Nobody Puts RomComs in the Corner by Kathryn Freeman can be summed up in one word: fun. I had a smile on my face the whole time I read it. Both the leads were well developed and the supporting characters added some humor and conflict. This book made me remember all the movies I loved and now have to rewatch. If you love romcoms then this is a book for you.

If you love romcoms whether books or films you will enjoy this cute romcom. I adore romcoms and a book based on the main characters recreating some iconic romcom moments was a great concept. While I enjoyed the book I just didn’t love it. There are some great scenes especially the lift from dirty dancing and funny banter which made it a cute read just not a standout to me. That being said I think it will appeal to many romcom lovers and I’d definitely give another chance to a book by Kathryn Freeman. This book was breathtakingly funny and romantic! I laughed, I cried, I swooned! I was able to picture their journey together and feel everything that they were going through. I love how they turned each reenactment into their own and how each character was important in their journey. I now have another favorite author to add to my list!

I expected Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner to be totally cheesy. It was...but in a very good way. The author does a good job of referencing so many of our favorite rom-com movies. The premise is that these two roommates are re-enacting these iconic movie scences. This is the part I thought I wouldn't like. I expected this to be cheesy or silly, but it wasn't. In fact, I found my self giggling at the scenes as I pictured the gruff and tough Harry acting these out. It was his dialogue that made it believable and sweet. In the midst of these re-enactments, the roommates become much more than that. However, their respective backgrounds provide the conflict that the two must overcome.

I very much liked nearly all of the characters. Who among us reading these types of books doesn't love a good rom-com? This made is easy to identify with Sally. Sure, she is over-the-top but as the story goes on, we learn more about what she has actually endured in life. It is this grit that she has that make her character all the more loveable (Harry would agree!) I would have liked a bit more background on Harry. There was just enough in the book to make us understand why he is the way he is. The other characters I think that were developed well are Amy and Kitty. I disliked them intensely in the beginning but the author provided them with opportunities to become more endearing throughout. In fact, I wonder if perhaps we may we another book in the future with their stories?

My only negative (and really not a negative) was that because I am American, I had to pause and think about some of the references. I realized after concluding that this is a UK publisher. Not a big deal, just some references/phrases that Americans may not be as familiar.

Overall, this is a fun, light read. I found it very enjoyable!

Harry and Sally become roommates and couldn't be more different - she believes in true love and loves romcoms, he doesn't believe in true love and hates romcoms, finding them unrealistic. It was a cute, fluffy read and I did laugh at some lines but unfortunately, I just don't this book was not for me. However I am a mood reader and I think that if I had read this another time, maybe my opinion would've changed. It was still a good read, and I think lots of romcom lovers will devour this book! But for me it felt a little slow and wasn't a book that will stick with me.

Ridiculously cute and an absolute pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed following Sally and Harry's progression from disconnected roommates to couple, and both had interesting personal journeys along the way. The TikTok reenactments are all highly enjoyable to read about as well as the complexities that each bring to their burgeoning relationship. I was fully expecting the third act breakup/misunderstanding from a dangling plot thread that nearly gave me anxiety to think about and the immediate situation was dealt with quicker than I thought, but opened up a thoughtful examination of how both parties needed to bend a bit to make things work. Body positivity is even touched on with Sally, who is neither stick thin nor plus size, and Harry makes his refreshing opinion on the matter quite clear. Although Freeman clearly displays a great love for romantic comedies based on the title and subject matter, the story definitively shows that love isn't always shown in grand romantic gestures and is often visible in smaller, more personal moments. The book is very British and loaded with tons of charming phrases that made me smile.

Overall this was sweet and endearing, but I’m not sure will be lasting for me.

This is a cute story, with a really fun premise. I found it to be pretty believable, with characters I enjoyed reading about for the most part. Some of the side characters could have been more fleshed out considering they were present in the story quite a bit. I think this might have been an uncorrected proof because there were some misspellings and simple corrections that still needed to be made.

Overall this was a really fun read, and I would recommend it to others that are looking for something fun and lighthearted.

The thing I love about great rom-coms is that their predictability doesn’t matter. You know that the couple will end up together. It’s more about the journey.

There’s a proven formula for romcoms.
1. Don’t like each other
2. Sexual tension, still don’t like each other
3. Get together
4. Something breaks them apart
5. Get together and ride off into the sunset.

One of the most important - and difficult to write - elements is the 2nd part: sexual tension. Without making the sexual tension seem realistic the rest of it all seems hokey.

I’ve never read a Kathryn Freeman book before. I was drawn to this one because of the title and plot. Honestly, I think it’s a brilliant idea to write a romcom that directly mimics the most popular romcoms.

