Jeanette Rose and Alexis Rune give us a unique modern retelling full of Hades and Persephone. You will find witty banter, hot sexting and even hotter scenes between these pages!

In this version, Hades spends six months out of the year fulfilling his typical duties as the God of the Dead in the Underworld and the other six months above ground playing nursemaid to the gods and goddesses who have chosen to leave Olympus to live with the mortals on earth. Persephone, the Goddess of Spring, has finally convinced her mother to allow her off Olympus and has been living on earth for the past two years. But she has been hiding. She has her own strict set of rules to follow, or her mother will pull her right back. She comes into Hades’ radar when her funds are cut off, and she must face the man who holds the purse strings.

This is a slow burn. When the two meet for the first time, the sexual tension abounds, as well as their clear disdain and hatred for one another. I enjoyed that the story takes place in the real world, a twist of sorts for Greek Gods. While the story is somewhat predictable (it is based on a well known Greek myth after all), the spiciness kicked up the heat.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Rose & Star Publishing for introducing me to my next spicy series. I eagerly anticipate book #2.

I was looking for something that was going to fill a Hades and Persephone shaped hole and this hit the mark! And then some!

It was such an interesting take on the classic story and one that I’ve not seen before. Defintrlry towards the higher end on the spice scale but this didn’t detract from the story at all.

Can’t wait to find out what happens in book 2…. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it’s not a long wait.

Great read. I’ve read a lot of different versions of Hades & Persephone, and this was up there with the very best!

I have a lot of mixed emotions with this book. First off, there’s A LOT of smut in this book and even though it’s pretty good smut it definitely takes a lot away from the plot. There really was barely any sort of plot in this book. I did really like some parts about this book though! All lot of aspects were included that made this book different from other Hades x Persephone retellings. One of my complaints though, is how unrealistic this book was. For example, even though I enjoyed seeing Hades being more vulnerable I feel like stuttering over text and in real life doesn’t fit him at all. I also didn’t like Persephone that much either. First off, I felt like she was starting issues with Hades over very very small things. I also wasn’t a huge fan of how she insisted on being with Hades while she was seeing someone.

Definitely not the best retelling ever but an enjoyable read especially for smut lovers!

I was not expecting that cliff hanger. This was really good and I really hope a sequel comes soon. This is one of the better Hades/Persephone retellings I’ve read.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.
This read was nice and fast pace. Easy to read but lacking of a solid plot. In my opinion what is happening in the last 10% should have happened way sooner as it finally looks like something else than sex is happening. Don't get me wrong the smut and everything is great but too much in my opinion. There was so much more potential than just the two MC that can't keep their hand from each others. It is a good read if you just want the sex without the plot, and are ready for a bit of thing happening at the end of the book.
That can be for someone else, but for me I needed more, to be honest at the end I was skipping a lot of the scene as it didn't bring anything new.

“Welcome little rat, I’ve been waiting for you”
“If you need … feeding, you know where to come, little spring”
“Come do it yourself, coward”
I’m in awe !!!! This is probably my second favourite Hades and Persephone retelling of all time !!!!
I mean … wow !!!!
Honestly this book was all about the tension, the sexual compatibility and attraction between the two main characters and honestly … I don’t care if the plot was just mentioned once in a while … the spicy more than did the trick to make me completely caught in it!!!
This is definitely one of the spiciest version of their tale I’ve read about recently !!!
This time … HADES REALLY HAS A MOUTH ON HIM !!!! I feel like this is the perfect book for fans of “Neon Gods” by Katee Robert!!!
This book has so many tropes: enemies to lovers, boss romance, forced proximity, ill unalive everyone who touches you, and such great possessive vibes.
Plus there may be a very interesting scene involving his shadows, her vines and a phone call, she has to answer to!!!
I loved this book and I honestly cannot wait for the sequel to be out !!!
“You’re going back to him to realise that I’m the one you need”
“Do not ever doubt how much I want you. I’d give my entire kingdom and crown to have you”

I love Hades/Persephone stories. Like, a lot. This is my 5th book since October that is based on the myth. I was in love with Hades by page 14. The way he had to deal with his brothers and their ridiculous fighting had me giggling. Persephone was fun and likable. I appreciated that she was naive in some aspects, like her finances, but a completely capable, fierce woman when it came to her job and her friends. The locked-away-from-the-world naive girl from the myth was there but not in annoying way. I appreciated that. I would have loved to have Mellie around more just because she was a fun character but all the sex made up for it. The chemistry between Hades and Persephone was 🔥🔥🔥 I was waiting for a completely ballistic Demeter to show up but I guess that will. be next? Hopefully?I can’ wait to see what happens next!

