Three couples, entwined by marriage and love, go to a secluded luxury cabin the the woods for a weekend. Before this, they all receive dna test kits as presents. No-one knows who gave them the kits, secrets are rife through the couples and their lives.
They start their weekend with a lovely dinner, but Liza goes to bed unwell, then dissappears. Strange things are happening. A massive storm hits and then the secrets all come out.
A pretty good story. She has written better, but it held me captive till the end.

I tried really hard to like this one, but just couldn't. I made it about halfway through and had to give up. I found myself having to reread because I couldn't really focus on it.
I won't post this to Goodreads because I don't want to post a partial review there. I wasn't the audience for this one, but I'm sure that audience is out there.

This was my first time reading this author. I enjoyed her writing style and feel she gave the story dimension. Good character development and she made all the characters fairly likeable.
I did not like that there were holes never filled and major events never explained. Once answers started being revealed I was waiting for resolutions that didn’t materialize.
Overall this was a good read. I would try more books by this author in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley for the free advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

This is my first Lisa Unger book and it will NOT be my last!
I loved the plot trope of this mystery/thriller. Isolation, no cell service, creepy landlord, etc. It was a bit of a slow start, but I got into the character development and once it got going..wow did it ever take off!
The only downside for me was multiple character POV within 2 different timelines…kept me on my toes and I had to go back a few pages a few times to make sure my story lines were accurate.
Overall, I give this story a 3.5 (rounding up to 4 bc THE ENDING!!!)
Thank you NetGalley and Legends Press for the advanced read copy of this book!

I have been anticipating Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six all year, and I was not disappointed. This book had all the best elements of a locked-room mystery/thriller. A remote cabin in the woodsIt was just the right amount suspenseful with a touch of mild horror that I wasn’t expecting, but made the story more thrilling. The title is a bit of a mouthful, but fitting.
A huge thank you to the author, Legend Press, and NetGalley for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. #SecludedCabinSleepsSix #NetGalley

Thank you to Lisa Unger, Legend Press and Netgalley for providing me with an earc of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six in exchange for an honest review!
I think this book was good, and the discussion and messages it tried to give were very appreciated and executed quite well which is why I am bumping this book from 2.5⭐️ to 3⭐️. This was an entertaining read and for most of the story there was a lot of intrigue. I think there were a lot of character povs which made it confusing in the beginning, but once I got used to it and understood who was who I appreciated the multitude of different povs as they spiced up the story. There are two timeliness we follow and while we can't see why the past storyline rated to the present at all, the way it tied up was actually a nice mesh and made sense. I think it also added more emotional depth to the story as well. However there was one particular pov that was completely unneeded and it was obvious it was put there to misdirect the reader, which it did not for me. Which brings me to say the actual reason this thriller did not work for me and was only 2.5 stars. It was soooo slow-burn and felt a little too long, it dragged on and on and on... by 70% I'd had enough of it unfortunately.
But I do think objectively, this was a good thriller and my rating is purely subjective. This book implemented DNA and family so intricately and it was so unique and the book's strongest suit, as well as its discussion on family and SA. Therefore I do recommend this book to those who enjoy a slowpaced thriller that discusses important themes in such a unique way! Please do check TWs. 🙏

Was a slow start but finished strong. Had some very intriguing storylines. I had trouble getting attached to each of the characters, it seemed a bit jumpy, but overall a good book..

A luxurious rental cabin in the woods should be the perfect place for a little R&R. But for three couples, the weekend getaway swiftly turns into a nightmare.
Between the creepy owner and the ominous history of the home itself, Hannah starts to wonder if she’d have been better off staying home. The group has its own messy history and as a storm approaches, threatening to trap them in the middle of nowhere, long-buried secrets come to light. Someone is determined to get revenge for past wrongs. Can Hannah truly trust the people she knows best or is there a stranger among them?
I LOVE a locked-room mystery/thriller! Like I will seriously read anything where people are trapped and things go off the rails, so I was excited to get this as an e-ARC. The story went in a much different direction than I expected, putting a bit of a novel twist on the trope.
There are two parallel storylines that eventually come together. There were times that I wondered where the heck Lisa Unger was going with one of them, but it did payoff at the end. There’s a ton of family and relationship drama. And it makes you wonder how far you would go to protect those closest to you and what defines family.

