Dirty Dancing is one of my absolute favourite movies, so course I had to read this! The cover and title alone brings me so much joy.

When new roommates Sally and Harry film their reenactment of the memorable Baby & Johnny lift (I legitimately laughed out loud while reading this scene), they unexpectedly go viral, sparking an idea to continue bringing popular rom-com moments to life on social media.

This story was filled, and I mean filled, with nostalgic movie scenes! It was so, so fun.

With Harry being a love cynic and Sally searching for her soulmate, these opposing roommates brought so much heated tension!

Harry was a big man with a down-to-earth personality, and I loved seeing him adorably confused by his growing feelings for Sally. It's a lot of push and pull between them, but their dialogue was incredibly addictive. There's a perfect amount of depth to their personalities, too.

So many warm fuzzies while reading this one! A book truly made for rom-com lovers!

This book is a lot of fun! If you adore classic romantic comedy movies, you will enjoy this and laugh your butt off!

Sally and Harry are unlikely roommates. He's a cynic who doesn't believe in love and she's a rom com lover who is waiting to meet her perfect match. One night while joking around, Harry says the big lift from Dirty Dancing is no big deal and that they could do it. So they try, which is hilarious, and thus begins Sally's booming Tik Tok account where they reenact other famous movie scenes as well.

This is a sweet, funny book that also deals with heavier subjects, which I want in my romance novels.

Highly recommend.

Fantastic! I was giggling every few pages because of Harry and Sally's antics. This book was such a throwback to all of the romcom movies of the 90's and early 2000's and it made my heart glow. I couldn't put it down. Honestly, go into this just knowing that you love romances or romcoms, you don't need to know anything else because just like Sally's love for romcoms, this book is all about HOW they fall in love rather than WILL they fall in love.

I am charmed and can't wait to recommend this to everyone.

I loved this story! It was fun and funny and heart-warming, and the love story is wonderful. Harry and Sally (how perfect is that?!) have such a fantastic roommates, friends-to-lovers, opposites attract romance. Sally is a hopeless romantic who believes in soul mates and loves love. She watches rom-coms and hopes for her own happily ever after, and she is the sunshine to Harry’s grump. Harry is more of a cynic. He doesn’t believe in love, soul mates, or any of the other romantic stuff Sally lives for.

As much as Harry doesn’t think he can ever live up to the standards put in place by rom-com heroes, Harry is pretty swoon-worthy. Just the fact that he agrees to reenact famous scenes from popular rom-coms is swoon-worthy, but he does so many other things that give him rom-com hero vibes. This book is a delight for anyone who enjoys rom-com movies or ever thought it would be a good idea to reenact some of the most famous scenes in rom-com history, including the lift in Dirty Dancing, the clay scene from Ghost, the fake orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally (hilarious!!!), and more for TikTok. Oh my gosh, these scenes are fantastic, and I love how Sally and Harry put their own little spins on each. Some of the scenes are uproariously funny, others are cringey, and more are romantic and lovely.

Though the story is light and swoony, it deals with some heavier topics too, including strained sibling relationships, divorce, grief, and troubled relationships. Sally and Harry have baggage, and Harry especially has walls built up. He has great friendships, but he hesitates to let romantic interests in. Considering he is a mediator in his parents’ loveless marriage and he’s been cheated on, this isn’t surprising.

Sally bases her beliefs on her parents’ relationship, even though they died when she was a teenager. I like how both characters have revelations about love, romance, and deeply committed relationships. Sally teaches Harry what love is, and Harry shows Sally more about love when the cameras aren’t rolling. The small, day-to-day ways you show someone you care are as poignant and touching as the bigger, grand gestures. And some of the things he says to her prove he’s way more romantic and in love than he realizes.

I also really liked the friend groups in the story. Sally has two friends that are the best, and Harry’s friends are so funny. I love the banter and teasing and how supportive they all are of each other. Harry and Sally are really lucky to have friends like these even though they go a little overboard in their fierce protectiveness or overabundance of teasing.

