Love this books!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!!!
Great read that kept you guessing! Lisa is a great writer and he books are always well written and this one did not disappoint!
Thanks foe letting me read thus!
This story follows Hannah, a stay at home mom, her husband Bruce, her best friend Cricket, Cricket’s date, Joshua, Hannah’s brother Mako, and his wife Liza as they embark on a weekend getaway to a secluded cabin. The cabin is owned by Bracken, who is a techy peeping Tom with video cameras installed throughout the property to watch his guests at all hours. Not only that, but there’s a storm coming in and tales of ghosts seen near the property. There’s a second storyline that follows Henry, who is orphaned as a child and has a mysterious past. Later in the book, the storylines converge.
This book was a wild ride! It’s filled with mystery, suspense, DNA tests, and interwoven storylines that eventually combine. I love a locked room mystery, a creepy atmosphere, and a whodunnit mystery to solve- this book has all of these elements. The DNA test storyline added a unique element to the plot as well. Many characters weren’t likable, but I felt like they weren’t really supposed to be. Be sure to check content warnings on this one as there are many! If you are a fan of suspenseful mysteries, you should definitely check this one out!
Thank you to Lisa Unger, Legend Press, and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I was really looking forward to Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six, however I felt like there were way to many characters, most I don't feel really added to the story. It started out ok but became messy really quick. Some subjects became quite repetitive. The "main" characters lacked depth and overall this book just fell flat for me. One thing you can take from Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is you really never know people or their intentions, wether it's family or friends.
Thank you to Netgalley and Legend Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
A family Kos and vacation to a very secluded spot. Of course they lose power. All kinds of awful things are happening. They are in a locked room. That’s all the fixings for a hell of a thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was a little confused at the beginning about the characters. Once I got them straight read was wonderful. Thank you NetGally And the publisher for providing an advanced copy This wonderful
I really wanted to like this book but so many thrillers are becoming similar and I lose interest very quickly. After reading the first few chapters and seeing the surprise Christmas gift, my thoughts were this is going to get very interesting. The setting of the cabin was great and well described but there were just too many characters to keep up with and ALL of them had so much drama so it was a bit much. It just didn't seem realistic to me. There were some storylines that seemed to be thrown in just to try to throw you off the trail and didn't add much to the overall story. I felt these could have been left out and the book would have been just fine. I was really looking forward to this book but it just feel flat. I normally enjoy Lisa Unger and this in no way makes me give up on her books in the future. Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six was a fantastic read. It took me a little time to get to know all the characters and how they fit into the story, as there are time jumps too. Although, this is part of the twists and turns. You are not sure who everyone is. I just loved how everything tied together and even surprised me a little. The characters are flawed but this made it way more interesting. The setting was fantastic and really added to the story. I read this one really quickly and that is how I know it's good, I can''t stop reading. #SecludedCabinSleepsSix #NetGalley
This was a fun thriller, although it did take some time for me to get used to all the timeline changes and narrator changes, but once I could keep everything straight I enjoyed it. I was a little worried about portraying people who were conceived my spent donors as “evil” which she kind of did, but it wasn’t terrible. Over all it was fun and I liked the creepy cabin setting.
This was my first Lisa Unger book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m a sucker for a locked room mystery, especially when the story is comprised of terrible people. Our main character Hannah isn’t perfect, but she’s pretty easy to root for as the resident “good girl” known for following the rules and adoring her young daughter. She has a soft spot for her brother Mako, but she might be the only one who does. As I read this book, I just imagined Mako as Logan from season 1 of Westworld – basically just a jackass businessman.
(Also, if you want to play a drinking game at home, take a shot for every time the book mentions it’s “the Mako show”… because it felt like too much.)
But Mako has booked a long weekend at a luxurious cabin in the woods for him and his wife, Hannah and her husband, plus a close friend and her boyfriend. But little do they know that dark things are awaiting them at the cabin. We see these events unfold in many different POV chapters from multiple characters at or around the cabin, plus a seemingly random POV from a character with no ties to the others. But as the mystery unravels, you’ll find out everyone’s secrets and how it’s all connected.
This book may seem like a fairly standard locked-room mystery, but it actually has some deeper layers about family that I really appreciated. This book asks questions about identity and if your destiny is built into your DNA by your parents, or if you have the freedom to choose a different life. On the surface, I do feel like this seems like a guilty pleasure read about bad people, but I enjoyed these deeper questions and how everything came together at the end.

Three couples book a weekend at a remote, exclusive lodge. The story builds slowly, and it does feel at times, like there are two different almost unconnected stories/families in two separate locations. But you just know it's all going to melt into one, and it does. I enjoyed the book, and wanted to keep reading and find out what was going to happen and to who, because that was never obvious. A good read.
I requested this book because I loved the authors previous book and also I have seen it listed on many must read lists. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it as much as Confessions on the 7:45, but it still kept me interested enough to keep reading. It was described as a locked room mystery but it really is a lot more than that. The characters are interesting and varied with all having a back story. So three couples rent a cabin in a remote woods in North Georgia. When the couples arrive they are amazed to see the cabin is in fact a luxury lodge with an in house gourmet chef and more. With a storm brewing it is obvious they are going to be trapped here, but unlike other books in the same vein, here the guests weren’t picked off one by one. It was quite a relief really as that has been done to death……think Lucy Foley.
There are quite a few characters here and some of their stories take a while to join up with the main plot. All in all is good read, not one I would be enthusing over to friends.

