was a bit forced, and cheesy, and plot was a bit weak - it hinged a lot of making TikTok videos. I can't say that it doesn't work for what it is. The book and writing though is overall much more British than I am used to, as an American, so something that threw me off slightly. Some funny banter and charm.

I found this book to be an easy read. It was funny, simple, and really cute. I enjoyed it a lot, a solid Rom-Com. I wish I would have known that it was part of a series, but it read fine as a stand-alone book. Maybe NetGalley could add that to their descriptions in the future.