If Sally and Harry were real and had this TikTok channel, I would totally subscribe! Their chemistry is off the charts, and their love story is funny, uplifting, and romantic with tons of laugh-out-loud moments, sexy times, and touching scenes.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Rachel’s Random Resources, and One More Chapter for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

This book is everything I love about rom coms in book form! I loved all the puns and quotes and character development and the spicy scenes, just all of it! Now I definitely want to read more of Kathryn Freeman’s books. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it helped me think about love in a different way. I really enjoyed reading Sally and Harry’s story!

This was so much fun! I read it in one sitting, couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between the characters was palpable and the romcom plot was definitely swoon worthy. The MCs felt real, although I wished their backstories were explored a bit more. Loved the contemporary references and the fact that TikTok is a part of the plot, honestly slay, cause it’s totally relatable. Also loved the body positivity throughout the book, especially how Harry reacted to it. Overall a super fan read and if you like romcoms this book is definitely for you!

When Harry needs a place to stay, Sally agrees to let him rent her spare room because she needs the cash. Only, he’s bit of a grump and doesn’t share her love for romcoms. But as they begin to act out scenes from classic romcoms, things start to get confusing. Are they only acting or is there really a spark?

This is the 3rd Kathryn Freeman book I’ve read, and my favorite one by far. I couldn’t put this one down. Sally is sweet and sunshine-y with depth. Harry is rugged, handsome, and honest.

Like Freeman’s The New Guy, I loved the friendships in this. Harry and Sally’s friends seemed like real people with real lives. And they interacted the way I interact with my friends.

I love all things romcom, and I loved this book.
4.5/5 stars - thank you to Netgalley for this ARC!

When romance loving Sally rents her spare room to romance phobic Harry, the two of them are certain they share no interests. But when they embark on a mission to recreate some of the most romantic moments from famous rom coms, they discover they have more of a connection that either if them ever anticipated.

This is a sweet, fast read with fun characters. The romcom reenactments were a bit too cheesy for my liking, but otherwise it was a good book!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This follows temporary roommates Harry and Sally (no I am not kidding), and how they go viral after posting a TikTok of them recreating the famous jump and hold scene from Dirty Dancing. This was alright. As a self-professed lover of romcoms, this sounded right up my alley, but everything in this was quite surface-level, and the third-act drama did not really make sense to me why the blame was placed on Harry. I would read more by this author, but would hope for a deeper understanding of the characters, and a more fleshed out story.

With the MCs names as Harry & Sally, do you really need any assurance of what type of story this is?
Harry & Sally were complete idiot to lovers. I loved how passionate their chemistry was! The romcom recreations were my favorite which made me rewatch those movies all over again.

While it's obvious what the conflict was supposed to be when it involved a hopeless romantic & a romance cynic, the conflict did have its own moments in various stages. Few times, the same reasons for not being together were thrown around even though it was painful for both of them to be apart.

But I definitely enjoyed it to the fullest. There were so many hilarious that had me shaking my head violently! For all the romcom lovers out there, this one's for you.

CW: divorce, death of both parents, infidelity, toxic relationships, online harassment

I would like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Page for providing me with a free e-ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Harry, a resident love cynic, ends up renting a room in rom-com obsessed Sally’s home after his ex refuses to vacate his house. Sally, the proud owner of a romance-themed cafe, leases the room to Harry after her sister unexpectedly moves out and needs to keep up with the constant money requests from said sister and her boyfriend. While they couldn’t be more different, they end up finding a mutual gain from recreating famous rom-com scenes after a drunk post gets them viral. Through these rom-com scenes, Harry and Sally find themselves getting drawn to each other and the lines blur between rom-com and reality.

Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner is a good starter book for anyone wanting to dive into the romance/rom-com genre. Since Sally is one of rom-coms’ biggest fans, you get a fast-paced starter kit into the different kinds of rom-coms. Plus, the Love Bean Cafe is a hopeless romantic’s dream restaurant and is absolutely adorable.

While having both MCs being named Harry and Sally seem to be a bit cheesy/cheap (which if you don’t know, is the name of a classic rom-com duo), they do seem to mesh well together. Throughout the book, you get some nice banter between the two of them and it was great to see them recreate all of your favorite rom-com moments. You can also feel their chemistry and you do see Harry warm up to the idea of being in love throughout the book. However, there were some points, specifically near the end, I felt that Harry and Sally’s relationship seemed a bit oddly written against the plot.