I had a hard time staying with this one. The story was good but there were so many characters to follow, each with their point of view, plus flashbacks. I recommend taking notes so you can keep up. The suspe se was great throughout but it all ended very abruptly. The last few chapters were a good epilogue. Thanks #netgalley for a first look!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for access to this book!
This was interesting, but ultimately too messy for me to follow the plot. There were too many perspectives shown and rather than have them all occur in a timeline, some of them took place simultaneously and it became extremely confusing. I also felt that several of the subplots added nothing to the story but only increased the confusion. Maybe they were meant to be red herrings? I don’t know.
Another thing that bothered me throughout was the author’s style of telling us a ton of information about a character and then having their behavior be completely opposite or they never do anything—most of the characters never became more than their mini-bio, spouted off during the one chapter from their perspective. This felt like a draft of a novel rather than a finished book.

Wow oh my oh my
Not the very best I have read this year but still entertaining. There were just too much POVs to keep track. Reminds me of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s messy You are not alone.
Fell flat but has a good plot.

6 couples rent a cabin in the middle of nowhere. It should be a luxury getaway weekend, but the couples find themselves in compromising situations. There is a terrible storm approaching and they learn the surprising news of the cabin's haunted past. Who can be trusted? Who is the stranger among them? Will they survive?
The story starts out steadily building the characters and setting, but it then falls flat until the ending. I honestly had to stop reading and come back to the book at a later date. I enjoyed the second half of the book much more. I had hoped for more twists and suspense throughout the book, but most of the action is in the later half. This was more of a slow burn read to me, but I especially enjoyed the ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Legend press for the opportunity to review this ARC.
TRIGGER WARNING: There is rape, sexual, and verbal abuse that might be triggering for some readers.

4 stars...
Creepy, atmospheric, & unsettling; I loved the premise of this secluded cabin in the woods rented by 6 friends. Things immediately start getting peculiar between their host, Bracken and his creepy tendencies, and the chef telling the story of a previous murder at the house.
I loved how the author used DNA/ancestry as part of the plot in this thriller. It was creative, unique, and worked well. What didn’t work well for me – were the convoluted multiple plots/stories/characters. Toward the end, I was beginning to get confused, and realized some characters and sub story lines weren’t even necessary.
I think this couldn’t been a 5-star read If the author omitted some – less is more here!
I really enjoy her books and will look forward to her next.
(Thank you to the publisher & netgalley)

I did enjoy this book, but it wasn’t quite as exciting as I hoped. This story follows sibling Hannah and Mako as they plan for a weekend to a secluded cabin with their spouses and a childhood friend and her boyfriend. Things start out rocky and only go downhill after their arrival.
I did find it interesting how the author tied together characters that I originally believed were unrelated. I also enjoyed that each chapter was from a different character’s perspective.
This book definitely gave me a lot to think about. Different perspectives and a word of warning for looking too far into your genetics. An interesting read for sure! I could absolutely see this as a film or tv series adaption.
TW: this book does feature an instance of rape. It wasn’t graphic, but it could be upsetting to some.
Thank you to Netgally, Park Row Publishing, Lisa Unger for a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I greatly appreciate it!

A first Lisa Unger for me, I thought it was about time that I tried it, but unfortunately it wasn't for me.
Six snotty 30-somethings join together in a cabin for a weekend, none are likeable, all are acting as if they are still 16. The characters were too stereotyped: all the men 'are good with computers' and the girls are respectively into yoga, into men and into babies. Sigh. Of course nothing goes as planned. They are stranded by a heavy thunderstorm is brewing, and a raging psycho-killer is targeting them.
The only redeeming part of the book are the chapters about Henry. He is troubled since childhood and somehow is able to carve something of a life because of his childhood fried who has got his back from day one. I think that this storyline alone would have made a captivating book.
In the end, all the threads come together in an over the top finale and if you didn't get it, no worries, there is still the last chapter in which everything will be well explained.
A sincere thanks to NetGalley, Legend Press and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading this book, but I didn’t think it was the authors best. The plot felt a little outlandish.

One of the best books I’ve read this year! So gripping and intriguing! I highly recommend this one! Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and author for this ARC for my honest opinion!

This is Lisa Unger at her best. The ensemble cast has you guessing the entire time, the atmosphere is mesmerizing, and the Agatha Christie locked-room nod is perfectly paced. Add this to your list right now!

Really enjoyed this book! The plot and storyline hooked me. I was constantly guessing and was literally wrong everytime. Loved the audiobook too. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

The Dark Side..
A luxury cabin, a remote location, every amenity, three couples. What could possibly go wrong? It sounded like the perfect escape but with a treacherous storm brewing, equally treacherous secrets being hidden and a chilling history to the location it was, perhaps, a mistake of the first order. Tension mounting suspense with a nigh on perfect premise, an exploration of the darker side of humanity in what should be a perfect location and a cast of well drawn characters all with secrets to share.
