A short but wonderful reminder of how much I enjoy the Emmeline Lake series so despite being disappointed that it's only one chapter I'll still give it 5 stars. I've now got to possess my soul in patience whilst waiting for the full book to be published!

On the basis of the single first chapter I was teased with, this looks like a book worth reading. There are many characters, and it will take several chapters to get to know them all, and how they relate to each other, and the storyline.
Why has this recently become a ‘thing’, of only the first chapter being offered for review? Can’t we be trusted with the whole book, to be able to give a properly considered opinion?
I am not impressed with this approach by publishers, especially when it is not clear that it is only one chapter being offered. I would not have wasted my time on it, had I known.

I'm so excited that AJ Pearce is back with another installment of what is easily one of my favourite series. Dear Mrs Bird, and its sequel Yours Cheerfully, are truly heartwarming and beautiful novels, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third in the series.

This sample is glorious, and at the same time, such a tease... I need to rest of the novel now. I enjoyed this sample so much, and I already know I'm going to adore the rest once it is released.

Being back with our old friends fills me with such warmth. AJ you have done it again! Magnificent, as always.

Admittedly I was disappointed this was just a sample and often we need just that bit more to review.
But as it goes . It’s got me curious & I want more.

Dear Mrs. Bird, the first novel that I read by this author, was a true favorite of mine as was her second novel, Yours Cheerfully. How thrilling to know that there will be another book about Emmy published soon. Even without the the benefit of this enjoyable sample, I would want to read this novel.

A J Pearce tells her stories with a light touch but one that also encompasses the difficulties of her characters and the world that they live in. Readers will root for Emmy and her friends as potential changes come to Women’s Friend. I will be marking my calendar for this title’s May 2023 release.

I was disappointed when I realised this was only a sample. However, I loved it and it whetted my appetite for the full length novel, which I have no preordered. I can’t wait to read it! I love this series!!

Promising but only got one chapter so no idea if the slightly jolly hockey sticks style might grate.

Excuse me, where is the rest of the book?! I need to know immediately what's going to happen! I love the series and need it to be delivered ASAP, especially after reading this morsel of deliciousness. It's like coming back to see your friends bit not being able to hear the whole gossip!

So disappointed this was only a chapter but then again, it was so great that I can’t wait to read the rest of it, so job done! As a fan of the previous books this latest instalment looks to be equally as good. Thanks NetGalley!

Enjoyed the first chapter and shall look forward to the rest of the book. As it is only a taster, it’s difficult to judge how it will go, but a few ideas have been set up that have set the scene for what is to come.

This first chapter was a real tease! I’ve loved AJ Pearce’s previous two books, and was thrilled to see that a third is on it’s way. Mrs Porter calling has all our beloved characters, with a problem emerging in this first chapter. What will happen to the house that Emmy has been living in? I really cannot wait to see what happens!

Great taster chapter, can’t wait for the rest to be fully immersed into this well drawn and familiar setting!

A very entertaining and well written book, a good addition to an excellent series.
This teaser made me wish I could read the rest of the book soon.

A really lovely intro chapter - refamiliarized with the characters and made me excited for the rest of the book!!

I didn’t realise there was going to be a 3rd book in this wonderful series, but I’m so excited there is! A delicious taster of what’s to come - fingers crossed I get to read the arc very soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and it was tantalising to get even a small taste of what is in store in this new one. Such great historical fiction with wonderful, warm and fun characters.

This is a first class author, who keeps you totally amused

Always a delight going back to the world of Emmy and her friends. This was just the first chapter so there was not much set up for the story, but it's a comfort read and it felt like I was in a lovely bucolic BBC production despite the WW2 setting. Ready for the full book.

Well this little snippet was a treat. It was great to be back with Emmy and Bunty again. It has really got me excited to continue and get to know what happens next

I only just discovered Emmy and her gang of friends and already I’m counting down the days until the release of the third book in this series.

If you haven’t already read Dear Mrs Bird and Cheerfully Yours then I urge you to do so, you won’t be disappointed, they are a delight
