This follows Bee and Nolan who are actors trying to break in to the industry by filming a new Christmas film for the Hope Channel in Vermont. However Bee is hiding the fact that she is also a porn star and if anyone finds out then the film could be in jeopardy.
This is a cute little Christmas read that does exactly what it says on the tin. Although this is set around Christmas I would say that you could still read this now as it definitely feels more wintery than Christmas.
There are plenty of spicy scenes in here and the characters are all likeable with a few funny moments especially with certain side characters.
I would recommend this a good festive read.
Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for gifting me a copy of this book for review.
🎧 Narrators can make or break how immersed you can get in an audiobook and this one was fantastic.
4⭐ 3🌶 perfect easy read for the lead up to Christmas. Was a bit unsure if the book would feel too cliche at the start but keep going and it is worth it.
I half listened to this on audio, half read on my Kindle and I enjoyed both experiences. The narrators did a fantastic job. I do love a good romantic comedy. A Merry Little Meet Cute hit the mark and met all my expectations. I read this one because of all the recommendations, and went into it not knowing much about it. It kind of reminded me of The Roommate by Rosie Danan, which I also really enjoyed.
Bee and Nolan are great main characters. They are funny, so sweet and the chemistry is off the charts.
So firstly my favourite part about this book is the fact that Bee is a plus size queen. I find that there aren't many rom com's which fully delve into characters looks, but A Merry Little Meet Cute faced this issue head on with grace and brutal honesty. It's a very modern book, which discusses the modern world - such as porn stars, an Only Fans kind of network and how different everyone's bodies are.
The only negative thing feeling I have towards this book was how the secret of her being a porn star came out. It just felt uncomfortable to me and I hated reading all the negativity towards the matter - but I think this was the outcome the authors were looking for.
I did find it a bit too long, and the second half dragged on for me but I still really enjoyed it! Even though it's meant to be a Christmas book, it didn't feel too festive so if people are worried about reading it now the season is over I'd still recommend.
This was a very cute and original romance. It takes place during Christmas, but I feel like you can kind of disregard that aspect of it, since the majority of the story plays out in a small town in Vermont that gets used year-round to film those typical Hallmark-y Christmas movies. So except for a few characters referring to not being able to spend the holidays with family, this could very well take place in the middle of summer.
Nolan, a former boyband member, and Bee, famous as a porn actress under the name Bianca, get cast in a romantic Christmas movie for a very clean "family values" kind of channel. He's trying to revive his career after a few scandals, she's looking to diversify the kind of work she's doing. It's paramount nobody finds out about Bee's other job, because it might jeopardize the movie. Which doesn't seem like a problem, were it not for the fact that Nolan has been following her for years on an OnlyFans-eqsue app and she's actually one of his favourite performers. Which actually turns out to be kinda good news, because Bee used to have a crush on Nolan when he was still in his boyband. Gosh, I wonder what will happen when two people with mutual crushes are staring opposite each other in a romantic movie?
You definitely need to suspend your disbelief quite a bit for this one, but once you manage to do that it's actually a fun read. Bee and Nolan are adorable together, and they have really good chemistry.
I had read from both authors before, but I had a hard time imagining what a combination of their styles would be like. Turns out, it's a near-perfect blend of cutesy sweet goo and steam hot enough to melt your glasses.
I switched between the ebook and the audiobook on this one. The audiobook narrators were really good. Nolan is read by Sebastian York, one of the gods of audiobook romances. Bee is read by Joy Nash, and she really brought Bee to life. I would recommend the audiobook over the physical book or ebook, if only to really make it easy to distinguish between both perspectives. It's really obvious who's perspective we're following in the audiobook, whereas they do tend to blend together a little bit in the alternative options.
A Merry Little Meet Cute was a unique and fun festive romantic comedy. I absolutely loved the premise of an adult film star being cast in a wholesome Hallmark style Christmas movie. I really enjoyed this steamy and festive romantic comedy and found myself giggling a lot more than I expected at some of the scenes in this book!
