I recently moved to the UK. While I knew of Queen Elizabeth II, it wasn't much. But this little book goes a long way in introducing her to little minds across the world.
Like the other books in the series, this book too was on point on the writing and the beautiful illustrations. From the corgis to the palaces, the Queen in her wedding dress, the pictures were fantastic.
The book did a great job of summarising the life and work of a great Queen.
Informative and fun way for the younger generation to remember England's longest-reigning monarch who recently passed away. She had a long and interested life and will be studies by historians for centuries. I know it's an upbeat children's book, but I think you still have to be careful about being overly optimistic about what was colonization. Other than that, I adore this series!
Thank you to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!
A delightful book in series outlining the life and successes of the unsurpassed British Monarch Elizabeth II. Following the death of Her Majesty, this book is a wonderful keepsake and a superb read to help our children process the loss of our Queen, as well as , appreciate the wonderful years Elizabeth II reigned before her recent passing. As we have come to expect from this remarkable series, the information is kept simple and is accompanied by beautiful illustrations. A thoroughly enjoyable book that would make a wonderful gift to honour the remarkable reign of Elizabeth II. A lovely addition to this marvellous series. #queenelizabeth #mariaisabelsanchezvegara #netgalley
I was so happy to see this book especially due to the timing of her death. A great book for children to learn about Queen Elizabeth and the work she completed for her country.
Queen Elizabeth is a stunning and timely book by Little People, Big Dreams.
Another book you need to add to your collection.
The book offers children a glimpse into Queen Elizabeth's life and the many remarkable events she witnessed.
The story telling experience is enhanced with stunning illustrations and hidden details that my children adored finding.
My four year old daughter was particularly taken with the wedding scene and the corgis!
This is a wonderful homage to the Queen and another book to introduce your children to history.
I was gifted a digital copy of Queen Elizabeth by NetGalley in Exchange for a fair and honest review
This charming little book for young ones is a wonderful way to introduce them to the life of Queen Elizabeth II. They may have heard her name in the news but not know much about her or how she became Queen. It provides a glimpse of her reign, but not too overwhelming. I thought the mention of her love of animals was the perfect way to help her be more relatable to kids, as nearly all kids love animals as well. On a personal note, the end was a bit of a pull at the heartstrings as Her Majesty has now passed, her historic 70 year reign finished. I think any young child with an interest in Kings and Queens, or eager to learn some history, would love this book. I know I did!
Little People, Big Dreams does it again with this ROYAL edition!!
A charming addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series this edition features her royal highness, Queen Elizabeth II. With the recent passing of the Queen of England this book is a wonderful way to teach young readers about her reign and the sense of duty she held throughout her life. This is such an important lesson to convey to younger generations.
The illustrations are terrifically regal and the give the sense of the how the royal family lives. We simple adore this special tribute to Queen Elizabeth the II.
Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Frances Lincoln Children's Books.
A children's book about a real character should meet two criteria - be readable and without nonsense. This latest addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series fully fulfils it. Queen Elizabeth is written by the creator of this edition Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara and is accompanied by charming pictures by Melissa Lee Johnson.
We learn all the essential facts about the Queen - from whose daughter and granddaughter she was, to her famous speech to children during World War II, her wedding, coronation and royal duties. In the end, there is a 'longer' text with a brief biography of the Queen. The quality of this summary for children is perfect. In my opinion, it's supported by the fact that many newspaper articles about the royal family don't mention more details.
I think the main part's text captures the Queen's personality beautifully. No sentence could be interpreted any other way. Some sentences describe what the Queen represented. Example - her first lesson after moving to Buckingham Palace. “A good queen serves her people, not the other way around.”
The illustrations deserve separate praise. There are plenty of corgis on them. Some pictures show altered familiar photographs - the Queen surrounded by her grandchildren and Mia Tindall holding her handbag. I can look at them over and over again.
This book can provide the precious first nice-to-meet-you moment with the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for a free digital review copy. This is my honest review.
