I thought this was the whole book not just a chapter, but I’ve enjoyed the escapism offered by A J Pearce’s previous two novels. From the first chapter it looks to set up well another enjoyable novel about the home front in World War Two and I’d be keen to read it.

To be fair I couldn't tell from this first chapter whether this is going to be as good as the first two or not but I'm looking forward to reading the whole thing.

This series has become one of my favourite comfort historicals, despite not shying away from the grimmer aspects of life in London during WWII. It was wonderful to be back with Emmy and Bunty again (and Guy, who is one of my favourite secondary characters).

While I prefer the audiobooks, as Anna Popplewell does a fantastic job with them, I can’t wait for this to be out next year!

A good first chapter I’ll look forward to reading the whole book. I had hoped we’d read more about being an agony aunt as that was what drew me to the book. I’ll just have to be patient!

Instantly interested in all of the characters. I haven't read any other books by this author so will look forward to reading the rest of this book

Just a first chapter which I didn't realise - should have checked.
Great though - didn't quite grab me quite as much as the first two books did but I'm sure it will once I read more than just a chapter.

I’m a massive fan of the first two books so I was very excited to be able to read this first chapter. It’s exquisite and definitely makes me less patient for the entire book to be released.

I love the language and old fashioned terms used, it’s very well written.

Having listened to the previous two books in audible, I can honestly say that AJ Pearce has become an ‘auto read’ for me and I will read whatever they write.
Excellent character arcs, relatable plot lines set in a deeply well researched and interesting era., the previous two whetted my appetite for this new book. Delighted to read this first chapter and can’t wait for the release of the book.
These books are a genuine delight. Emmy, Charles, Bunty, Guy and Anne have all returned to share their lives with us. What a joy.

Im a massive fan of the first two books and this looks just as good. I really can’t wait! I feel a bit odd giving a full review with only a chapter. One thing was Thelma, I don’t remember her particularly from the other books and could have used a “Thelma from x”

I was only provided with the first chapter of this book, which is really too little on which to make a judgment. It is set in WWII and the language and attitudes are about right but I am not sure it will be particularly noteworthy.

This was only the first chapter of the new book in the Emmy Lake Chronicles so hard to say too much! However, the preview gave me the sense of being reunited with an old friend and how lovely to be back with Emmy, Bunty and the rest of the gang! I get the feeling more adventures are in store and I look forward to reading the book as soon as possible...

Enjoyed the first chapter looking forward to reading the full book when it is published.. The era it is set in of rationing and war time is well described .Have enjoyed reading other books by the author and have met her at a book festival
