This is a series that I truly enjoy reading, it’s a wonderful community with great characters who feel like friends. This is the 6th book and the series is still going strong. Jo Bartlett always brings us a story filled with drama as well as romance; this book is another emotional tale that fills us with hope, joy and the potential to get a happy ever after.
We focus on Nadia’s story this time as she navigates life back in the village as a single mum, her Mum Frankie is also one of the midwives in the community and is also moving forward in a new relationship that she is keeping quiet for the good of others.
It’s a delight to catch up with old characters as well and seeing how their stories/lives have developed. It’s such a close knit community, as a reader I felt right in the heart of everything.
As always it is well written, with moments that really pull those heartstrings. I recommend this series, start at the beginning (even through you don’t have to) as they are all brilliant.
I look forward to the next visit.

Nothing beats slipping into your cozy, comfy, relaxed zone than a cozy, comfy, fun, easy-to-read crime thriller. And Debbie Young's St. Bride from the Adult School series is a perfect match! Part 2 of
Ms. Young's new series, quirky staff, lovely schoolgirls (who have just the right amount of mischief to pet them), and pure fun all at the core of 'Mystery' It was added to the plot to become and it was a lot of fun. items. As an added bonus, you'll also meet characters from Ms Young's Sophie Sayers mystery series. Put me first on your list for the next story in the
series! What does this mean for the future of the school, its students and its eccentric staff? A reversal plot that made me want to return, well complemented by secrets. Agatha Christie Meets St. Trinian! I'm giving this her 4.5 stars because it would have been nice if the last few chapters were a little tighter. But maybe it was just my impatience to find out! If you're looking for a light British crime thriller set in the English countryside, this is it!

This is a fun romance that's great for the lead up to the festive period.
This is by a new to me author, but I did like the authors writing style, it was fast paced and made the story enjoyable to read.
Definitely a good one for fans of Christmas contemporary romances.
Another wonderful story from St Agnes. The reason I love these stories are that they focus on one particular individual whilst still being within the community of the people we've already met and loved with a Christmas story being a bonus
This is the first book in the series I have read, and I wish I had read them all from the beginning as that would have enhanced my reading of this particular book. Having said that though, this reads perfectly well as a standalone as well.
First up, I really liked that it was written from the POV of Nadia, her mother Frankie and Hamish, the new dishy doctor in the village. I would have expected the whole book to be about Nadia and Hamish and their developing friendship/relationship but it was lovely to have the character of Frankie in there as well - an older woman who is dating again AND studying. I found myself cheering Frankie on, all the way. However, I wanted her to not get so upset about her son's behaviour - but perhaps that was more of a cultural thing or the way she had been brought up by her dreadful mother. When you have been conditioned since childhood to behave a certain way, it is hard to change. Still and all, she was quite a woman and her relationship with Guy made me smile :)
Nadia is an amazing midwife and mother and I admired her as well. I liked that the path of the relationship with Hamish did not run smooth, just like it does in real life.
A lovely, Christmassy story.
The only thing that would have made it better for me was an epilogue - although, if there is another book in the series, that would be lovely and will take care of the "what happens next" aspect of things :)
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.
I did request this book accidentally thinking from the title that it veered into the paranormal romance genre, which is my usual haunt. Despite that, I found myself being pleasantly dragged into a wonderfully crafted, easy flowing tale. The principle character, Nadia was a realistic, down to earth mum, facing the pressures of juggling work and bringing up a young family having just separated from her husband.
I really enjoyed this book and will gladly look for more by this author.
I absolutely love reading this series as the author has got the balance bang on, each time we spend the book with a different midwife and get to know them and their families.
In this story we are with Nadiya and her gorgeous children after she has returned from New Zealand. We get a glimpse into her reasons for returning to Port Agnes and watch as she tries to lay a future out for herself and her children.
These books always grab my attention early as Jo has such a wonderful way of drawing you into the story, so that you feel like you've never left the midwives.
I absolutely loved this story and couldn't wait for an excuse to sit down and keep reading 🥰
would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this heartfelt book
when nadias marriage ended she was living in new zealand with her two young children but ended up moving back home to england and was living back with her mother in a two bedroom flat
nadia was a midwife and soon found her feet back in the community and working life and her mom had recently split from her husband and was back at university finishing her midwife course
life was difficult doing the main parenting as her ex was enjoying life in new zealand and was gradually pulling away from their children
doctor hamish spencer also had two children and one of them was the same age as nadias and when they literally bumped into each other at school pick up they were both late but where as hamish was more or less let off nadia was not....life was not fair
this was a lovely heartfelt book with christmas and new babies added into the mix and life was going to get a bit bumpy for nadia her mother and hamish.....
lovely little series and one i will be keeping a look out for
I'm a huge fan of the Midwife series. I have loved them all.
The way the author tells the story makes you fall in love with the characters and then you are invested in their lives.
This one is no exception.
I still want to know things about them. I will have to wait patiently for another book so I can carry on learning about the team that I feel I know.
I want to be there for the new babies and the weddings to come. This is what makes it a great series. You finish one book and instantly can't wait for then next.
having read some of this collection before i was excited to read this book and i wasn’t disappointed! Jo’s books are like a hug in a book, the characters and storylines pull you and you down want to let go until you have read it all!
just the right mix of winter fun and christmas makes this a book you can read all year round
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Mistletoe and Magic for the Cornish Midwife by Jo Bartlett. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.
I had a lot of problems connecting with the characters in this novel. Nadia and Dr. Hammish were a good match, but their romance was a slow burn, and I couldn't stay invested. I will admit that it might be my problem and not an actual issue with the writing. It seemed to be well-written and there were no obvious reasons why I didn't enjoy it. So, in other words, give it a try yourself and see how it hits you.
Another great read from Jo Bartlett and of course I always love a great Christmas read. This one being part of a series of which I haven't read any of the others is still great as a stand alone novel and I really enjoyed it (will have to find the first five in the series now!).
The Christmas theme played only a very small role in this novel though but that didn't take away from the story itself. It is an emotional story, a bit of drama and lots of family, friendships and of course midwives! The characters were varied and interesting, the connections were believable and throughout there was always hope.
There is a bit of confusion in the writing of this book as it is told through the eyes of three different people which can be a bit off-putting. But all in all it is a great book, easy to read and brings to life family and friendship.
What could be better than a festive return to Port Agnes.
Time to be introduced to Nadia who has returned from New Zealand to work in the unit. Will Nadia fit back into Port Agnes?
Perfect for cosying up with on these dark evenings.
Our familiar faces feature once more and it’s great to see what they are up to.
TW : Cancer and miscarriage
Thank you Boldwood for another gorgeous opportunity to read and acquire one of your books, this series has felt like home to me. I have been following it since the beginning and much like the Shopaholic series it felt like revisiting with an old friend. This one is extra special as it is set around a Christmas time. I love the character of Nadia and was so pulling for her to find love throughout the novel. Dr. Spencer’s is a great swoons character and love interest and I loved reading how their relationship develops over the course of the novel. I will be sharing more thoughts and a full review soon, but I was very satisfied after reading this book. It definitely got me out of a reading slump. 5 stars for sure. I hope there are many more books in the series to come as Jo Bartlett is a fantastic writer, Thank you again!