Absolutely thrilled to receive a copy of this book. It is one of a wonderful series about influential people and all the more special because this one details the fascinating life of the truly inspirational late queen. A must have for all book shelves.
What a brilliant book about our beloved late Queen.
This book shows young readers how she was such a strong leader, stuck by her people and did her duty.
She was so humble and didn’t take advantage of her status, she used ration coupons from the we to pay for her wedding dress material.
Elizabeth stepped into the role of Queen suddenly but with grace. She met people from all over the world who made the world a better place from Stephen Hawking to Nelson Mandela, from The Beatles to Elton John.
It wasn’t her childhood dream but after nearly 71 years she became the Queen the country wanted.
Such a lovely, accessible tribute to a remarkable woman and a great way to introduce her to young readers. A simple accounting of her life is told in clear, kid-friendly language, with an emphasis on her sense of duty and commitment to service. The illustrations are absolutely fantastic--they're lively and full of interesting details to enhance the story. Kids will especially love the recurring corgis and adults will like the recreations of real events/people/portraits.
FY--the book concludes after her platinum jubilee and does not mention her death. An adult reading partner can decide if/how to address this.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Another book from Little People Big Dreams!
As always, the style of language is in its simplest form which is easy for little readers to comprehend. This book gives a brief description of the longest reigned queen, Elizabeth II. A must-have book to add in the school library. Ideal to teach students about biography as a starter, and have insights about the life and duties of a queen in the royal palace.
I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
A timely release for the latest in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Young readers meet Queen Elizabeth before she took the throne. They see her as a child and then young adult serving her country. They then see her become Queen long before she expected to and see how committed she was to serving her people. The simple illustrations support the main idea of serving others no matter who you are. Though this does not include her death, it does bring readers through the seventy years of her reign. The timeline provides further information for those who want to learn more.
Sanchez Vegara brings this well known figure's life to a level young readers understand. They can see the person beyond all the news.
I loved this book and how it explains who Queen Elizabeth was and the things that she endured over her long reign. When she passed away, my son saw it on the news and asked about it. This was the perfect book for explaining who she was. I'm thankful that this was written.
I love this series for introducing young readers to people making a part of history.
We have read many books in this collection. This particular story seems more abridged than others. I find it odd that the book didn't include her death, even in the timeline at the end.
This biography, while aimed at the 4-7 age group, will be well loved for all ages, teaching about such an important figure that has graced our lives for 70 years. Queen Elizabeth would make a wonderful edition to anyone's collection big or small.. This is part of the beloved Little People, Big Dreams series, the story of our glorious Queen Elizabeth II is told through bright and colourful illustrations perfect for small children's minds and imaginations.
Another wonderful book in this series that I loved. As an adult, there was information in this book that I hadn't even known about the Queen. The illustrations are beautiful and heartwarming, and the facts are accessible and informative for children, too. I know for a fact that children reading this book will actually learn what it takes to be a Queen rather than being swept away with the usual life we see a Princess/Queen lead in the usual Fairytales! It's great to have a real life story that is inspiring and realistic for young children.
Learned a few new things I did not know about Queen Elizabeth. The books in this series are always a delight and this one was no exception. I loved the mention of her Corgis!
Beautiful illustrations of this royal story make it a worth read .Queen Elizabeth is probably the only person who is part of
childhood dreams of many generations.I mean who doesn't want to be a queen.Lovely reading about this historical figure.
Written before Queen Elizabeth II’s death, this latest book from the popular ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series is a lovely introduction for younger readers to the Queen and her incredible life. From how she came to throne to saving ration coupons to buy the fabric for her wedding dress, this book does a great job of taking us through Queen Elizabeth II’s life story. I particularly loved the page of Her Majesty looking on at Balmoral Castle with her pet corgi. Really enjoyed reading this book with my daughters. My only suggestion would have been to include Queen Elizabeth II in the title of the book to make clear which Queen Elizabeth the book is referring to.
