I love Lisa Unger books but hadn't read any for a while. This one was a hook right from the beginning with the family christmas and you can sense the tension bubbling under the surface of all the relationships. I couldnt wait to find out how the flashbacks and characters all fitted together in the end and it kept me guessing right until the last couple of chapters. The suspense of wondering what was going to happen was good. I did feel like Bracken was going to have more impact but i like the way his story played out too. A great thinking point too about DNA and genetics too...how much of your behaviour is purely diwn to genetics?!

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a rollercoaster locked room thriller with unpredictable twists and turns. Lisa Unger's writing style hooked me from page one, and I devoured 65% in one go! Three couples head to a secluded cabin to spend time together and press pause from the high-stake, competitive work environment. However, this vacation soon becomes one from hell as lies, betrayal and secrets are unearthed. The flashbacks tied exceptionally well to the current events, even though the number of characters involved overwhelmed me. I loved the exploration of family ties, genealogy and the power of choice that shapes the destiny of individuals. The dark and light elements of human characteristics are explored in depth, enhancing my reading experience. Hannah & Bruce were my favourite couple, and I was rooting for them throughout the book. The ending was well executed. I know I will be keeping an eye out for Lisa Unger's books in the future.
Thank you, NetGalley & Legend Press, for giving me an ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this book! I finished 80% of it in one sitting because i could wait to find out what happened! Great character shaping, good ending. I’d read this author again! Thanks NetGalley for an ARC!

“What people show the world is rarely the whole truth, especially these days when everything must be curated and cropped, filtered and brightened. Real life is messy and complicated. Ugly.”
Three couples rent a luxury cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway to die for. Hannah’s loving and generous tech-mogul brother Mako found the listing online. It’s his birthday gift to Hannah and includes their spouses and another couple. But the dreamy weekend is about to turn into a nightmare. A deadly storm is brewing. The rental host seems just a little too present. The personal chef reveals that the house has a spine-tingling history. And the friends have their own complicated past, with secrets that run blood deep. How well does Hannah know her brother, her own husband? Can she trust her best friend? And who is the new boyfriend, crashing their party? Who is the stranger among them?
I loved this book in the beginning, like couldn’t put it down. I was so drawn to this creepy isolated cabin and these family members and their myriad of secrets. But by about the halfway point it became a little disjointed. There are two storylines running but it’s not until you are almost done with the story that you learn how they are intertwined, and it’s almost as if it doesn’t even matter at that point. I had some issues with just how many things were happening, making the storyline a bit choppy.
I very much enjoyed the audio. The narrator did a great job of making each voice distinct as there are a lot of characters. That really helps me keep everyone straight while listening.
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Audio, Legend Press, and the author for the ARC and ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, it was my first ever book by this author. I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The crazy wild ride, the enablers, the mystery, and the all around amazing story line has me sucked right in.

I thoroughly enjoyed this locked room-type mystery. At first, I thought it would be rather predictable but it wasn't at all and it took me till the end of the book to guess what might happen. I enjoyed the fact the story is told from multiple points of view and the inclusion of sperm donor children and how they may be related was an interesting twist. The book delves into issues of inherited traits, who we are, how we behave and whether this can be controlled. It was a very interesting read and I have purchased it for my subscription book club.

I must admit I don't usually read locked room thrillers as I find they are often very predictable, but I was generally engaged for the entirety, even though it was slow in parts and I did enjoy how the story came together from the multiple viewpoints at the end. The story was intricately woven and it was interesting to read about the DNA testing element.
However, a couple of negatives for me were that there were too many points of view, it was almost hard to keep track at points, I felt that some of them were completely unnecessary and the characters were very superficial and I only found myself warming to one of them.. who wasn't even part of the 'main' story.
Overall, the book is worth a read, but I can't say I'm raving about it.

What can be more relaxing than a luxurious getaway at a secluded cabin/mansion with your family and friends? Hannah, her husband Bruce, her brother Mako, his wife Liza, their best friend Cricket and her new mystery boyfriend are on a weekend getaway in Georgia. If the men can stay away from work long enough they should all have a relaxing time. When they meet the owner of the cabin, he seems a little too present. Then their chef tells them about a ghost story that happened in the cabin. A storm rolls in and after that, everything goes off the rails. Everyone seems to have a secret and not only is their relaxing weekend in danger, but so are they
.
This book has multiple POVs, someone out for revenge, all of the secrets, past and present timelines, so basically everything. It really keeps your interest because you only get little bits of everyone’s secret. You know this weekend is doomed but don’t know exactly what’s happening until it’s right there. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, but it was pretty easy to do, especially when their storylines intersected. You have the typical characters you hate, the ones you love and the ones that are just meh. Some parts of the book were predictable, but the big parts really weren’t, which kept my interest. I did not see the ending happening as it did. Overall, a great read that I was able to read in one long drive and kept my interest

I read this book in two days. I love Lisa Unger books and this one did not disappoint. From the beginning of the book I was hooked and up reading until way too late in the night. I really liked how she developed all of the characters and how they all intertwined. Bracken was creepy and gave me the shivers from the beginning of the book. Why he would have bone sculptures out is disgusting! Great read for all those who like suspense novels.