Hannah is so excited to be spending a long weekend with her husband and two other couples at a luxurious cabin in the woods of GA. There are spectacular views, a personal chief and some time away for rest. The land has dark history and the chef isn’t afraid to let the couples know about the dark secrets. But the friends also have dark secrets that could be putting them all in danger. Can Hannah trust her brother and her best friend, Cricket? And can the 6 survive the weekend and the stranger that is with them?
This is my first book I’ve read by Lisa Unger. I have always enjoyed a locked-room type mystery where the suspect pool is small. This story is told in multiple timelines and multiple points of view which can be a little confusing to keep up with. The word “virile” is used more times than I can count and should never be used by a character to describe her brother😬 Overall I give this book 3/5⭐️
Thank you to Netgalley and Lisa Unger for an advanced copy of this book.
Three young couples head away for a weekend at a very secluded luxury resort home. It is scary, they lose power, and bad things start to happen. Hard to tell who is at fault, and how they can stop or get away. Kind of fun psychological thriller/suspense novel. #bookstagram #secludedcabinsleepssix #lisaunger #suspensenovel #reader #lovetoread #booksbooksbooks #booklover #booksaremagic #readallthebooks #takeapagefrommybook #psychologicalthriller #readersofinstagram #bookloversofinstagram #bookrecommendation #bookreview #threestarbooks #netgalley #advancedreaderscopy

This story follows three couples who rent a luxury isolated cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. Hannah's tech brother Mako has rented out this cabin for friends and family for a relaxing weekend away as a birthday gift to her. Joining them are Mako's wife Liza, Hannah's husband Bruce, their best friend Cricket and her boyfriend Joshua.
Unbeknownst to everyone this dreamy weekend is about to turn into a nightmare.
Unfortunately for me this book didn't quite hit the mark while it was a quick and easy read it felt more like reading two stories in one. These separate plot lines do link up eventually but there is a lot of jumping back and forth which took me out of the story quite abit.
As well as this the main story we are following is based at the cabin however everything happens on the first night with little build up, there isn't much too this weekend break which if you read the synopsis seems to be the whole point of the book.
This also means we meet the characters but there is very little character building to some of the side characters which made the story lack a little depth. This is probably due to the fact that we are following this alternate storyline with a character called Henry who's mom was murdered at a young age leaving him an orphan. Over time Henry starts researching his family to learn where he comes from and stumbles across many partially related family members who are being murdered one by one.
It made sense to have this alternate storyline otherwise the whole premise of the book and the motive would not make any sense and I feel Henry's character was much more developed but this is due to the fact that the parts of the story relating to him focus on him solely. While with the rest of the book we are trying to get to know 6 other main characters.
Overall this was an easy read, the concept of the DNA tests left for everyone at Christmas was an interesting plot point however who left them for everyone ncad why is never fully resolved. The title had all the makings of a good thriller story but in many aspects the book just felt a bit rushed and lacking in depth.
A fun whodunnit, particularly since so few of the characters have any redeeming qualities - you can take your pick of rooting for who dies and who makes it. I enjoyed the semi-closed-room setting. Would have liked a bit more information on the killer's motivations. I would definitely recommend this book for my mystery/thriller loving friends.
I enjoyed this book, immensely! From page one i was drawn into the story of 3 couples and the mysterious happening on their luxurious get away.
The back and forth timelines and the POV chapters from other characters had me dying to know how they were all connected.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.
I'll definitely be waiting for Lisa's next title!
It was like two books, different stories that end up being related. You knew it had to happen, but trying to figure out who was who was the mystery. Very good and hard to put down until you could figure out what was what. I loved it and love Lisa Unger's other books. Keep them coming! Highly recommend.
Lisa Unger delivered another solid thriller. I was pulled in from the very beginning and had a hard time putting this one down.
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a classic locked door thriller with a modern twist. Three couples are spending the weekend at a secluded cabin. Legend has it that the property has a gruesome past and owner is a bit creepy himself. No sooner do they arrive then a storm is barreling down on them and someone disappears. It seems more than one person has a secret. The reader can feel the tension pouring from the pages.
There is a second seemingly unrelated storyline that follows Henry, whose mom was murdered and his dad was an unknown sperm donor. Following a DNA test he finds he has some half sliblings. And of course there are more strange things going on. The two storylines eventually converge with some unexpected twists.
This was fun and had me on the edge of my seat. It is a perfect read for thriller fans.
I couldn't get into this book unfortunately. I found the plot to be very drawn out and repeatitive, with not much plot movement at all. The different character POVs were very disjointed and I didnt understand how they all related to each other until the last half of the book which was frustrating.

This book was one wild ride! It is clear from how this book was written that Lisa Unger is a master at her craft! I am a huge fan of locked room thrillers. It's a plot that has been done so many times, but I love seeing how authors put their spin on it and make it new.
There was a lot going on with this one from the start. It took me a little bit to figure out what was going on through the dual timelines and multiple POVs, but I knew everything she was writing was important and it would all come together at the end (which it did). Her spin on the locked room thriller comes from the genealogy tests that are so huge right now. She essentially posed the question of "How can this test come back and haunt you?" and delivered a firecracker of an answer! She crafted so much amazing tension throughout the pages that I ended up staying up until midnight to finish this one (which is saying something when you have a one year old that doesn't sleep through the night).
I loved Hannah and really felt for her as a mom going away for the first time. Our kiddos are similar in age, so I totally understood her panic in leaving her daughter. I was rooting for her the entire time to come out on the other end unharmed so she could make it back to her daughter.
I can't giveaway too much more than that, but I will say, this is a book you will want to devour when it hits shelves on November 8th!
You never know what DNA will discover...great input using it in the book haven't seen it done before. Fast paced family drama. Beginning was great getting to know all the family members. A little rushed at the end to me. Overall a fantastic read.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.