Bee Hobbes is such a fantastic character and I loved her attitude! She's a curvy adult film star who is confident and sexy, but also adorable and loveable! She's such a funny character and I fell in love with her. Nolan Shaw is the classic boy band member who gets up to no good and is trying to rebuild his image. He was really caring and considerate and a great love interest! The side characters for me were also brilliant! I loved how a lot of them came from the adult film industry and ended up working on the film as well, it was a nice extra touch and made for some hilarious moments!
The romance for me was excellent! I loved how both parties already knew each other and had crushes, I felt like it helped move the story along and made their tension more realistic and fun! I especially loved their first kiss, when Bee gives it everything, in true adult film style and Nolan is both surprised, but completely digs it! Their relationship was so flirty, fun and hilarious. The chemistry they had was brilliant and I just loved every scene with them together!
The only slight downside is that this book feels a little long in parts, but the story really makes up for that! I loved how festive and Christmassy it was! A Merry Little Meet Cute is a such fantastic romance for the holiday season and definitely one to pick up if you're looking for something a little spicier and different than your traditional festive romances!
A Merry Little Meet Cute is a steamy, sex-positive Christmas romance. The plot was perfect for a wintery easy reading romance. Personally, I didn't enjoy the male narration. It felt a little monotone and didn't capture my full interest however I think the physical book would be worth a read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audiobook ARC of 'A Merry Little Meet Cute' by authors Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone.
Honestly, I went into this book thinking it was a nice sweet YA book. Oh how we shouldn't judge a book by its author and its cover. The book was reaaallly detailed about sexual content - which isn't really my jam but the entwined plot was interesting to me. I always love a good movie based plot and this one was successful in that. One may argue that this book didn't have enough plot in comparison to sex but, its a Christmas romance. A lack of plot is fine.
I received this ARC as an audiobook and sadly, I wouldn't recommend the audiobook. For me, the readers were too slow speaking so I had to fast forward and make it 2.5x speed.... out of 3.
First audiobook have heard thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Audio, and I really enjoyed a lot of things !
I must confess I was a little scared at the beginning of the story after some comments on Goodreads, but I totally let myself immerse in this book and it was a lovely story. Yes, I agree, there are also some really spicy moments and comments, but never forget that one of the main character is a p*rn star ! So, this settled, you know what you're going to find !
Bee Hobbs is, against all odds, casted to play in a christmas movie. On set, she meets Nolan Shaw, a former boys band singer / bad boy who tries to give a new turn to his career. She has been a big fan of him when she was a teenager. He's one of her regular "customer" on her website. But they have never met before, they're just each other's fantasies.
The shooting takes place in a little village where all the christmas movies are filmed : everything is related to christmas (even the strip club, named the North pole). Bee and Nolan imediatly connect but regarding to her career, and his bad boy's past, they have to keep secret their relation...
So yes, there are some spicy scenes. But there is mainly a beautiful story, a body positive mind, kind words and funny comments. I've felt all the feelings reading this one, from happiness to sadness, and that's why this is a big yes for me !
As a non native speaker, I really enjoy practice my english by listening to audio books. I loved the voices of the two narrators, which allowed me to dive in the story, even if at the beginning I struggled with the accent which was sometimes strong. But I managed to understand anyway so it doesn't really matter (and you get used to it).
Okaaaay, I didn't know I needed a spicy Christmas book in my life before I picked up Merry Little Meet Cute, and now I need at least four more! I'm reaaaally hoping to see these two authors working together again and giving us more spicy Christmas books within this universe because there's a WHOLE Angel that needs his happy ending, as well as Sunny! I'm just saying.
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself a little bit! So, I picked this up because of Julie Murphy, I'll be honest. That and the title and cover looked cute and I was ready for Christmas vibes! I slightly glossed over the porn star part of the synopsis because I was like "OMG CHRISTMAS MOVIE COSTARS" and you know, all the other little tropey things I love but I have to say...I loved it.
Merry Little Meet Cute is so sex positive given that Bee is a porn star herself but it's also fat positive too because Bee is plus-size. Add in the romance and the Christmas vibes and the general humour and I was absolutely living. I genuinely couldn't wait to carry on reading this but I also didn't want to finish reading it because I was having such a good time!
