7 friends go on holiday to italy but only 6 of them will come home.
I wasn't sure on this when I first started it, I've read so many books with friends on a holiday where someone ends up dead so that it was going to be same old same old. However I was thoroughly surprised there's so many secrets between all the friends it made it so intruiging and hard to put down.
Overall another great book by Laura Marshall and with its fast pace and twists and turns you'll not be disappointed to read this.
Thanks to Netgalley for this Arc.

My Husband's Killer by Laura Marshall was an excellent book with three couples. One murder and a holiday to die for, what more could you ask for! This book was full of tension and secrets with great twists and turns throughout that will have you gripped from the very first chapter.

I highly recommend this book. I loved it

3.5

I love a who done it and whilst this isn’t the best one that I’ve read I still thoroughly enjoyed it. My only criticism would be that there was quite a big cast of characters and I did get a little bit confused in parts throughout the book. Still an enjoyable read though and worth picking up.

Reaching for my second Laura Marshall book I am an even bigger fan. When I saw this book on NetGalley I could not wait to be approved to read this one. The author left a huge impression on me after I read The Anniversary and this blurb was irresistible. You are in for a twisty tale when you reach for this one – everyone is lying to Liz and trying to put all the pieces together will keep you deeply engrossed in this book.
Laura Marshall weaves a web of lies in this book, all Liz’s friends lie to her and as you uncover all the lies along with Liz you are left realising that these are the friends you might not want in your life. While some betrayals are worse than others the author delivers one after the other keeping you glued to the pages as you try to figure out what actually happened to Andrew, Was it just an accident? Laura Marshall delivers a fabulously twisted tale with this book. You will find it very difficult to put this book down before you reached the last page.
A group of friends are staying in a stunning villa on the Amalfi Coast in Italy for a weekend. Saffie and Todd are hosting everyone to celebrate Todd’s birthday. While six of them have known each other for years, Todd is new to the group.
What was meant to be a relaxing weekend away ends with a tragedy that leaves Andrew dead. On the morning of his funeral, Liz discovers that Andrew was cheating on her with one of the women that were in Italy with them. But those women are her oldest and dearest friends. Could one of them have betrayed her? Who can Liz mourn her husband when she has so many questions? How can she lean on her friends in her time of need when she knows one of them has betrayed her? Does she want the answers to her questions?
Reading this book, I was relieved that these women were not my friends. With friends like these, who needs enemies? I was engrossed in the twists that this book revealed. Every time I was convinced that things could not possibly get any worse, the author reveals yet another surprise. I could not keep my nose out of this book.
The characters we brilliant. Liz is the only one who is not hiding something. She is a loyal friend who believes that the women in her life will always be there for her and that they value friendship as much as she does. When Liz forgives some of the behaviour, I was left admiring her. I am not sure I could forgive some of the things she did. She is a remarkable woman.
Poppy is the scatterbrain of the group and sometimes I was wondering how she managed to find a place in this mix. She did not seem to fit. Her betrayal was horrible – despite her motivation, I battled with her role in the story.
Trina was the weaker of these women. She did not feature as much and I could not see how she ended up with Julian. They did not seem to match at all. Her secret was without a doubt the biggest and added a lot of questions to the story.
Saffie is a piece of work. This woman is self-centred and I battled to like anything about her. From the way she spoke to the way she treated people – she was just horrible. I could not understand why everyone liked her. Nothing about Saffie was real. I understand why she ended up with an idiot like Todd – they are a perfect match.
This book had me captivated all the way. I found myself engrossed while my emotions were flaring as I flipped the pages. This is an easy selection for my loved list for 2022.
Fans of a twisty tale full of lies and deceit will find themselves loving this book. There is not a moment in this book where you know what’s coming next. I loved this book and cannot recommend this one highly enough.

This was such an awesome read!
From the beginning I found myself playing armchair detective trying to figure out what happened and who is hiding the biggest secret and no I did not see this 1 coming!
On the day of Liz's husband's funeral, she discovers something in a bag that Andrew had with him on the weekend away; something that shocks her to her core. Was he really the man she thought he was? How well do we really know our loved ones?
A weekend away celebrating the birthday of their friend's new boyfriend ends in disaster with Liz's husband's disappearance. After a few months, he is declared dead, presumed drowned, but what really happened on that weekend because everyone there had something to hide? Who's secret was the biggest and who would kill to keep that secret from everyone else?
With friends like these who need enemies??!!

Thank you to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book group for this delightful ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

I chose to read a free ARC of My Husband's Killer but that has in no way influenced my review.

Earlier this year I read The Anniversary by Laura Marshall and loved it! I went in blind, having not reminded myself of the blurb before starting, and was gripped from the very first page. As a result, I downloaded all of the author's earlier novels and have been looking forward to the newest book from Marshall with bated breath. And what a treat it was! My Husband's Killer is another cracking psychological suspense novel from a new favourite author of mine!

A dream holiday with close friends on the Amalfi Coast turns to a nightmare when Andrew, husband to Liz, and father to Ethan and Josh, goes missing. After an extensive search, no sign of Andrew is found. Local authorities presume he drowned after a drink-fuelled night in an unfamiliar location. So his friends and family return home without him. On the day of his funeral Liz makes a shocking discovery which turns her world upside down. She comes to realise one of her closest friends has a devastating secret they've been keeping from her. It's the ultimate betrayal. She can't help but question everything they've been through over the last 25 years and where their loyalties really lie. But in discovering who has deceived her, Liz may unwittingly find out exactly what happened to Andrew that night. And if it wasn't an accident it raises the biggest question of all. Which of her friends killed Andrew...?