Hmmm. I love retellings of the Hades and Persephone story, so I was really keen to read this book. I saw the warning that it was 'spicy' and usually that's not an issue for me BUT in this case the sex completely swamped the Hades/Persephone retelling. I don't know why the authors said this was a retelling of this Greek myth, they could have set it in high school and changed the characters' names. It read to me like this immortal god and goddess were more like hormonal teenagers, completely at the mercy of their volatile mood swings, even down to being stroppy and stomping off. Not at all what i was expecting of a god and goddess! and drowning out the H/P aspect of the story.

I got to about 35% of the way through and had to abandon it. A shame.

I really enjoyed this retelling of Hades and Persephone in a more modern take. The twist of their fates being a curse was a nice touch. Although their story seemed to move very quickly for me the spice was the at the right amount to make me not want to put the book down.

I hope we get a continuation of the story!!

I really loved the premise and ideas behind The Maiden and the Unseen. I really liked the idea of the setting and even the take on Hades and Persephone. This Hades and Persephone retelling has the same issues as all the others - insta love. I can't do it, it's never believable. I always want to KNOW more how they came to be but it never works that way. It felt like some of their history was missing.

The retelling of Hades and Persephone in modern times sees the story being told of them joining to rule the underworld.
It’s super spiced but still a great storyline that left me wanting more.
With interesting side characters that I would love to learn more about its full of modern day insecurities when in a new relationship with both POV shown it’s not just one sided.
The perfect amount of spice with a backstory worthy of its own book.
I was definitely left wanting more and will read the next book.
Thank you to Jeanette Rose, Alexis Rune and Net Galley for letting me review an advance copy of this book

I see a Hades and Persephone retelling and I immediately click. Sadly, like most other retellings, this one starts off great and then falls flat. I think the author got caught up in the spicy scenes and everything became repetitive. If you’re looking for spice and little to no plot, then this is perfect for you.

This is a hades/Persephone retelling! While I liked it, I feel that new plot and world building is needed. It has a lot of smut and while I like that! I would love to know more about the characters! Hopefully the next book will get int more plot!

I received this book as an arc from NetGalley and was really excited to finally read it. All I knew was that it was supposed to be a retelling of Hades and Persephone. As a great enthusiast of the greek mythology, I had great expectations, but unfortunately they were not quite fulfilled.

It is a modern retelling with a very clear focus on romance and spice... a lot of spice. I liked the characters and it was entertaining to read. Unfortunately, the plot and the depth of the story were not quite what I had hoped for and in my eyes there is still a lot that could be improved. I had the feeling that the story was mainly about the spice and something was clearly missing.

It is not an earth shattering book tbh but it kept me entertained for a few hours. I would recommend this book if you like spicy romance books, if you are reading this because of the mythology of Hades and Persephone you might be disappointed.

I am all for the retelling of the story of Hades and Persephone, however, this one wasn’t for me. It had a really great beginning but then it started to feel repetitive and there did not seem to be much of an underlying story. There is definitely an audience for this story and perhaps, the story and the characters will be fleshed out better in the second book.

If you are looking for something hot and steamy then this is definitely the book for you. Interesting plot and plenty of erotic content. I enjoyed this read.

3/5 stars
I was very interested in how the author would tell this story. I do believe it should be more plot-driven, but the book was still enjoyable nonetheless. I look forward to reading the sequel :)

This book is all spice and everything nice. And, if you’re looking for that, then you found it!

It is definitely not a typical romance book, there’s no build-up and I struggled with the fact that I just didn’t see a lot of chemistry between the characters at the beginning. I also felt that the story was lacking some actual plot.

But, it is a fun and enjoyable read, if you’re not looking for something too complex!
