This is a name that many children will recognise - and if they don’t then most will be aware of the characters played by this famous actor.

Known as being a box office success, it was really interesting to learn about his early life followed by how his career began. It also covered some harder times in Dwayne’s life as well as the successes.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.

My class (and family) lived this title. It's now one of our most requested books and children have enjoyed making artwork to reflect the story

As a huge wrestling fan I was delighted to see Dwayne Johnson as the latest Little People, Big Dreams book! I love how it tells his true story in a way that reads just like a fictional children’s book. A story sure to influence many young minds and hearts with fantastic illustrations. I love how they accurately depicted his wrestling gear!!!

We love these books in our home, so had high expectations and they were easily met. The illustrations are so lovely and warm and aid the story of little Dwayne's journey becoming The Rock. Who doesn't love The Rock? Well if you're not sure I think you'll be a fan after this book.

I'm getting this one to share with my children AND recommending it to others. I learned more about Dwayne Johnson and was moved reading his story. Great read, thank you for the review copy.

I love sharing these books with my children so when I saw there was one for Dwayne (The Rock!) Johnson I knew I had to give it a go.
He is a firm favourite in my house (for different reasons) so we all enjoyed finding out more about how he got to where he is today despite some set backs along the way.

I really enjoy the books in this series but this one was a little disappointing.

The background and biography part are fine and I thought it was great that they showed his route and that it wasn't always successful and popular and that he suffered with is mental health but the illustrations really let the book down this time as they don't actually look (to me) anything like him.

It is 3.5 stars from me for this one, rounded up to 4 stars for Goodreads and Amazon

As always another great book from a brilliant series of books. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with these books and I know i will always enjoy and learn more about whoever the person is.
Now, I am a huge fan of Dwayne Johnsons films so I was already aware of who he was.
But I never had a clue that he had suffered from depression and literally came from nothing when his family lost everything.
Great read, and very inspiring.

‘Dwayne Johnson’ looks into the life and growth of The Rock, a wrestler and actor so many of us grew up seeing. It talks about his early life, his sports, his wrestling career and then his transition towards becoming an actor. But the thing it highlights beautifully is his character and personality; dedicated, hard-working and a kind human being.

I really like the Little People, Big Dreams series and have read some to my 5 and 6 year olds. This one is a great addition and we will be re-reading this a few times.

Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book in the Little People, Big Dreams series and it mainly caught my eye because I recognized that name, "Dwayne Johnson" as being "The Rock" and I wanted to know more! It was quite enjoyable reading about his early years and what led up to his wrestling career and afterward, beautifully illustrated, and has a great more detailed timeline found at the end summarizing everything.

I found quite a few interesting tidbits I never knew and think this book puts forth a great message for children to never give up and to keep striving and moving forward even when life gets you down and always understand that just because things don't always turn out as you have planned doesn't mean something even better is just ahead!

Dwayne Johnson will always be "The People's Champion" and I'll always wonder "What The Rocks Been Cooking!"

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this advanced copy for my honest review.

My nephew was ecstatic to discover that his reading time with auntie today included a book about ‘The Rock.’

We learned that Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born into a family of wrestlers yet wanted to do something different to make a name for himself. He made it to the Canadian Football League to play for the Calgary Stampeders, but was cut from the team after just two months. Dwayne headed back home with a bruised ego and body injuries that would keep him from his football career. The Stampeders' slogan is "Whatever it takes." What happens when an athlete gives whatever it takes and it still doesn't work out?

What makes this book special is that kids read about someone who gave it his best shot and it still didn’t work out. Life happens. It’s what you do after that disappointing news that will make a person or break them. After focusing on his mental health, Dwayne decided to follow his father and grandfather’s legacy and take up wrestling. The road to ‘The People’s Champion’ was not straight nor was it easy.

The author highlights Dwayne’s talent, hard work and determination as factors in achieving his success. Parents and educators can springboard off this book to talk about backup plans and attitude adjustments as well as refining one’s vision of success.

This is a spectacular book.

I was gifted this advance copy by Quarto Publishing Group, Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

‘Dwayne Johnson’ is another addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. It outlines Dwayne’s early life in sports - something I didn’t know about prior to this book. It details simply his well-known wrestling career and accomplishments in that field before talking about how he made his move into film. Crucially, it points out his humble, hardworking heart and his aim to uplift those around him.

Another great addition to the series, with beautiful illustrations to engage the reader further. A good timeline at the end with additional detail. A good book for 5-7 year olds, about someone they would recognise. It shows them the power of determination, that you can keep having dreams and grow up to be more than one thing.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book about Dwayne Johnson which is part of the Little People Big Dreams series has beautiful illustrations as usual and is about a strong male showing signs of mental and physical strength, hardship and dreams. The colours are engaging and the text is short but informative, ideal for young minds wanting to learn whilst also being inspiring. It is diverse and engaging. I even learned things I didn't know and it makes you want to go away and learn more, it is extremely engaging.