WOW – This book was a page turner. This was my first novel I’ve read by Lisa Unger, although I do have a bunch on my shelf, and will be picking up another of hers soon. Her writing style reminds me of Harlan Coben – with the multiple POV and timelines that all seem separate until the last few chapters where it all makes sense. There were a lot of characters which took me a bit to keep straight, but each POV and time lines is clearly marked.
I enjoyed the secluded location, characters were well developed. The plot was engaging. The ending closed the stories well.

Not a fan of this one. I found it hard to follow and didn't like the characters. Plot was confusing and unbelievable.

This is more of the building of suspension to a story instead of a roller coaster. Some characters are fully developed, and some blend into the background. I thought Cat was a different type of character, negative, and yet I root for her. There is a certain vigilante aspect to Cat. I love it. I still don't get the point of Henry's childhood story. I felt like that was more of a side story than weaved into the main story. The ending was somewhat predictable but still very good.
Thank you to Legend Press and NetGalley for letting me read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This started off a bit slow but once it got going the omg! It doesn't half go! There are so many characters and plot threats and twists and turns that are all interwoven. It's the kind if book that you really need to focus on in order to enjoy it. If you skim it then you'll miss too many things because there is just so much going on! I did feel there were a few random tangents rhat didn't go anywhere but I was absolutely hooked and so confused that I needed to get to the end to finally find out what's happened. Its very cleverly written and certainly has bn well thought out. Definitely one to get lost in in these cold dark nights

First off, thank you so much to #Netgalley, the publisher and especially the author for this ARC!
Lisa Unger does it again! This book was so fun, I sat down and read it in one day without intending to! I will say it’s a little slow to start but the ending is fantastic!

I received this book early from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one since the reviews seemed to be mixed but I know not everyone likes the same kind of books.
This book had me enthralled to the end and definitely lots of guessing. It alternates between characters and dates. It’s exciting and kept me anxious to read more. Not gonna lie I definitely didn’t figure it out, it’s a murder mystery and keep me turning the pages and reading late into the early morning!
Lisa Unger did it again, be sure and grab a copy of Secluded Cabin sleeps six on publication day November 8,2022!!!

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is about 3 couples that heads to a secluded cabin for a luxurious vacation. However, their lives are not as picture perfect as they seem at first. The story has flashbacks that made me dying to know how the different stories fit together. Hannah is the character I related to the most with how protective she is of her family. I really enjoyed the mystery and while there were some twists I saw coming, there were still others that were a shock.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mystery with many secrets between family and friends that keeps you guessing who is trustworthy and who is lying.
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.

I really enjoyed Lisa Unger’s Confessions on the 7:45 and Last Girl Ghosted, but Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six was just not at the same level. The premise of the story is good, but almost all of the characters were really hard to like and the chapters jumping back and forth in time and alternating between the main characters didn’t flow as smoothly as they should have and became difficult to track. Mako owns a video game company and wants to share his success by inviting his younger sister Hannah and her husband Bruce and family friend Cricket and her boyfriend Joshua to join him and his wife Liza for a weekend of relaxation at a secluded luxury cabin with a personal chef. It all sounds great, but of course everyone has secrets and the weekend becomes a disaster when a terrible storm hits and the power goes out. The storm isn’t even their biggest problem, there are other dangers lurking that could have deadly consequences. I really like Lisa Unger’s writing, but this book was disappointing. Thanks to #netgalley and #parkrow for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think this was just fine. There was a LOT going on, in my opinion to the detriment of the story. The plot didn’t feel tight enough and the characters were annoying and beyond frustrating. Though the writing style was suspenseful & I was interested in the beginning, I feel like I’ll forget this one in a couple weeks. Also… not really a locked room mystery.

So. Much. Yes. This was an amazing read, with so many twists and turns I LOVED. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end, and absolutely loved the different point of views and timeline of this story. This is a must read when it is released in February!

While there were certainly some redeeming aspects of this book, I did not love it. I couldn’t connect or find common ground with any of the characters. There were many story threads being woven, and some seemed unnecessary while others were left unresolved. This one just wasn’t for me, but that doesn’t mean others won’t be completely satisfied!
