Nobody Puts Rom-Coms in the Corner was a very cute and cozy romantic novel. I loved the unique take on the classic rom-com trope and the references to the great rom-com movies. The characters were fun to get to know and you will be rooting for them along the way! I loved this book!

What do you get when you cross a rom com loving coffeeshop owner and a cynical, doesn't believe in love builder that end up recreating famous rom com scenes for tik tok? Hilarious entertainment that makes you want to dust off your DVD player or stream old rom coms! This book is one of the most fun rom coms that I have read in a while. They touch on multiple tropes while the strangers to friends to lovers unfolds throughout. The characters are well written, the plot is entertaining, the comedy is fun and the romance is a little bit sad, but a lot bit sweet! You will definitely want to add this one to your reading list!

If you grew up obsessed with "Dirty Dancing" (1987) and "Confessions of a Shopaholic" (2009) like I did, then this novel is right up your alley. I don't know if Kathryn Freeman purposefully named the main leads after the classic 1989 film (When Harry Met Sally), but it totally works for this book! This book has the fake dating and friends to lovers tropes that are near and dear to my heart. There's no better way to describe this book other than lighthearted fun with an endearing romance storyline. It's a love letter to anyone who enjoys following social media romances and dreams of starring in their own romcom films.

Anyone who loves romcom movies will be delighted with this latest book from Kathryn Freeman as not only does it do a sterling job of reminding us about all those iconic classic scenes from romantic movies we have known and loved in the past but it also introduces us to two lovely characters. Sally and Harry first meet as flat mates when their drunken attempt to recreate the classic lift scene from Dirty Dancing becomes a TikTok sensation. With an eye for earning a bit of extra money various other classic scenes are attempted with unexpected consequences.
As always the story sparkles with wit and undeniable charm and whilst it's not all plain sailing for our romantic heroes there is something rather whimsical about the story which really appealed to me. I loved getting to know both Sally and Harry, they are both delightful characters. Sally with her head firmly in the clouds waiting for her Mr Right to appear whilst Harry, more pragmatic and down to earth, isn't really sure what love is all about however, over the course of this lovely story we see both characters really start to blossom.
Delightful from start to finish Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner was the right book at the right time for me and I devoured it in one romcom infused sitting.

Kathryn Freeman has slowly been sneaking up as one of my favourite ‘go to’ authors for a solid romcom escape. Her current offering was no exception, in fact, the content material was such fun that it was like sitting with a friend as you reel off all the iconic moments from romcom films. If this sounds like you, then pull up a seat and settle in.
‘What is the lift?’ Kitty let out an exasperated breath. ‘Only one of the most iconic film moments. Ever.’ …. ‘That’s just a guy catching a girl.’ ‘Just?’ She stared at him like he’d just spoken a totally different language to her. ‘The shared trust in that moment, the way they communicate without words. It’s a symbol of love, of belief in each other. It’s beautiful.’
Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner is filled with nostalgic movie scene reenactments from Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Ghost, Love Actually - just to name a few - and it is just so much fun! Stereotypical Sally loves all things romance yet her new flat mate Harry does not (and yes! They do the scene from When Harry Met Sally!) What starts off as a dare, quickly becomes a TikTok sensation with requests from followers to reenact more iconic movie scenes. Of course, acting them out slowly seeps into real life and then follows the usual narrative path with bumps along the way until the happy ever after.
‘When she said the next words from the film, it didn’t feel like acting. It felt like the truest words she’d ever spoken. ‘If I forget to tell you later, thank you. I had a really amazing time tonight.’
Apart from all the fun movie references, I truly appreciated Kathryn’s efforts to capture true to life feelings that are often associated with the genders. Sally with her head in the clouds and Harry the not so romantic male. The light and fun moments are interspersed with serious themes of loss and grief, family drama and much more. Kathryn does such a wonderful job of providing two stereotypical characters who go both individually and together on a journey of real growth and understanding.
‘You know, in a way your love of romcoms isn’t helping. The films make us want the words, because that’s what steals your breath, what touches your heart when you watch them. But all the words, they’re no guarantee. Plenty have said them, and it’s meant nothing. Equally, just because the words aren’t there, it doesn’t mean love isn’t there. It means you have to look for other signs.’
If you love romcoms, then this is without doubt the book for you. It is fun, charming with great chemistry and vibes between the two romantic leads. Readers of this genre are sure to fall in love with Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner .
‘Isn’t that what life is about? Not how it ends, but the experiences enjoyed on the way?’

