I am a fan of romcom movies and books, which may be why I absolutely adored this book! The nods to all the rom-com movies made me giddy and the amazing story between Sally and Harry had my heart feeling all of it. There were times I was laughing out loud at the banter, times I was swooning over their romcom moments (reenacting the rain scene?!), times my heart hurt when realizing why Harry didn't believe in love. Overall, this was a fantastic read that I could not put down, and I'm a bit sad I've finished it.
I really enjoyed this! I liked the characters, liked the storyline and loved all the romcom film references. I would highly recommend this to all my friends and can’t wait to read it again!
Sally adores romcoms. Her new lodger Harry is a romcom-hating cynic. When they attempted to recreate the famous lift from "Dirty Dancing," they received more views than they thought they would, prompting them to recreate romcom moments in TikTok and fall into their own romcom.
Overall, I enjoyed "Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner," especially the nods to well-known romantic movies. I liked Sally and Harry as characters. However, I felt some characters were a bit too over the top, and the story dragged somewhat at times. Nevertheless, as a first foray into Kathryn Freeman's books, it was rather successful since I would pick up another of her books.
This was an extremely enjoyable read. Loved the characters and what the represented. I was rooting for them throughout the whole book. Loved how it was centered around movies that were classic romantic comedies that helped you envision the scenes they were recreating! Great book!

I took some time to read this book because I had to read it on my phone, but I really enjoyed it. It reminds me of "Better than the movies", which I loved.
Very funny with laugh out loud moments. Great characters and fabulous scenes when acting out the various rom-com scenes. For anyone who loves these types of films and likes to dream a little, this book is for you. Lots of romance, sexual tension, laughs, sad moments and great chemistry. You’ll love it!

Sally is a self-professed lover of all things romcom and Harry is a complete cynic to even the idea of love. When Harry's girlfriend cheats on him and then refuses to move out, Harry ends up renting a room in Sally's flat. After a drunken night which ends in them watching Dirty Dancing, Harry and Sally act out the lift scene for him to prove it's not romantic, just strength. They become TikTok famous overnight and decide to start acting out scenes from all of Sally's favourite romcoms to make a bit of extra cash. Of course that involves re-enacting all the best scenes from the best classic films.
This book is great! I loved the storyline and the chemistry between Harry and Sally is sizzling. The characters are flawed in a way that makes them believable and as a lover of romcoms, I loved all the quotes. So much so that I immediately finished the book and went to rewatch Pretty Woman!
This was my first time reading one of Kathryn Freeman's books, but it certainly won't be the last. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good romcom.
This book was provided to me by Netgalley for free, in return for an honest review,
This was a sweet, slightly spicy romcom about Sally and Harry, roommates and complete opposites when it comes to love, who team up to make a series of videos recreating iconic romcom moments for TikTok.
As you can imagine, they fall in love along the way and have to figure out if their opposing views on love and happy endings can ever be compatible.
I liked both main characters, and I thought the story was well-plotted. My issues were that Sally seemed unbelievably naive at moments, and a few of the side characters drove me absolutely batty.
This would be great for anyone looking for a nice sweet happily ever after! As long as you can look past some of the one-dimensional villainous side characters!

Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner was a cute romantic read! I really enjoyed the main characters but felt their relationship was very “insta-love” and didn’t have enough time to develop. I enjoyed the references to classic rom coms and connected with the author’s writing overall. I was waiting for that x-factor but nonetheless enjoyed myself!!!
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for providing me with an eARC of Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner in return for my honest opinion. I really enjoyed this book, its a cute, modern romcom with an ode to the classic romcoms many of us grew up watching over and over again. The love story between Sally and Harry is brilliantly written, it’s not a mushy unbelievable storyline, it’s completely believable and realistic! The side stories of sally and Harry’s friends and family’s really bring the story together (and is at times frustratingly relatable). The concept of incorporating social media (specifically TikTok) to bring our two main characters together is not something I’ve seen a lot of and Freeman has done this really well. There is a tiny bit of spice in this book but nothing too crazy. Overall a cute read!
Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner is funny, heart-warming and sexy, all at once.
The author has perfectly captured characters we can adore, swoon over, but more importantly, find realistically relatable. The interactions between our protagonists are so sweet, you will be cheering them on. And the social media aspect works really well as the vehicle driving our duo together.
Even the friendship groups and back stories of family (and exes) drama is fully fleshed and played out well.
There's a little spice to get your cheeks flushing while you read, but I appreciate that it was kept in context and the characters could still go about their day.
If you love romcoms, you'll love all the intertextuality and references. Read it now and smile.
Sally Thorton is a classic romantic. She loves romcoms and believes in true love. Harry Wilson is a classic cynic. He finds romcoms unrealistic and doesn’t believe in true love. After a re-enacting “the lift” from Dirty Dancing and going viral, they realize the potential financial benefit in recreating iconic romcom scenes.
As a fan of romcoms myself, I had high expectations for this one. It’s definitely a homage to many of our favorite romantic-comedies. I loved the references! (There are a few romcoms they mentioned I still have to watch though, lol). Sally and Harry have different views on love but that doesn’t stop mean there’s no spark. While there the center of the plot is romantic love, there is also familial love-how family affects their own view on love and relantionships.
If you’re a romcom fanatic, this might be a read you’ll highly enjoy!
This book was such a great romcom! It had me laughing out loud so many times, especially imagining some of the re-enactments that went on between Harry and sally! The love story was great and kept you wanting more and the characters were all so likeable (even the ones you might not like at first turned out to be likeable after all... im looking at you Amy) I would definitely recommend reading this when it comes out!