Harry has to leave his house for reasons that don’t matter in this review, so he rents a room in Sally’s flat. Yes it’s a romcom with characters named Harry and Sally.

As it turns out, Sally is a huge romcom fan. Harry is a stereotypical big, muscular home builder who isn’t in touch with his feelings.

Sally decides she wants to reenact scenes from popular romcoms and post those re-enactments on TokTok. She uses Harry as the move interest in the filming.

Again, pretty good concept.

Unfortunately, Kathryn Freeman wasn’t able to write a book that lived up to the concept.

First of all, there was no sexual tension. Or, rather, it was so poorly described, it seemed less like tension and more like unrealistic idiocy. The two characters liked each other from the get go and both wanted to be with the other early on in the book. Those feelings never waivered so there wasn’t a whole lot of relationship development.

Speaking of unrealistic, a lot of the descriptions and dialogue seemed awkwardly sophomoric. It just wasn’t believable.

I love me a good romcom, I wouldn’t say this is one of them. I would’ve given it two stars but the concept is so great, that bumped it up a star.

Who doesn't love a romcom?!?! When I saw the title of the book, I audibly gasped, seriously the perfect title!! Seriously, this book is right up my alley, and boy did it deliver. First, the leads names: Harry and Sally. I know I know 😍😍😍 It had all the elements I look for in a romcom and then some.

Sally was the perfect amount of quirky and fun, and Harry had a bluntness to him that I adored. Sally loves all things rom coms and true love, which Harry is the complete opposite. The entire time reading this book I had a huge smile on my face, this was definitely a win from me.

This was a really cute rom com love letter for all of us who love rom coms. It was cheesy and fluffy and I liked watching Sally and Harry fall in love.

I just finished this one, and I loved it so much!
Harry doesn't believe in love and Sally is a real romantic. The hazar makes him find himself living at her house, and he discovers much more than romcoms.
I loved the relationship between the two characters, the atmosphere around the movies, seeing their relationship evolve. Above all, I liked reading how difficult it can be to understand and express your feelings. A beautiful crush for this romance that I recommend.

Such a cute romance read - I mean the title itself - Nobody Puts RomComs in the Corner made me want to pick it up straight away.

The book is about Harry and Sally. They are thrust together for their own reasons - Harry due to splitting up with his ex and Sally as she needs money due to previous events. So Sally takes Harry as a lodger. They get to talking and Sally’s love of RomComs come up - and Harry said he could do the lift from Dirty Dancing - and now you can see where the title of the book comes from.

Sally thinking this is fun decides to film it for a TikTok - and guess what it goes viral. They then film several memorable romance scenes and stert to have fun.

I really enjoyed this book - it was fun, there was more depth to both Sally and Harry and it was fun watching their characters develop in the book.

The secondary characters were also really fun, especially Vince, Mike and Jack - wasn’t too keen on Kitty and Sally’s sister but they redeemed themselves.

Well worth a read if you want to see two character re-enacting scenes from films with their own spin on it. There were laugh out loud moments, ones where you wanted to reach in and slap the secondary characters (I’m looking at you Kitty and Amy) but overall a romance read that will make you heart pitter patter.

This was a cute romcom. Sally, a big fan of romance, and Harry, a man who doesn't believe in love? You already know how things will end. Still, I loved the idea of Sally and Harry recreating scenes from popular romcoms and then ofc falling in love. I think I was expecting more tension between them, but I like that there was great chemistry. I expected more from this book, but still it was a fun and captivating read.

I read this book in one sitting. Yes, it has the Sunshine/Grouch trope in it but tropes are what makes Romcoms great in the first place! This story is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy: sweet without being sappy and spicy without being awkward. All the elements that make Romcoms great are found in this book.

Thank you netgalley and HarperCollins UK, one more chapter. I wanted a little more tension between the characters. I also didn’t love that her crush started so early but it ended up being a slow burn so that was good. I did love it when he watched the movies he hated just to make her happy. I hate how sally tries to please her sister and her sister treats her so badly when sally does everything for her! The book was slow at first but got better as I got farther into it. I love how different Harry is around sally like she makes him happy and a better person. I loved the ending because it just felt like everything fell into place for all the characters.

A wonderful feel good romance with Rom Coms at the heart. It was great to find lines from some of my favourite movies set in print. I loved Sally and Harry and how their story developed. Fabulous.

Where to start? There were so many things I loved about this book! I’m a huge fan of romcoms so I loved the references to some I’ve seen, and some I haven’t just yet but I’ve put them on my list now to watch!

The whole time I was hoping Harry and Sally would get their happily ever after and I love how real their relationship felt. While reading I was reminded of the first time my partner told me he loved me and it filled me with so much joy (some happy tears were shed)

I can’t recommend this more highly