It was so good! I love a little “I don’t believe in love” to “I will die for her” moment! The author is Australian so there were some references I didn’t understand but still so good! You

My name is Claudia, I’m a romcom addict and this book has the potential of becoming my ✨ whole personality. ✨
I loved, loved, LOVED, L O V E D it. I don’t know what was better between the romcom references, the banter (😍) or the reenactment of the most iconic rc scenes. I do know that after this book, I want a Harry for myself. Preferably without Isabelle and with another mother (HATED both them SO. MUCH.)
I woud 100% recommend this book to every romcom, good banter, romance and grumpy-ishxsunshine fan, trust me you’ll LOVE it.
As for me, I need to read ALL of her books STAT. 🤷♀️
Special thanks to NetGalley, One More Chapter and Harper Collins UK for providing me with a copy of the book.

nobody puts romcoms in the corner has a sweet premise, a girl who loves rom coms and believes in soulmates shares her flat with a man who doesn’t believe in love. after recreating the dirty dancing lift one night, they find themselves with a tik tok audience wanting more. i thought it was short and sweet. an easy read

If you have ever enjoyed a RomCom movie, you will love this book! I enjoy RomComs and had heard of all movies referred to in this book, but I can't honestly say I have watched them all and definitely not again and again. There are simply too many books and other things I want to enjoy to allow myself to watch the same movie again and again, but I can imagine the comfort it brings for Sally.
Sally really loves her RomComs and when she ends up recreating epic RomCom moments with her hot lodger the sparks are off the charts. I loved both Sally and Harry and felt that their characters had depth and that there was real chemistry there. They were great together and I deperately wanted them to get their HEA, but meanwhile enjoyed the journey with them, several times bursting out laughing, giggling, smiling a lot and even getting emotional. I find it hard to put into words how much I enjoyed this book. If you like RomComs just a bit.... read this book!
This was definitely my favorite Kathryn Freeman book so far!

I will start with what I liked- the corny rom
com references were super fun! I liked the idea of them recreating these iconic moments, it was a cute ride. What I didn’t love: conflict between the characters honestly bored me. It felt really phony and easy to resolve. Overall, it was cute and those who are big fans of romance books would likely enjoy!

I really liked the idea of the story!
Maybe it was a bit slow in the middle, but overal I liked it.
The chemistry between Harry and Sally was funny and good. And I liked the Grumpy/sunshine trope and roommates situation!
It was a funny and lighthearted read with some more serious parts woven into it.
It was a bit cliché, it was a bit cheesy but it was mostly a great romcom with other romcom references. So I did really like to lose myself in it for a while and just relax and laugh.
3.5 stars
Thank you so much for the chance to read en review this book!

This book was perfect! If you're looking to break out of a slump or just want to be swept off your feet by the chemistry between these two MCs, then this book is for you.
Honestly, I loved these characters so much and it was genuinely bittersweet to turn the last page, knowing it was the end. I loved the emotional development, I adored the writing, the humour and just everything.
I was so deeply invested in this book that once I began reading, I could not put it down. I know for sure that this will be one that I'll come back and re-read time and time again. It's the sort of book that just makes you happy.
I'm so excited to see what Kathryn Freeman has in store for us next. If this book was anything to go by, I know it'll be amazing.

