A thoroughly enjoyable novel that left me with that feel-good feeling! The dual perspective storyline was wonderfully interwoven with powerful characters full of dimension.

I loved the vintage shop element, having worked in a vintage shop I could really relate with the passing on of stories and the importance of that journey.

I enjoyed the sentimentality that came out of some elements of the vintage shop and how that helped unravel the deeper meaning of the novel. It was also nice to experience the novel placement to be between a small-town in England and then America, and how places can help to invigorate life.

I fell in love with Lou, Maggy and Donna’s life stories and how they collided. It was also nice to see a dash of older generation romance.

A fabulous story of women helping each other to come to terms with divorce, bereavement, family news all interwoven with a yellow dress in a vintage shop. A book you won’t want to put down.

Totally loved this book. I love all things vintage and I love Libby so what more could you ask for. The strong female characters in this book had been exceptionally described. The storyline was perfect and I enjoyed every page of this book. It didn't have the lag in the middle of the book like some books do. Very well written as usual by Libby.

I don’t tend to read a huge amount of ‘feel good fiction’ or ‘up-lit’ as it’s sometimes known. I’m a bit of a weirdo who likes being emotionally devastated by a book!

However, I do have a soft spot for Libby Page books.

I liked all three main characters in The Vintage Shop of Second Chances. I had a real soft spot for Donna and her brusque manner. She could come across as rude or abrasive but I really liked her as a character and found myself empathising with her.

I really liked the resolution to the story surrounding Donna’s mother. I don’t want to say anything that might be considered a spoiler but I will say it made me cry!

I really enjoyed The Vintage Shop of Second Chances. The story was slightly predictable but I honestly don’t mind that in a book like this. It was a moving story of sisterhood, family and community and I loved the motto of ‘live life colourfully’.

Libby Page's books really get underneath your skin and this one was no exception. This story expertly weaves so many threads together to form a truly beautiful picture of predominantly women characters, finding their way through and finding each other. There's loss, grief and missed opportunities, but even though there's sections that can bring you to tears, the author's great talent, is teasing out the hope and celebrating these strong women and the friendship and kinship that gets them through. Throw in the fabulous vintage clothes and you've got a story you just can't stop reading.

I loved the previous books I've read by this author and as a result I was thrilled to be able to read this, The Vintage Shop of Second Chances. It didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed the backstories of the women, trying to figure out how they connected as their lives eventually come together. The characterisation was excellent and it was an easy escapist read that I recommend extremely highly.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Orion Publishing Group via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒑 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔… a book that has completely stolen my heart. Libby Page delivers with every book and this is quite possibly my favourite.

I have loved the journey into the past with this one. The characters are just easy to fall in love with.

A charming plot set in the lovely Frome, this had all the markings of a cosy read that I’d zip through in no time. However, whilst I did enjoy the interweaving stories of the three women, and the ways their lives connected it didn’t hit all the marks for me.

Ultimately it was a quick and relatively enjoyable read, but sadly lacking in substance. I was excited to read this one, but never really connected with it. The writing style just didn’t work for me personally, a lot of telling the reader and dumping lots of information at once rather than exploring and allowing it to unfurl naturally.
I also found the exploration of grief and loss of Lou’s mother to be rather flat and unrealistic. This is a particular bugbear of mine following the loss of my own mother, and I know won’t be a problem for many readers, but for me personally it just didn’t sit well.

However I really loved the theme running throughout of second chances, hope, and finding a new lease later in life. This will definitely be one that many people will love, it just didn’t quite spark for me as I had hoped it would.

Another gorgeous book from Libby Page!

I have loved reading this author's previous books and The Vintage Shop of Second Chances is just as rich, colourful and warm.

The three main characters whose lives entwine and circle around the vintage clothing shop are well formed and wonderfully real and I enjoyed seeing their friendship form.

An uplifting tale of friendship, grief and moving forward, in the beautiful setting of Frome.

Thank you to Libby Page, NetGalley and to Orion for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.