I loved the way the town was crafted as this little all year round Christmas haven because of it's use as a set, and I also loved the little nods to Christmas here and there from the flavoured hot chocolate, to the candy cane curtains to the street and bar names and so on.
Bee was brilliant. I loved her and I was rooting for her. She's strong, she doesn't take any crap from anyone and she's just brilliant. I don't know what else to say like she's so comfortable in her own skin and just so freaking cool! Nolan on the other hand is your typical misunderstood ex-boyband member. Or rather, sometimes misunderstood because he's involved himself in many hijinks but I loved the queer rep that he brought to the book along with Bee's mums and some other characters.
Honestly, that's why I'm describing this book as positive. Yes, there's a moment towards the end when the internet does it's thing, but for the most part this book has so much positive rep, so many positive vibes and is just super cosy....with a dose of spicy smut here and there to go with it all! It was a brilliant combination, but the story also had heart with Nolan trying his best to turn over a new leaf and take care of his mum and sister, while falling for Bee and Bee trying to make the most of this chance at a new opportunity!
Of course, to keep the Hopeflix production squeaky clean, the two of them can't get involved with each other but that doesn't stop the tension between them from smouldering and their chemistry was palpable!
Alongside the sweet and steamy romance, there's also plenty of humour and hijinks from what Nolan had previously gotten up to, to Teddy or 'Uncle Ray-Ray's' tales of the porn world. I actually really liked him okay, he's a porn mogul but he's out here in his Hawaiian shirts being so awkwardly sweet! He's also got an interesting sounding family who I'd love to meet, like we already met Angel but I need to meet the rest! There's some other brilliant side characters too by the way, from supportive BFF Sunny to eccentric costumer Luca and all of them have some wild tales and/or backstories to go with them!
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I loved the characters, they were an interesting and entertaining bunch and Bee and Nolan in particular were so well fleshed out and brought to life. Yes, there's the odd cheesy moment here and there, and a fair few tropes but it just worked within this book. It's a cosy, sweet Christmas romance but it's also got some spice and it's a combination I couldn't have predicted loving quite so much! Like I said, please give me more, Julie and Sierra!
So I think this was okay? Writing is inoffensive, some light banter, a few themes tackled (albeit very briefly) and ending nicely wrapped up with a festive bow 🎁
The characters and plot were relatively predictable and surface level which is pretty standard for your run of the mill cheesy Christmas movie style story, and hits the spot if that’s what you’re after 👌🏽 the location itself is festive but feel it could have been more Christmassy?
Talking about spots… 😏 This has some spice to it which doesn’t hold back on detail but isn’t as naughty as I thought it might be, some fade to black moments too.
I started listening to the audiobook but just couldn’t do it 😅 the male American narrator was just so monotone and the female American was too exaggerated, I couldn’t take either of them seriously! Much better when I switched to reading the print, and overall, mostly does what it says on the tin… although actually, it’s not very merry or little or meet cute!? 🫠
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to listen to this advanced copy of the audiobook.
Both narrators did a good job in this dual POV romantic comedy, bringing the story to life. For me though it was a little far fetched. I former boy band member and a porn star meeting on the set of a low budget Christmas movie and the only person who recognises her is the pop star? Although I did stick with it and finished the book I am sorry to say it was not all that memorable.
This was pure cheesy filth from a book and I absolutely loved it! Is it realistic? Probably not but that didn't matter when all you wanted to know was if Bee and Nolan were going to get together or not. I'll definitely be looking at Christmas literature in a whole new way now! 😉
Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I realised I had made a mistake when Christmas films were compared to porno. My expectations were what ruined the book for me, as I assumed it was a cute Christmas book, not a steamy romance. If you are looking for the latter you might like this book.
I could not get over the cringy dialogue and the porn star and the pop star storyline. The book also didn’t feel like Christmas. You could change the setting to summer and it would still work.
There were some good qualities to the book though. I liked the conversations around porn and how it’s not some shameful thing, and I loved having a fat main character who loved her body and was always seen as desirable. The representation was also great and I liked that both main characters were both bisexual.
