A horror occult story that grabs the reader’s attention from the beginning. The characters will keep you entertained and the story is an intriguing read. A must read.

Many thanks to Creative Edge Publishing LLC and Kaylin McFarren for the advanced copy of Requiem For A Queen via NetGalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review. Quick note: I don’t recap plots in my reviews, as it’s easy enough to read the book’s synopsis and blurbs, I purely focus on my feelings & opinions of how the books makes me feel.
Unfortunately I could not get into this book, mostly due to it being the third book in the series. It was difficult to get a grasp of the individual characters, their powers and weaknesses, and who was on whose side.
The dialogue between characters was quite stilted and the writing was often quite flat and cliched.
Perhaps it would have been more enjoyable and certainly would have made more sense had I read the first two books in the series, but without the first two, and with the amount I did read, my overall impression was of poor quality writing.

The author, Kaylin McFarren, brings us the third book in the Gehenna series.
Requim for a Queen is a dark fantasy adventure that explores Good vs Evil, the relationship between a mother & their child, and the occult. There are some graphic scenes, but once you get through those, the book is overall fast paced and captivating.
Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, you can jump right in without much confusion.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and BookBuzz for a copy!
I haven’t read the first two books in this series but it didn’t matter. The world building in this series was fantastic and I felt as though this book was great even if it was a standalone book. The exploration of what it means to be a mother was raw and as a mother myself I could relate so much to how Sam felt. The story is gripping and the balance between what is good and what is evil sits in a very grey area. I definitely want to read the first two having read this one just to fill in some of the backstory.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC copy.
