This is such a cute book and I love that "Cat Family" is a series so we can join them on many adventures.
I just adore the art style of this - it's comforting, familiar, and nostalgic. It honestly reminds me of being little again and I appreciate that.
What could a cat family do, 12 days before Christmas? Here we are regaled with pretty illustrations, and some dreamy descriptions on the 12 days to Christmas Eve with Cat Family. How they prepare and also have fun during the preparation of the big day. This book is so heartwarming and pretty to enjoy too.
#CatFamilyChristmas #NetGalley Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel. I encourage you to check this one out! Really cute book.
Super cute Christmas advent book. The illustrations are warm and cozy. They remind me of an old Victorian era book. Little ones and big kids alike will enjoy this story.
Cat Family Christmas by Lucy Brownridge helps children (and their parents) countdown to Christmas. The decadent illustrations will delight everyone who owns this book. It is a lift-the-flap advent book - with over 140 flaps but as I read a digital ARC I am not able to comment on the full experience of the book.
The story itself follows the Christmas preparations of a family of cats and their kittens. What I really liked is that the Mom cat is represented as the earning parent. The town also consists of other animal families but not much is described about their lives. I do wish the character names were easier to correlate with the illustrations and recall.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. #NetGalley #CatFamilyChristmas

My Review: As we already discussed this season, I love books with cats, especially when you add in Christmas. This was a really cute book that takes us through the Cat Family holiday preparations and classic traditions. There are TONs of open the flaps for lots of fun for those littles. The illustrations and the events throughout the book definitely capture that Victorian era feel for a heirloom feeling book but with the bonus of being able to be handled by everyone, not carefully like books from the actual Victorian era.
My Rating: This was a really different and unique book that I enjoyed. There is so much going on in those detailed illustrations and the lift the flaps, there will be hours spent just enjoying them all and finding little secrets throughout. I give it a rating of Three Paws and a Stump Wag.
Cat Family Christmas; A lift-the-flap advent book - With over 140 flaps by Lucy Brownridge was an absolute delight! The illustration are beautiful enough to frame and hang on your walls and liftin the flaps for little surprises was so much fun. A must have for every holiday library!
Aw, what a sweet book and fun way of enjoying the run up to Christmas for children! This is about the Cat family and follows their preparations during the twelve days leading up to Christmas. The book is a lift-the-flaps book with lots of different flaps to lift on every page although due to the nature of this being a digital copy I am reviewing, I haven’t been able to see what the book feels like or the images behind the flaps, unfortunately.
Each double page follows one day before Christmas, counting down from twelve all the way until Christmas Eve. With every day, the Cat family are busy doing lots of things, preparing the house, writing their letters, helping the sing carols, meeting family at the train station, etc. Each double page shows a different scene and is accompanied with a paragraph explaining what it is the Cat family are doing on that day. I do have to say I absolutely adore the illustrations on each page. There is so much detail to look at even without seeing what’s under the flaps and I would love to spend more time with the Cat family in other books. It feels a little like Brambly Hedge with that slightly old fashioned feel to the illustrations and all of the cats in the family and other animals dressed up like humans, it just looks so adorable and lovely and you can really enjoy this book for the images alone!
On every double page there are lots of flaps to lift too, you can see where they are marked and there are lots to find hidden among windows, doors and other objects in the pictures. I wish I knew what is shown under the flaps but unfortunately I don’t, however this story continues to be a joy to read even without opening the flaps, as you see the Cat family making all their preparations before the big day!
As I said the illustrations are so details and lovely, and I love how so many things are happening on each page. Some of my favourite images are the Cat family singing carols, especially those words they sing: “We fish you a meowy Christmas and a tabby new year!” and the lovely images of them at the shops and the stables. Every double page is so special to look at and one of them even flips the book sideways to add even more magic when you see a certain image of a tree. I just adore this book so much and would love to own the physical copy if I could!
Overall this is such a lovely book and a great one to enjoy in the run up to Christmas. The images are beautiful, heart-warming and so engaging and the story of the Cat family preparing for Christmas is such a lovely one too! With so many flaps to lift on each page too I’m sure it’s a really lovely and fun book to look at again and again!
Who need advent calendar with this book? In this book, we see how this cat family prepares their spirit for Christmas day. During twelve days, we see them with their own activities to be ready for Christmas. It is beautiful and jolly. And congrats to Eunyoung Seo for the beautiful and delicated illustrations.
So much searching and fun, while letting the atmosphere of the approaching holidays beam from every page.
There's only a few days left until Christmas, which means there are more than a couple things to get done. Readers join the Cat family as they prepare presents, do chores, pack, and so much more during their preparation for the upcoming celebration.
This book has a lovely, traditional flair, making it perfect for a read aloud leading up to the holidays. The text flows smoothly, giving just enough description to ring in the season, while letting the lively illustrations take over the rest. Each scene holds many details and characters as they busy themselves with activities to make the coming days a joy. This gives plenty of places for the small flaps to hide. Listeners will have to search and find each door, and discover the fun surprises inside. These are hidden enough to make it fun for even slightly older listeners.
The text is age appropriate for listeners, and those, who are pretty sure of their words, can try it on their own. There's a slight bit of cat humor built in, which adds a nice flair. The scenes also vary quite a bit, including everything from a train station, a store, a farm, and more. So there's a nice dose of variety in the places and objects young listeners will see...and have to search through.
I do see this as being a favorite during the Advent season, which will be picked up again and again.
This is a sweet look at one family's Christmas traditions: decorating, making presents, entertaining visitors, and caroling; maybe your child will recognize some of these activities, OR discover a new tradition in the making.
The illustrations have a charming, old-fashioned feel, and the many flaps to open should keep the little ones busy during those antsy days leading to the big event.
Cat Family Christmas – Lift Flap Advent Book could be a new holiday reading tradition for YOU R family.
This super sweet children’s book featured a Cat Family and their family traditions. The illustrations were very creative and full of quaint details sure to keep readers of every age captivated. The flip up flaps added even more fun and surprise to this reading adventure.
We recommend buying at least two of this book- one for your family and one to gift to another family to enjoy this holiday season.

