This was another enjoyable read by K L Slater. Her books all have unique storylines that keep you hooked from start to finish. There were some good twists and turns that kept my interest.

The Girlfriend | K.L. Slater
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(no spoilers)
📚 Synopsis:
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her buttery blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms.
As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts.
She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I know this will be hard to hear. But I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.’
My world implodes. And then she tells me that she owns our home – and that she’s not going anywhere…

This is the sort of book that will keep you up at night because you just have to keep reading. It is so fast paced and there are so many twists and turns! Just when you think you know what’s happening, you’re hit with another huge twist. The plot is so well thought out. I found myself thinking ‘How can this even happen?’ and yet it was entirely plausible at the same time.
This is the first book I’ve read by K.L. Slater but it certainly won’t be the last!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this eARC.

Well this book is full to the brim with twists and turns. KL Slater does it again. This book is gripping and I read it in a single sitting. Don't miss it.

The Girlfriend was a great read and I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Great story line and plot! It definitely had me excited and on my toes. Towards the end it really picks up, however it did feel slightly rushed and left me with some unanswered questions. The beginning was slower than I would’ve liked but it still kept me very entertained. Overall, I think the story is great and I highly would recommend! Thank you NetGalley & K.L Slater for allowing me to read this before it’s been published! I wish all the success!

You can always count on K.L. Slater to give you a jaw dropping read! After Jennifer receives the shocking news that her husband Cole is dead she is then blindsided by the news that not only did her husband have a girlfriend but they had a baby together and everything Jennifer thought was hers has actually been signed over to the girlfriend. And that’s no even the half of it! A must read!

Thank you NetGalley!
Book Review “The Girlfriend” by K.L. Slater
Synopsis: Jennifer and her families lives are upended when her recently deceased husband is found to have been having an affair with Sara. Things start to take a turn when babies, houses, and murder are involved.
Pros: This book left me feeling uncomfortable in the best possible way. Every time I think I had something figured out, another twist was changing my mind.
Cons: The middle of the book did seem a bit slow going. There was some character development that took some time to set in place.
Overall 3.5 stars. Definitely recommend for a quick, keep you guessing psychological thriller.

Sadly this one didn't wow me, the plot wasn't believable, I found the main characters frustrating and unlikeable. I ended up skim reading parts as I just wanted to find out what actually happened, else I may have struggled to finish it.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc ebook.

Thanks to NetGalley, K.L Slater and Bookouture for the ARC of The Girlfriend.
I am a big fan of K.L Slater's books - she always does thrillers really well and this one doesn't disappoint.
When Jennifer's husband Cole is killed in a car accident, she is absolutely devastated. But when a woman knocks on her door with a baby - her whole world is turned upside down.
Claiming that she's been having an affair with her husband and that baby Rory is his son, Sarah also has a watertight contract - Cole had money issues and the home Jennifer's family loves? It belongs to her.
Jennifer must decide., Either move her and her two kids out of their marital home or do as Sarah says - let her move in with the child and live together as a family.
With lots of twists and turns, this book really held my attention and kept me reading long into the night. Loved how it ended - whilst a little far fetched in parts, it concluded in a way that left me totally satisfied!

This book was so good! I sat down intending to read a few pages and could not stop! What a crazy premise and although a bit far fetched, I was shocked on how the story unfolded! Perfect reading for the upcoming winter days.

This book was another hit from the author. Packed with loads of mystery and intrigue. A few twists kept the reader turning pages. This is a book which I would recommend to all who enjoy a good mystery.

Thanks netgalley for giving me an early copy of this book.
Jennifer was at home when her doorbell rang and two policemen were at her door to tell her that her husband Cole was involved in a car accident and he was dead, there was no other car involved he ran off the motorway and was killed.
If that was not bad enough, within a couple of days a woman knocked at the door with a baby and said Cole was going to tell Jennifer that he was going to leave her and go and live with her and the baby was his.
Sarah also said that the house Jennifer lived in was hers as was the cars as she had given Cole everything to cover costs when his business went under.
Sarah was going to take everything unless Jennifer did what she was told.

