Hannah's brother, Mako, books a weekend getaway at a high end, secluded, cabin in the woods for a few family and close friends. She thinks it might be the perfect way to reconnect with her husband who lately has seemed a bit distant. Everything seems perfect but a storm is approaching, their host is unsettling, and the personal chef tells them the house has a tragic past. Not everyone is who they seem to be, who can be trusted, and will any of the guests make it out alive.
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six was a dark thriller/mystery that was high on my list to read this year. Lisa Unger is usually a "go-to" author for me when I need a good read. Unfortunately this one just wasn't a good fit for me. The writing style was fantastic, pacing was good, and the plot was intriguing with lots of twists and turns along the way. I think the biggest issue I had with this one was that I didn't like a single character. That being said the problem is another "it's me not you" situation in which many readers will still really enjoy this one.

This was my 2nd book by Lisa Unger, and it did not disappoint. 4/5!
Summary: Hannah’s brother Michael (Mako, like the shark. Yes, you heard right) is a tech mogul. Hannah and Mako have always been close, but Hannah is more level headed while Mako is always putting on a show. Mako put together an extravagant getaway at a secluded cabin with a private chef and staff. The first night together starts off fun, but little things start happening that make Hannah on edge. Then, someone goes missing, and the real trouble starts. Everyone has a secret to hide, but they all unravel throughout the night. The story is told from multiple POVs, including Hannah, her childhood best friend Cricket, Henry (who is on his own quest, but the details come together in the end), Bracken, the host of the house, and Trina, Mako’s assistant. The story itself is fast paced, and the events of the night happen during a storm. Lisa’s writing allows the reader to feel present along with the characters. I personally like when all of the pieces of the puzzle are tied up in a bow at the end and it’s a somewhat happy ending! Each chapter had me wanting to read more until the end. The thing I didn’t like was Cricket’s POV as well as Bracken, but I think they’re supposed to be unlikable. Overall, 4/5, and I want more Lisa Unger!

“Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six” by Lisa Unger is basically a locked room mystery. Three couples rent a luxury cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway and soon all hell breaks loose. I was initially intrigued by Hannah’s character and narration, but then the multiple narrators and short chapters started to get tedious. The ending was rushed and a bit of a cop out.
Overall, a quick and mildly entertaining read.

Thank you Netgalley and Legend Press for the copy of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. First of all, I read The Shining and it scared me half to death so I would never stay at a cabin called the Overlook! And this one, the Elegant Overlook, turns out to be creepy and really isolated with some ghost stories of its own.
At first I was thrown off because there were so many characters, but I trusted that their stories would all come together in the end so I didn’t get discouraged. Henry had a compelling story and his upbringing added diversity to the other privileged characters, so he was the most interesting. The story was not unique, but it was well-executed and really kept me reading to find out how it ended. If you’re looking for an immersive, kind of spooky read, don’t miss this one!

Have you ever thought of submitting your DNA to find out your ancestry? Well you’ll think twice after reading this thriller!! A relaxing weekend getaway turns sinister when Mako and his wife Liza invite four others to a “secluded cabin” in the mountains. Little do they know, others are about to join them and turn their world upside down. You don’t want to miss this one!

This is an amazing book, so full of twists and turns I almost couldn’t keep up. What possible problem can doing a simple DNA test create? The author does a spectacular job of weaving what seems like two different stories into one. The story is told from several points of view and during different timelines. It’s been 10 years since I read a book by this author and I’m going to have to do some catching up. This is a superb book. I think anyone who likes mysteries and thrillers would enjoy this book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an advanced copy. This was my first time reading this author, and I had an good time doing so. "Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six" is a locked room thriller about 3 couples going on vacation, where secrets and drama are revealed, and it may even lead to murder.I liked that this locked room thriller had a unique plot that included DNA testing. There was an overarching theme of family, what it is, what it means, and how sometimes chosen family is more important than blood. I liked hearing form all of the different POVs but at time it got slightly overwhelming due to how many characters we were hearing from. These various characters, many who are unlikable, you end up rooting for which may shock you (well there was one in particular that I didn't root for.) I enjoyed that contrast and individuality of each character. My critique would be that at times it seemed to complicated going from each story line. I figured out many of the twists but that did not take away form my enjoyment. I would consider checking content warnings if there are specific traumas that would trigger you. I know the author had written many books before this and I would consider picking up some of her back list books. 3.5!

I was HIGHLY anticipating this read. I LOVE a great thriller and Lisa Unger did NOT disappoint. Lisa Unger is one of my favourite authors and this is definitely one of my favourite reads of hers. I finished this book in one sitting because I did not want to put it down - the suspense, the storyline, the characters - I loved it all! I truly felt captivated in this book the entire time reading it, like I was in that cabin myself lol. Definitely recommend this one!
Thank you NetGalley and Legend Press for this amazing ARC!