Loved this book!! There's something about the way that Libby Page writes about her female characters, that makes you instantly care about what they are going through and wants their story to give them the happiness that they deserve! And it's also made me want to run to a Vintage shop and buy a yellow dress ASAP!!

We are introduced to Lou in this story, who is dealing with grief after losing her mother, and has recently opened a Vintage shop where she loves connecting with the customers and hearing their stories, and how an item of clothing can conjure so many memories. And it's the yellow dress in her window that leads to a journey of discovery and introduces her to 2 amazing women.

Maggy is local and recently divorced and dealing with empty nest syndrome. Stuck in a rut for so long she's looking for new adventures so takes on a lodger - that lodger is Lou and so begins a wonderful friendship that gave me all the feels! Lou sees Maggy as a person, and not just a mum or wife as she's been for so long and it was wonderful to hear her opening up to Lou about the past.

And over in America we are introduced to Donna who is reeling from some family revelations and isn't sure about who she is anymore! Until she spots a yellow dress in a photo, and her new journey begins on a visit to the UK to find out more!

This was such a heart warming and emotional read that I just couldn't stop reading! The connection between these women, despite the different ages, was wonderful and allowed them all to emerge from difficult times in their lives. The discovery of past secrets unite them and builds on their bond and the yellow dress mystery! Wonderful!!

A beautifully written and poignant story The Vintage Shop of Second Chances will definitely still be high up on my list of favourite books of the year come December.

I fell in love with the characters and locations within the first few minutes of reading and couldn't get enough of Page's writing so sped through the chapters but was gutted when it came to an end.

This is the ultimate in feel good reading, that's despite the fact I spent much of the second half bawling my eyes out - it hit me with every emotion going and then some.

I've read all of Page's previous books and enjoyed them all but her latest offering pushes to a whole new level.

I'll be recommending The Vintage Shop of Second Chances to anyone who will listen and it was an easy 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read for me.

Three women, one opening a shop with inheritance from her deceased mother, another facing divorce after 50 years of marriage and the third living in New York. Fate connects them and together the future looks brighter for all of them. A heart warming story of friendship and support. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Orion for approving me for an ARC of this book. I buddy-read this with a few of my Tsundoku Squad friends and I think it’s safe to say that we all enjoyed it.

Our story is told from the POV of three women; Lou, Donna and Maggy. All three of these women are facing some sort of crossroads in their lives and through unusual circumstances, they find themselves navigating those paths together.

First up we have Lou, the young and vibrant vintage shop owner, who is still coming to terms with her grief after losing her parents. Whilst trying to get her new shop up and running she finds herself needing a place to stay. In steps, Maggy, a recently divorced seventy-year-old whose loneliness is starting to get too much, offers Lou her spare room, and they strike up a good friendship. Across the pond, we then have Donna who has recently learnt a family secret that tears her life apart. She soon finds herself in Lou’s vintage shop with more questions than answers.

What could these three women possibly have in common? Well, I’m afraid you’re going to have to read it to find out as I will be revealing nothing. What I will say is this book is full of so much heart. I defy anyone not to shed a tear or two as the story reaches its peak. I found myself thinking of my own memories with some of my loved ones in the more emotional scenes and couldn’t help but sob away. All three of our leading ladies embark on their own journies and face different challenges along the way. I loved seeing how they all changed, particularly Maggy.

I escaped into this book, desperately trying to sneak in more time to read between adulting. Libby Page has reaffirmed that it’s never too late to find your happiness or give your wardrobe a much-needed update! But what stood out most for me was the strength of sisterhood, family and friendship, that radiated off the pages. It brought utter joy to my reading life.

An interesting feel good story about Lou, who opens a vintage clothes shop when her mother dies. She has a dress her mother had owned when she was young on display, but not for sale, and someone recognises it from a photo they have. This leads them on a journey to discover if there is a connection between them and if so, what?

The characters were really well portrayed - a very enjoyable book