The brand new instalment in the top 10 bestselling Cornish Midwife series!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
But for single mum and busy midwife Nadia, it’s quickly turning into her worst Christmas ever.
Her marriage is over, and whilst her husband has moved on, Nadia finds herself back home, squashed into her mum’s spare room with her two small children. They might not be a perfect family anymore, but Nadia is determined to make this Christmas special for them.
Dr Hamish Spencer totally understands Nadia’s pain. As a fellow single parent, he’s struggling to cope with a rebellious teen daughter and a precocious six-year-old! Perhaps if he and Nadia join forces, they could make this Christmas slightly more memorable for everyone?
The last thing Nadia wants is a new man in her life, but she’d definitely like lovely Hamish as a friend. But Christmas has a way of melting the hardest of hearts and maybe a kiss under the mistletoe could change everything?
Hard to follow and in no way engaging-do yourself a favor and move on to the better Christmas fiction that is waiting out there for you..
Yet another fabulous book by Jo continuing the Cornish Midwife series. All of the books have been comfortable and easy reading and this one is no exception.
I have love every moment of this series from the beginning of the first book. I love that this isn't the kind of series where you barely hear about the characters from the previous books - you actually get to stay involved with those characters and see how their lives continue on after they find their partners. In Mistletoe & Magic we get to learn more about Frankie and how her relationship with Guy is progressing. It's also amazing that someone as amazing and loving as Frankie could raise a son who was such a major jerk. I loved Nadia telling him off! And as for Nadia, I really enjoyed her part of the story as well. I loved how her relationship with Hamish did really grow from a friendship and mutual understanding of what it was to be a single parent. I understand Saffron's feelings about her father bringing a new woman into the family, especially given how other women were with her father. One of my favorite scenes in the book as when Hamish had his heart-to-heart with Saffron and talked about his feelings for Nadia. Nadia's ex was such a spoiled little brat and I could not figure out what she ever saw in him or why she stayed for so long. For that reason, I was so glad that there was never a moment for her when she wondered if she should give him another try. And she ended up getting the dog back, so she really did get a happy ending! As always, the parts with the expecting parents and deliveries were beautifully done.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I love the Cornish Midwife series, and this is the 6th book, and once again it didn’t disappoint.
In this story, Nadia and her mum Frankie are the main characters, as well as Dr. Hamish. Both Nadia and Dr. Hamish are single parents and their 6 year old daughters are best friends.
Leaving her husband who was cheating on her in New Zealand, Nadia came back to Port Agnes with her children, and is living with her mum Frankie.
Her mother is dealing with a family relationship and the start of a new romance.
The characters are supportive of each other, the community and love their jobs. It was lovely to meet up with them and read about what’s happening in their lives.
I highly recommend this book.
Absolutely adore this series and this book was no exception. I’ve the plot and characters. Another amazing read that’s left me wanting more can’t wait for the next one in the series.
One more gem from Jo Bartlett . An other story about a mother and daughter who are both midwives . In this book the theme is life after divorce and how women with young children cope . It talk about pregnancy and cancer and what the mother to be has to suffer . I just loved it .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