What seems like it would be a dream weekend getaway with friends and family turns out to be anything but that… Hannah and her brother Mako have always been very close. He is a highly successful business man who likes to be very generous but also a bit flashy in his gift giving. For her birthday this year he surprises his sister with a weekend stay at a high end, secluded cabin in the woods of Georgia. Hannah and her husband Bruce along with Mako and his wife Liza join with Hannah’s best friend Cricket and her new boyfriend for the getaway. The secluded cabin sleeps six. Upon arrival, each couple feels different vibes coming off the luxurious lodging. Hannah gets a strange feeling from the personal chef and is bit put off by some of the disturbing wall hangings decorating the place. Liza feels an unsettling current as well, especially when she meets the builder and owner of the place Bracken. The only couple that doesn’t seem rattled by the cabin is Cricket and her companion Joshua who dive right into the festivities. But as the night progresses, things seem to take a turn as a storm approaches and some strange sightings are witnessed on the property. (Fueled by a tragic history of the place) Emotions are heightened, deep hidden secrets between the group start to surface, and everyone begins to look at the other with suspicion and uncertainty. There is a lot going on in this novel and it is hard to cover it all in one review. But the main plot and the atmospheric backdrop drew me in right away. There are so many twists and turns throughout that kept me interested and turning the pages in anticipation of the frenzied climax. I really enjoyed this read and gave the novel a 4 star rating.

I love a good thriller and Lisa Unger did not disappoint! I loved all the twists and turns in this book. There were several different plot lines and one was not my favorite, but it was interesting to see it all come together. Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book!

This was a very intriguing storyline. I loved and related to all of the different characters. Thank you to netgalley for this advanced copy.

Lisa Unger is my most favorite ever! I have read all her books and every single time she has a ne ebook I am out the door and buying it! This one was sooooo crazy good! She holds me captive lien I’m in a cabin lol! Can’t wait for others to go on this crazy ride like I did!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a copy of this book. The subject matter sounded so interesting but unfortunately I think this book missed the mark. I found myself bored of it and sadly felt like it never picked up.

I enjoyed this one, a bit complicated at times. But ultimately a fun and suspenseful read with an isolated setting. Thanks Net Galley for the ARC!

Seeing some mixed reviews of this book I wasn’t sure about how I was going to like this book. I generally like this author a lot so I figured I would give it a shot and im glad I did. The book started out seemingly like a typical group goes to a secluded place in the woods and they start disappearing. But this story quickly became more with a back story being woven into the current day that made the story that much more layered. Unger did a nice job of keeping the story intriguing while also including the idea of what makes a family. Is it genetics or is it who we surround ourselves with?
Thank you to #netgalley and to the publishers for allowing to read this advanced copy.

Thank you Netgalley and Legend Press and Lisa Unger for an eARC.
This was my first by Lisa Unger and while I really enjoyed most of it I felt I got confused a few too many times. Other than that it was a fun read. I love the secluded setting and most of the characters. I feel a little left in the dark with the cabin owner and what he was up too. Unfortunately we don't really know what happens with him. With that being said I will definitely give this author another try.

REVIEW: 4 Stars
This book was just so much more than I anticipated. It's a complicated web that ends at a secluded cabin during a tropical storm.
Told in multiple POVs, in the past and present tense, there's a lot that goes on until it finally comes together in murder and mayhem. The build up may seem slow to others but with all the moving pieces it was important to establish this particular time line.
The most important thread of this novel was so well done and it truly makes you think about things. I would say more but I think it's an incredible spoiler.
There were only a couple of things I would have liked to have seen and that was Mako's point of view, especially there at the end. I felt he was a more crucial part of the story that was only addressed as more of a secondary character. Which I felt he was not. There were some things that were just repeated over and over, small things though, this was just my opinion.
Even still, I highly recommend Secluded Cabin of Six.

Three couples, all with secrets to hide, spend a weekend getaway in the woods of Georgia in Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. Author Lisa Unger spins a masterful tale as several storylines connect in this claustrophobic thriller. Tensions amongst the couples are simmering as the idyllic weekend turns sour, and a threatening storm charges the atmosphere, both literally and within the group, as the couples battle the elements and each other as the secrets come spilling out. The reader is kept on edge, trying to piece together the puzzle as the earlier story unfolds, keeping you completely engaged and flipping the pages. I received an arc of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Legend Press for my #gifted electronic review copy!
Happy Pub Week to Lisa Unger. I would highly recommend this twisted psychological thriller. It had a great dual-time storyline that all comes together in the end. I found the number of characters to be confusing at times, but it mostly gets buttoned up in the end.
I would want to ask more questions about Bracken, the person that rents out the cabin. This was the only character that didn't have an ending...
I am recommending with some warnings.

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a lock-in thriller set in an isolated holiday home in Sleepy Ridge, Utah.
A perfect luxury cabin promising an enticing retreat welcomes three not-so-perfect couples hiding behind their wealth, secrets and lies. With a great storm on the way and a suspicious holiday host watching their every move, who will make it out alive?
When Mako books a luxury stay at Elegant Overlook for his wife Liza, his sister Hannah, her friend Cricket and their partners Bruce and Joshua, they expect nothing less than the perfect getaway from work and life. While their phone service is poor and their WiFi is weak, their chef-cooked meal is rich and the drinks are strong.
When the storm hits, fallen trees block the roads and the cabin’s power generator is cut. What’s more, Liza is missing, Joshua has disappeared and there’s trouble lurking in the shadows …
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a gripping thriller full of mystery and suspense. With red herrings and plenty of twists and turns, you won’t sleep until you’ve finished the book.
Running parallel to the narrative is a side-plot of a half-siblings investigating their ancestry, their efforts made easier over time thanks to DNA testing kits and growing databases. While it’s an interesting subject, its link to the main story is somewhat weak and the thriller would have worked better if it explored more into Mako’s narcissistic, over-privileged past mistakes.
