2.5 Stars rounding up to 3 Stars.
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six follows three couples who stay at a luxurious rental cabin in the remote woods. Hannah hopes for a relaxing first trip without her child and with her husband, brother, sister-in-law, best friend, and her best friend's mysterious new boyfriend. Their weekend quickly starts to turn from relaxing to creepy and from creepy to a nightmare.
Overall I liked the idea of this book. The stranded up at a cabin setting, the secrets hidden amongst the six, and the character dynamics seemed right up my alley. Unfortunately, I felt like the first third of the book was paced really slowly, then the middle third build up was better, and then the final third seemed rushed to a finish. The number of characters and side plots seemed to be a bit much to keep track of, even when they did converge.
Overall I had high hopes for this and really was looking forward to a spooky creepy cabin thriller. I will say if you're a fan of trying to piece together who belongs where and more of a mystery with a touch of a thriller, this could be right up your alley!

I enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and turns that went in ways that I was not expecting. Lots of characters, so I had to reread at timed to keep all the characters straight, but the plot was good overall.

Family comes in all shapes, sizes, and dimensions. A brother and sister along with their spouses and friends find what they believe will be a restful respite in a secluded resort.
Not surprisingly, it’s anything but restful. Reverberations haunt the group as their secrets are revealed, some more egregious and stark than others,
I liked all the intrigue, especially the DNA, sperm donor angle, which is endlessly fascinating.
I was kept on the edge of seat, ripping through the pages, wondering what new revelation would surface.
We are related by blood to family, but inclusion can cast a wide net for others to be considered family as well.

What can go wrong when you rent a cabin with your friends? The cabin is furnished and even has a private chef! Sounds wonderful, but the trip didn’t turn out as they expected in this twisty thriller! The book kept my interest and I wanted to know what was going on! Is someone going to die? Get hurt? Will they ever make it home? Wow!

A weekend trip to a secluded cabin does not go the way anyone planned. Hannah's brother Mako plans a trip for them and their spouses plus Hannah's best friend and her boyfriend. The cabin owner is a creeper who has cameras in all the rooms and the showers. Hannah's husband Bruce wants to quit his job with Mako. Hannah does not want to leave her baby Gigi. This is not the relaxing trip they had all wanted. Not by a long shot. There is someone watching them with her own sinister plan.
There is also a story about DNA and finding your biological family. It got a bit confusing to me with all the different narrators. I had to stop and see just who they were again. Does nature beat nurture? Do we overlook the bad sides of the ones we love? Or do we take things into our own hands?
I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more with less characters but still a decent read.

Hooked from the first chapter. It has you trying to guess what's coming whilst leading you through a couple of red heron moments strategically placed. I felt like I really got to know the characters and their relationships between each other although some remained more of a mystery until later on in the book. Thoroughly enjoyable. Will be reading more from this authour!

I love Lisa Unger books. She takes culturally relevant phenomena and twists a narrative that is sinister and compelling. This was one of her best- complex characters with fatal flaws that all catch up with the group in the end.
This book explores nature versus nurture through sibling relationships, dark secrets, and what it means to defend the people that you love.

This book was surprising in how twisty it was. I didn't quite get how the two storylines would merge but when they did...wow. It took place in an area similar to ones I've been to in Dahlonega/Roswell, so I could picture it really well. This book could totally be made into a movie. Well done.

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six follows three couples who go to a remote luxury cabin right when a storm is getting ready to hit. The storm rolls in and the power goes out. The three couples suddenly find out they are not alone. A killer is among them in the cabin. You find out that each person is holding onto onto a secret that eventually unravels.
The story has multiple POV’s every chapter being from a different characters perspective. However, midway through you start to get characters that aren’t in the cabin. It begins to have two different stories being told that eventually wrap up into one in the end. I found it a bit confusing and hard to follow at times. I was hoping for the big moment in the end to blow me away but it did not unfortunately. The ending was good but a bit underwhelming, leaving the whole book on the underwhelming side.

My first Lisa Unger novel was a complete thrill from start to finish! I'm not going to lie, sometimes I had to read it only in the daytime because the writing was just a little to realistic 😅🙈
Hannah and Mako are inseparable siblings. Even as they age and begin their own families nothing seems to come between them. Mako is now running a successful business, married to his wife, and has way too much money on his hands. What better way to spend that money than by renting a cabin for you and 5 other guests?
Things seem too good to be true....and then someone goes missing, the power goes out, a storm approaches, and an additional guest shows up.

I really enjoyed this book. It grabbed me from the very beginning. You could tell that a lot of the characters had stuff to hide but you had no idea what was really coming. There were a lot of storylines and subplots woven into this story and while the author did a good job connecting everything at the end there was a lot to keep track of and some of the characters got lost. For example I would have enjoyed a deeper dive into Alice's story. I enjoyed the ending but I felt like the author had two ideas in mind and instead of picking one she decided to join them so it was a bit confusing and disjointed.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to others
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to love this book but I barely liked it. The first 40% or so was a total slog. Nothing happened. Nothing! And there were so many characters being introduced I struggled to keep it all straight. By the second half I was bored and tired and yet the story picked up. It picked up too much. So much was happening and it felt rushed. I enjoyed the action, drama, and twists, but I wish it hadn't all been crammed together at the end. This manuscript was also messy making it difficult to read.
I really hope these issues are all ironed out before publication because this story is intriguing and has great potential to be a good mystery thriller.