As a die-hard romcom enthusiast I couldn't have been more excited to get my hands on this.
Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner follows Sally (our resident romcom addict obsessed with concepts of "the one", "soulmates" and "true love") and Harry ( a swoon-worthy beefcake who doesn't believe in love and loathes romcoms). Harry has recently broken up with his girlfriend and needs a place to stay since said ex-girlfriend has taken his house hostage - thus begins Harry and Sally's real life romcom. They come up with the idea to recreate iconic romcom scenes (i.e Dirty Dancing's the lift scene and more) on TikTok to earn sponsors and money.
I loved all of the romcom pop culture throughout this story. I loved reading about which scenes they were going to film and seeing them hilariously take them into their real world.
Harry and Sally were both very likable throughout the entire novel and I found myself cheering for them very early on.
Overall, I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy a good romcom.
A fun rom com with just a hint of spice. It made me laugh, made me swoon and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

This book is a heart-warming love story between Sally, an enthusiast of romantic comedies and firm believer of Happy Ever Afters, and Harry, who has a more cynical view on live and does not believe in love at all.
What I liked about the book:
- It really was a fun read due to all the mentions of some great old romcom movies. For me, It was a trip down memory lane to the Saturdays and Sundays afternoons spent with my mother watching these movies.
- Sally and Harry were likable characters, both with strengths and flaws, willing to work on themselves.
- It was refreshing to read the way the change of POV was structured. Typically, we have one POV per chapter but, in this case, we could see in the same chapter how they were perceiving their interaction and I think it added value to their story.
What I think it could have been done better:
- At some point, all the references to landlady and lodger were getting too repetitive and did not really sound as an honest motive to avoid a possible relationship
- Sally has the worst friends in the world! I am not sure anyone would react in real life as they did, they just kept cutting her expectations of Harry and pushing her to Adam, no matter how Harry prove them to be wrong about him or Sally feelings.
- Although I am not a fan of third act breakups, I agree it made sense in this book as it reinforces the parallelism between the story and 90’s and 00’s romcoms. However, I have felt it was a bit obvious what was going to happen (I’ve guessed around the 30% markup), and it definitely wouldn’t happen as it did without Sally’s unhelpful and unsupportive friends.

Cute British romance!! I love a romantic read from across the pond, mostly because their slang cracks me up.
This one was sweet, the landlady trying not to fall for her cute tenant was an interesting spin on the “can’t have him” trope. Plus they upped the ante with recreating romantic scenes from classic movies for TikTok.
It’s not a brainy book by any means, but that’s the beauty of this genre! I started the year with a few heavy books and the lightness of this one was just what I needed!
Thank you to #Netgalley for this ARC!
This was a fun romcom with some lovable and relatable characters. The scenes from the various movies was fun. Some parts dragged a little bit, but I got so engrossed in it, unfinished it in two sittings. There was some heavy stuff going on that was lightly touched upon, but it somehow still remained light.
If you have ever enjoyed watching any of the classic rom com then without a doubt this is the book for you.
We have Harry and Sally recreating some classic rom com moments with their own unique spin, which causes them to get loads of TikTok followers.
They are living together as landlady and lodger, and Harry doesn't believe in romance and definitely doesn't share Sally's love of a romantic comedy.
But as they create more videos, well something changes, and I loved every last second of it.
But there is more to it than just tiktok, Sally has a fractured relationship with her sister, and Harry has awful role models for love.
Add in their best friends and you have a wonderful mixture of characters and memorable moments. And yes they do that scene from the film that shares their names!
I had a big cheesy grin on my face while I was devouring every last word. I couldn't have adored this book more.
Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
As someone who is a big fan of romcoms (too much of a fan of them, if you ask my husband), the second I saw this book I had high hopes for it. And now, after tearing through it in just over a day, I can easily say that all of my expectations were met. As our main character, Sally, would say, I “heard the bells”!
Sally Thornton is a hopeless romantic. She loves all things romcoms and always hopes for her happily ever after. After her sister, Amy, moves out to live with her less-than-desirable boyfriend, Sally needs to find someone to take over her spare room. In comes Harry: a builder who doesn’t believe in love.
Harry has never seen love in his life - not between his parents who can’t stand each other, or with his ex-girlfriend, who cheated on him with her boss. Love was never in the cards for him, and he accepted that. He wasn’t a gooey, romantic guy.
When Sally and Harry move in together and decide to recreate some iconic romcom scenes on TikTok to try and get some brand deals, they both realize that they might be doing more than just acting their love.
I absolutely loved this book. It has such a perfect combination of lovable main characters, a cute yet believable plot line, and some swoony, romantic moments. I was able to connect to both Harry and Sally, and I loved seeing their stories develop.
This was an easy read for me and an instant favorite. I’ll definitely be picking up a copy of this book when it’s released.