This book made me smile, laugh and get a bit hot under the collar. I loved the concept of acting out film scenes for TikTok, especially with Harry not having a clue what they were about. Feelgood is the way to describe this book. It's truly lovely to watch the developing relationship between Sally and Harry and to know Harry is well and truly hooked long before he does. Sally has a view of love based on romcoms and her late parent's relationship. Harry's is also based on his parent's marriage - which has made him a cynic with no idea of what love is. When Harry becomes Sally's lodger and they begin making fun TikTok videos - where will ir lead. Lovely. #netgalley #nobodyputsromcomsinthecorner

This story was so much fun to read! I loved Harry and Sally and all their little moments together, I think I may have smiled more reading this book than any book before.
Highly recommend!

Didn’t like this one but will definitely read from this author in the future! And would recommend her books to friends! Just not for me :)

She was looking for a flat mate. He was looking for a place to live after his girlfriend refused to leave the house he owns. They rarely saw one another, it was the perfect situation for them both. Until it got complicated.
I really enjoyed this strangers to lovers romcom. It was a fresh take in a romantic comedy and I appreciated that the author brought up the old favorites, such as Dirty Dancing to tell the story. I'd highly suggest you pick this one up for yourself.

Okay. I’m such a sucker for a cheesy, romantic book. This checked all the boxes and more!
Sally is a hopeless romantic who simply wants to find her true love and a HEA like the women in romcoms tend to do. Harry is a cynic when it comes to the fact that true love could exist. When his fiancé cheats on him, Harry begins renting a room from Sally. The two find themselves drunk one night and attempt to reenact the lift scene from “Dirty Dancing” and upload it to TikTok. When the video goes viral, Sally finds a way to monetize their chemistry through sponsorships and bring in extra money for both of them. Through the process of recreated popular romcom scenes, both Harry and Sally discover truly what romcoms were meant to be for both of them.
The banter? Immaculate! I know a ton of people who will find this book too cheesy, but I LOVED every second of it! I loved picturing these awkward people reenacting these scenes in a public place strictly for social media views. The side character surrounding Harry and Sally only added to the atmosphere and made it even better! I loved this from the beginning to the very end!

“Today, maybe. But tomorrow? I bet a good number of them would find themselves agreeing with me. And the next day, a good number more.”

“Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner” follows Sally Thornton and Harry Wilson as they embark on the weirdest of love quests—recreating iconic romcom scenes on social media. Sally is Harry’s landlord of sorts, and after they recreate the Dirty Dancing lift and go absolutely viral, they have no other option but to keep it going. What they did not account for was their in-real-life chemistry. But Harry doesn’t do love. He’s seen enough to know it doesn’t exist… or does it?
This is the romcom book to take on all other romcom books. This romance was all I wanted it to be. With funny and heartwarming romcom references and oh-so sweet scene reenactments, I absolutely fell in love with this book and it’s cluster of characters—I mean, the main characters are named Harry and Sally, need we say more?
This is the perfect romcom book for romcom movie lovers. If you’re looking for an emotional but hopeful romance and are a fan of that sweet close-proximity trope, then “Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner” is right for you.

“You once talked to me about bells. Do you think it’s possible you could hear those bells with someone like me?”
(…) “Harry Wilson, what are you trying to say?”
“I don’t know. (…) I just know I care for you more than I’ve cared for anyone.”

I loved all the movie references, and I definitely loved Harry, (always a sucker for lgrumpy sunshine). While I was so keen after reading the concept of this story, there were a couple of things along the way that irked me a little.
For one, the ease of which the videos were made. I am a social media manager / content creator and so many of the video creations had me confused. In reality they would require more than one camera for different angles, or at least more than one take... and the sound issues they would have had to dealt with. Maybe thats just some of my own experiences coming out, and sure, a romcom is supposed to take you out of reality just a little, but that's all I could think of.
Another thing was the money. I think this was a completely implausable part of the storyline that didnt really go anywhere anyway.
Also, I think Sally was a bit shallow, and a little bland tbh.
Overall the story was enjoyable, a little slow, and I feel a few key points brought up as plot points were not addressed later. A nice light read, but I did want more.

DNF. The writing is too choppy for me. I’ve red other romances by this author and they are hit or miss. I didn’t have any investment in the characters lives — their problems seemed incredibly juvenile even though they are adults. Happy to move on to something more engaging.