This book left me wanting a little more. The first half felt so slow with nothing really happening. Definitely way more action in the second half but it felt rushed! The multiple character POVs felt confusing since they didn’t converge til late in the book. It had a lot of promise and a great setting, but overall this was just ok for me.

“This place is epic. You’re gonna die.”
I felt like the first Christmas chapter was so disjointed from the rest of the book. I knew there would be a callback and it was relevant, but it just seemed like it was thrown in there. I’m all for multiple POVs, but I found it confusing how it jumped around so much . Once I got my bearings, it was fine, but I felt like there was A LOT of characters to keep track of and with timelines/POVs constantly changing- it got muddy. A few times, I had to go back and try to grasp what was even happening and I found myself not even trying to figure out how it would end because I needed to focus on the present chapter. There is a lot of moral topics touched upon here and I particularly liked the moral quandary of protecting your family vs, doing what’s right. Also, your biological family vs the family we choose. I found myself having to be in the right mind frame to read this book and I definitely couldn't be sleepy or I wouldn't understand what was going on and have to reread. All in all - it is a solid book if you can focus through it !

What started as a weekend of fun and relaxation will end in fear and revelations. Some that are expected and some that will shock to the core. This book was really well written, and I found the plot twists really interesting and well done. I did see where the book was going but that's not from a lack of originality, I just have a mind that usually sees things coming before they do. I found the premise really interesting and something I haven't seen done in books before and that was refreshing. I wish the book had more twists and an ending that shocked I felt this story kind of ended without much punch to it and I wish I had more payout at the end. But I would recommend this book and I know many people will love the writing and the characters.
Hannah just wants to stay home with her young Daughter and husband, but her big brother Mako has other plans for her... plans that involve her finally getting away from some much-needed R and R At a secluded cabin resort on the woods. A spa a chef and time to unwind with her brother his wife and her best friend and her current boyfriend of the moment she has to admit it sounds pretty good. Maybe too good. Once they arrive nothing goes as planned the lights go our a quest disappears, and someone is waiting in the shadows. Someone that has been waiting for this very moment to destroy all that has been build. There waiting to rip down the walls that surround these people and expose them to the truth. To trust no one and nothing most of all themselves.
A very well written twisty book with plot very different to what's out there right now. A must read

I really enjoyed this! I loved the premise, the characters (okay, some weren't likable, but that was the point), and the plot. I loved how you knew who the bad guy was, but not why. And the red herrings had me going back and forth! I didn't piece everything together until closer to the end, and that's what I love, to keep guessing! The familial theme, and what exactly constitutes a family was a nice touch. As well as a look into the DNA companies. Lisa Unger is one of my favorite authors, this book did not disappoint! Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced digital copy.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy of this book! The book reminded me of Lucy Foley's style. There are several different perspectives and non-linear timelines. I think at times it did become a little confusing to keep up with, especially the jumping back and forth in time. There are so many characters so it was a tad overwhelming. But I did enjoy the writer's style of writing and descriptions. It was very easy to visualize. I enjoyed the main characters Hannah and Henry the most. I think I would have enjoyed just the two of their perspectives alone but I understand why there needed to be others to expand the mystery and suspense. It was a quick and entertaining read!

*Thank you to the publisher and author for an ARC of this book.
The premise of the story - 3 couples with secrets to hide - spending a weekend of luxury in a secluded cabin, appealed to me, especially with the promise of a psychological thriller filling the pages. Unfortunately, my expectations of this book weren't quite met. I don't like to be negative about books as I appreciate that authors put so much work and effort into their stories but this felt like it needed a really firm edit. There were far too many points of view - several could have been omitted without removing anything from the story (in fact, this could have made the narrative much tighter and more suspenseful). This is the risk of an abundance of viewpoints - it dilutes the tension and makes it harder to follow the main thrust of the story.
Anyway...
Equally I wasn't particularly keen on how men and women were portrayed in this - the women were mainly almost subservient, at least emotionally, to the men and seemed to depend on their male partner's mood/love/loyalty for their sense of self-worth. The men were workaholics with secrets to hide. If one couple displayed this relationship dynamic that would have been fine, but for every one to have the same dysfunctional relationship was frustrating. Hannah and her husband were different but Hannah was a nervous stay-at-home mum, reluctant to leave her child for a weekend, and it felt rather stereotypical.
The thriller aspect behind all this was interesting and it was a shame that that strand could not have been made stronger, perhaps through an earlier introduction to the narrative. I guess it plays into the reveal at the end but in some ways I felt two major storylines were competing for attention here and neither reached its potential.

I really enjoyed this book it was well written with an absolutely gripping storyline and I couldn't put it down. It was twisty and fast paced and kept me guessing until the end.

This is the first Lisa Unger book I've read and I have to say I am a fan! This book kept you guessing until the very end. I loved it.