The audiobook was exceptionally good. I loved the narrator’s voices, it’s just too bad I didn’t like the story.
Overall this book wasn’t for me but I can see some people who go in with the right expectations enjoying it.
This was such a cute story! I really enjoyed it. It was perfectly seasonal, like a hallmark movie. I'm definitely gonna reread this in the future.
The narrators did a great job bringing it to life.
“He thanked God for rogue wooden tusks the entire way.”
You know the phrase ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’? This cover (and the title) lied to me.
Now, I’m going to say it was not a bad book. It was actually quite good. It just was not at all the vibe I was expecting.
I was expecting a cute, happy, uncomplicated hallmark Christmas book. Instead, I got Christmas smut. Like butt-clenching-within-three-minutes-of-the-audiobook Christmas smut.
Bee is a plus sized pornstar. Nolan unashamedly loves said porn. Fortunately, they both fancy the pants (literally) off each other.
I loved how proud Bee was of her job and her body, and so she should be! I also liked how everyone else around her who knew her job respected it.
There’s a lot of casual LGBTQ+ rep in this - I’m pretty sure both main characters are bisexual.
I wish there had been less miscommunication but, as far as that trope goes, this wasn’t too bad. They got over it pretty quickly, it was just annoying whilst it lasted.
But honestly, I still enjoyed it, despite it not at all being what I wanted to read? It was such a fun premise, the characters were good, and it did make me feel kind of Christmassy.
I was disappointed with this story, it was too cheesey and unbelievable in some areas. I need something to connect with in any book and this book I was unable to connect with the characters and the storyline. Therefore I was unable to give it more than 3 stars, the premise was really good sadly it fell short in delivering on a great story.
Audiobook was good it offered an easier way to listen and was good.
This is a wholesome, fun, adult romance novel that hit all the notes I was looking for this festive season. A porn star, Bee, decides to diversify her career by appearing in a family-centred holiday movie. There she encounters her teenage crush, Nolan, who is the former “bad boy” of a manufactured pop group trying to rebuild his career and support his family. Fat representation, bisexuals and queers everywhere, snow and scenic locations, film trivia, sex positivity, and lots of banter. A Merry Little Meet Cute is a delightful listen. The narrators are great. If this description appeals to you, it will probably be exactly what you want.
What can happen when a adult movie producer starts to produce Hallmark type movie but half the crew in from the first type of movies? A lot of hillarious situations!
Bee is a plus size porn star trying to make a change in her career, this is her chance to see if she can be an actress and find her footing in a new role.
Nolan is a boy bad bad boy that is making a comeback, he needs this new opportunity to help his family and than means he can't jeopardize it for anything, even if his co-star looks very familiar, like his dreams has come true.
Bee and Nolan have a crush on the other from a far but now that they work together it is difficult to resist, especially when their first on set kiss set fireworks all around!
The only thing I didn't found particularly logic was how Bee though that no one would recognize her since she was a star and has her very own following, I saw that fall out coming from the beginning.
If you like Christmas movies and steamy romances, like 5 level steamy, this is the book for you!
The audiobook is narrated by Joy Nash and Sebastian York who both did an incredible job with it!
* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
What a whirlwind of a book!
I love reading steamy romance books and this one did not disappoint! When I saw that there is a plus size main character and also a holiday setting, I was sold!!! We have all the Christmas feels, spicy scenes.. what's not to love?!
The storyline is really interesting and unique, I had my fair share of steamy books and I don't think I've ever seen this concept in another book!
The first 4-5 chapters were kinda slow for me but once I got hooked, I've gobbled the book in one sitting!
The cover is also super cute and the audiobook narrators were pleasant.
I am looking forward to be reading more gems from this author!
Thank you Netgalley for providing me a free copy of the audiobook in exchange of my honest opinion.
This looks like such a cute, sweet little novel but it's much steamier than I expected! I enjoyed the inclusivity and representation, and I did like the idea behind it but unfortunately this just wasn't the book for me.
