I didn't realise this was a sequel as this information is tucked further into the description than I read as I prefer not to be spoiled (which often happens with synopsises these days). Whether you need to read book one or not though I don't know - the text on my file was only a few shades different to my kindle background which made it really difficult to read so barely a few pages in I had to DNF.