Overall, Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner is a title worth reading and it’s a perfect introductory course into the genre of rom-coms.

How CUTE was this book! A bit cliche and over the top but I couldn't get enough of this grumpy sunshine romance!

Sally needs help. Her sister has moved out and she's in need of funds to help pay the rent. When she took in Harry, recommended as a temporary tenant from a friend, she had no idea how much her life was about to change.

After watching Dirty Dancing one night, and a few too many drinks, words are exchanged and a bet to complete the ionic lift was declared. Taking their tipsy video and posting online was the best thing the two could ever do. Amassing a large following overnight, Harry and Sally go about recreating iconic love scenes from movies. Gaining not just new followers, the two become the stars of their own romance.

Easy to read, and overall quite enjoyable, this book was super cute!

Harry moves into Sally’s house after he finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him. Sally is a romcom addict and convinces Harry to recreate movie scenes with her on Tik tok to make some money.

There was nothing wrong with the writing. I was just really bored. I think maybe someone who loves romances and romantic comedy movies would maybe appreciate this novel more. I didn’t find the actual book funny, so I wouldn’t consider it a rom com.

The plot is predictable. There is some spice.

I don’t think I’m going to read many romances anymore. That just took me way too long to get through!

This is my first book by this author and I'm glad to say that I enjoyed this book! I went into it blind, which I haven't done in a long time.

I personally love romcom movies and this book delivered on that with references from the 90's and recent movies. At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy the character of Sally. She gave me Elle Woods vibes- blonde hair, seems younger/naive, loves pink. I loved watching Sally grow and seeing more of her background. Even though she was dealt things in life that weren't fair, she still was full of hope.

Harry also had amazing growth! He started out the book as cynical. Not necessarily grumpy but a grump with love. The ending was the cherry on top to this book! It felt cheesy but it was an adorable read. This would make a great movie in my opinion.

Perfect for fans: romcom movies, witty banter, a dash of spice, cynical/hopeful or grumpy/sunshine trope, cute reads, cozy romance

Do you ever read a book and smile during and after it? That's how I felt during this one. Kathryn Freeman took all of the romcom tropes and made it fun and interesting. The TikTok addition made it current, and like something I'd love to see in real life. I really enjoyed this one, and recommend for people who are interested in a lighthearted, yet adorable read.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the book in exchange for my personal review.

This heartwarming feel-good romance, with cute relatable characters and a plethora of references to all of my favorite Romcom movies is a real winner for me. I had a smile on my face for the majority of the book. This is the perfect read for those looking for something light-hearted - like Romcoms, it's pretty predictable, but you are in it for the wonderful experience.

I haven't read other books by this Author but I am definitely going to read more. Many thanks to NetGallery and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for allowing me to get an early copy of the book. Highly recommended when it comes out on February 10th 2023 - an ideal Valentines day treat.

While romcom movies are a guilty pleasure of mine I am not one for reading romcoms but I stepped out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I did. I loved this book! There are a heap of references to movies which made it even better.

When Harry met Sally, no not the movie. Harry is a cynic who doesn’t believe in love, while Sally is a true believer and wants the bells to ring. Harry recently broke up with his girlfriend who refuses to move out of his house, moves in with romcom obsessed Sally. Harry starts criticising Dirty Dancing (I know, how could he!?) and says anyone can do the lift (cue eyeroll here). Sally decides to film them doing the lift and it goes viral, viewers want more. The then decide to start recreating famous scenes from romcom films while living out their own romantic comedy.

This was honestly the sweetest book and I couldn’t put it down. While I haven’t read many romcoms to compare it to, it is an instant five stars. Highly recommend for lovers of romance, it’s definitely converted me.

I really wanted to like this book based on its premise, but I felt like it was written in an odd way that skipped all the character development. The opening chapter sees two people meeting, and in the following chapter we’re two months into them knowing each other. What happens in between? Why should I care about them? These were big problems for me.

A sweet romcom in the form of a book - Harry and Sally fall in love while he’s her lodger. Hilarity ensues. A quick and mindless read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.