A gripping story with a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! I really enjoyed this one, although I did find some of the events hard to believe, but this made more sense towards the end.

Thank you to NetGalley for this Arc ebook!! I think this is my first book by K.L. Slater and I was not one bit disappointed! This one had me hooked from the first couple pages which is always a win!! A woman’s worst nightmare is that their husband is having an affair but when it actually comes to light along with many other shocking surprises it’s a nightmare you just want to wake up from. Jennifer thought she had a great relationship with Cole until Sara shows up at her door with some horrible news about her deceased husband! From there, life goes downhill in more ways than one. You will have to read to find out all the juicy details.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest book by a favorite, KL Slater - 4.5 stars rounded up!
As she is preparing for a huge blowout of a Halloween/birthday party, Jennifer gets a knock on her door from two police officers telling her that her husband, Cole, has been in a car accident and is dead. Days later, while still reeling, Sara shows up on her doorstep with baby Rory in her arms. Sara says that she is the rightful owner to Jennifer's home and that Rory is Cole's son. How does Jennifer begin to tell her own children that Sara is moving in with them?
This is such a fast-paced thriller that will keep you guessing with all the twists. I really felt for so many of these characters and especially all the kids. Another fabulous read by this author - don't miss it!

Loved love loved this book flew through it and could not stop! Loved the plot and although I had an idea halfway through ish it wasn’t spoilt as there wells other twists and turns I didn’t see coming! Well thought out and executed. Look forward to more from this author

I thought The Girlfriend was fantastic. The description alone had me hooked and the story did not disappoint. It had plenty of twists and turns that I did not see coming and kept me gripped and I could not put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

What would you do if your husband suddenly left the house when you were in the middle of planning a huge party, only for hours later right before the party is to start two officers show up to your door and give you the worst news you could get. Well the worst news you thought you could get until the next day a random woman shows up to your with a baby in her arms claiming she was your husbands lover, that the baby is his and she technically owns everything you thought you did including your house, cars and even your bank accounts.
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC!

A truly great read. A awful situation for Jennifer to find herself in. Bereaved and betrayed. A dark and twisty read. An epic ending. I immediately bought another of KL Slater's book following this as I enjoyed the writing so much.

Let me start by saying I love a good psychological thriller, and this had so much promise, the plot had me hooked and I was looking forward to reading this book.
The premise is brilliant, I'd never read anything like it and that's saying something. This did have me sitting reading page after page to see what was going to happen next, who Jennifer could trust, who knew about the financial issues, who knew about the affairs, Sara and Rory, and just how much of a double life Cole was leading.
If you're looking for a psychological thriller that will competely engulf you in its complexity then this is a great book for you, it's a great story and I wanted to love it there were just a few things that didn't add up to me.
I understand that wives sign documents for their husband's businesses all the time without reading them, that part I believed, however the part I had the biggest problem with was Cole having no life insurance.
How does someone with multiple children with multiple women, a business, and assets not have life insurance, I realize that could have completely changed the plot of the book but for it to not be at least mentioned seemed like such a huge loophole to me and I couldn't stop thinking about it as the book went on.
In my opinion this is a 3.5 star book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing an advance copy of this ebook, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Girlfriend is a page turning mystery that follows Jennifer, whose husband, Cole, has been mysteriously killed and whose alleged girlfriend, Sara, has now turned up at her home, claiming that Cole signed over all rights to their home to her! Not only that, Sara has a baby with Cole named Rory, who is only 6 months old!
To try and appease Sara, Jennifer agrees to let her and baby Rory move into their house while they figure out exactly what’s going on. After lots of lies and secrets come to a head, Jennifer finds out exactly who was involved in her husbands untimely death, and who she can truly trust in her family!
This book was fun to read but I am giving it 3/5 stars as I felt like it was a bit repetitive and there was too much fluff in the beginning. I also feel like the ending was rushed and a lot of information that could have been explained in more detail throughout the novel was just shoved into the last few chapters. Overall, I think the story is great but it could have been delivered in a different way.
Thank you Bookouture, NetGalley and KL Slater for allowing me to read this book for my honest review!