Adorable illustrations by Eunyoung Seo make this adorable cat family come to life! It’s equal parts cozy and charming. Young readers will have a fun time opening the flaps of this adorable Advent picture book!
Woweee, this is an amazing children's Christmas book, which has stunningly beautiful graphics, and a lot of delightful text that will keep your child happy for hours, as they explore 140 'lift the flap' doors to find lots of little surprises.
My daughter and I absolutely loved this book so much, and it was really fun. My daughter loves cats, so she was thrilled with this book, and she was amazed by it. There are 24 pages in the book, so you can use the book like an advent calendar. Each page shows how a cat family prepares for Christmas, such as how they clean the house, bake and cook the food, wrap the presents etc. It is so magical, and every child should read this book! It would make the perfect gift for Christmas time or at any time over the Winter season. It really is fantastic, and I recommend it highly!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
Thank you Netgalley, for allowing me to review this book. The opinions aare strictly my own.
I mushy say , I enjoyed reading the words and taking the time to take him each image. Even without the flaps this book was mesmerizing. I must say, I don't know why but the otters in clothes made me very happy. The other animals were cute, but those cuties made my heart smiles.
I also very much enjoyed the Daily count down. It would be nice to make an activity to go along with each day and read on pagebper day.
Get this one before the 12 days of Christmas start!
This lift-the-flap advent book features beautifully illustrated pages of a cat family during Christmas as they prepare and celebrate the holiday season. The placement of the various flaps was done cleverly and will be so much fun for readers to explore as they progress through the story.
Not only are the activities engaging, but the story itself is as well, as it counts down the 12 days of Christmas. As you flip through the book, note the different animal families, which include rabbits, badgers, and foxes (among others!). It is lovely to see the various families as they board the sleeper train! Even the houses display snowmen outside (e.g., snow-cats and snow-ducks!)
This book is so much fun to read with your little ones as you approach Christmas day. The last page ends on Christmas Eve.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for this advanced review copy. All opinions are my own.

Absolutely adorable Christmas life the flap book, this one will be a favourite year after year especially for cat lovers!! So cute.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book in exchange for my review.
Thank you to the publisher for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First of all I would like to say that, oh do I wish I had this copy physically because it was simply so precious!! I could see the flap outlines and I just wanted to open them and enjoy the little surprises behind each door.
This little book was so precious. It follows a little countdown to Christmas with Christmas eve being the last one. It had such beautiful illustrations in them while also having a small bit of text from time to time. I loves the use of colour and the whole art style in general I thought it was so cute and different from the usual style that the general kidbook people use so to say.
I am obsessed with the kitchen page when they are preparing the food so to say. It was so adorable and I just wanna climb inside the pages and be with them to join all the shananigans.
Loves this so much, on top of all the fun it was also a quick read which I needed to get out of my small reading slump. So it was literally perfect for me.
Thanks so much for this experience, can't wait for Christmas!
A really endearing advent book for younger children.
The flap sections encourage interaction and enjoyment. The illustrations are so very lovely and have a timeless style which creates a homely and warm feel to the book.
A lovely book to add to any child’s Chris collection.