My Husband's Killer is a suspenseful psychological thriller which I powered through keen to discover whodunit. Marshall's writing is once again excellent. The plot builds beautifully over the course of the book, with red herrings and well-placed touches of misdirection to keep the reader guessing. There are a lot of characters in this story and my poor addled brain did lose track of who was who and how they were all related at times. But as the story progresses and you get to know the characters in a little more depth, it all becomes clear. Particularly as many of the main characters get to tell some of the story themselves. The core group of characters have known each other for a long time and have been friends/lovers since university (most of them are in their 40s now). So there is a lot of history here which I thought the author conveyed incredibly well to the reader. You really get a feel of what's what in this friendship group before tragedy struck and I appreciated the clear and thorough backstory. The multiple timelines helped a lot in this respect. The reader gets to witness life at university for the group and the beginning of several long-term relationships, the tragic holiday to the Amalfi Coast which is the beginning of the end for Andrew, and how utterly devastating life for Liz and the boys is after Andrew's death. The way the author provides such a believable starting point for her characters and then builds upon it, giving the reader glimpses into their lives, made me feel as though I had been on the journey with them.

Would I recommend this book? I would, yes. I thoroughly enjoyed My Husband's Killer and flew through it keen to discover who was responsible for Andrew's demise. I did manage to guess the culprit but I think I got there only a minute or two before Liz did. The plot was intriguing and kept me turning the pages. There are a lot of characters which did feel a little confusing to start with, but I soon became used to the different names and relationships. To the point where the main characters, by the end of the book, felt familiar to me. The majority of them aren't particularly likeable but that makes them all the more interesting I feel! I enjoyed their stories. All in all, this is a suspense filled thriller which I devoured in a few short sittings. EVERYONE is a suspect, they ALL have something to hide and I was very much caught up in the mystery. A very readable, tense, compulsive novel which I recommend to fans of psychological suspense thrillers. Particularly those who like a domestic thriller.

I chose to read and review a free ARC of My Husband's Killer. The above review is my own unbiased opinion.

Loved friend request so was excited to read this one! This book has a palpable tension that keeps the pages turning…..simply brilliant… I had to finish this marvelous thriller in one sitting! Taut and incredibly suspenseful, every moment is perfectly crafted to keep me wanting more. An engrossing, spine-tingling read with lots of unlike able characters ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wanted to read this as soon as I saw it as I loved Friend Request and it did not disappoint. A book full of secrets, twists and intrigue that I finished in a day. Some of the characters are completely unlikeable but are tempered by some truly likeable characters.

The twists come quickly in the second half of the book and I couldn't put it down. Laura Marshall became an auto buy author for me with this one.

I would recommend this for anyone who loves domestic thrillers or secluded thrillers.

Another great read from Laura Marshall, an unlikeable cast of characters with lots of secrets and lies which keep you guessing along the way.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

I devoured Laura Marshall's latest novel in one sitting, desperate to find out what was going on, The plot starts with Andrew's funeral, where his devastated wife Liz discovers signs that he has been having an affair with someone in their friendship group.
The story moves between the present day - where Liz, her family and friends are processing Andrew's death and trying to uncover the mystery of what he was up to - to the recent holiday that the gang took together. The group is made up of longstanding friends and partners, most of whom have been friends since university days and who trust one another implicitly. As the story unfolds, we find out that they all have hidden secrets or indiscretions that they do not want to come to light.; if they do, friendships and marriages may well be ruined for ever.

I really like how Laura writes so I went into this book expecting to enjoy it - and I was very glad I did, it is very readable and I was totally engrossed by all of the secrets that the group were hiding. The characters were very believable and their actions and decisions were entirely understandable. The dynamics within the various friendships felt very true to life as well. There were some real gasp out loud moments in the story, as plot twists that I hadn't foreseen at all came to light - and they come thick and fast towards the end of the story; I was reeling from one revelation when bam, here comes another.

Thanks to Little Brown for the chance to read the ARC.

As always with a book by Laura Marshall the twists and turns come from beginning to end. This is a story of Liz whose husband, Andrew is missing presumed drowned on a luxury holiday with friends in Italy. Liz makes an unwelcome discovery on the morning of the funeral and from then begins to suspect her closest friends of betraying her and keeping secrets. I admired Liz's bravery and resilience in keeping going and keeping things normal for her two young sons while trying to get to the bottom of what happened. While some of the outcomes are predictable, I think this is what makes Laura's books so good. You are encouraged to guess what is going to happen and why, and you'll get so far. And then there will be a twist. And another very clever one right at the end. I really didn't see that one coming at that point. Another great read. #netgalley #myhusbandskiller

This is my first novel by Laura Marshall. Set on the Amalfi Coast, Italy seven friends are holidaying in a villa. Liz's husband Andrew vanishes and is later presumed dead, although his body isn't found. A great tale of twists and surprises, the ending is one I didn't foresee. Very highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel, at my request, from Little, Brown via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

4.5 stars rounded up cos I had a lot of fun with this one.
We start on holiday. Seven friends in a villa on the Amalfi Coast. And then, tragedy. Liz's husband Andrew is missing, presumed dead. Suspected drowning. But no body has washed up. Accident or otherwise? (see book title for clue - lol)
Fast forward back to the present and Andrew's body has still not turned up. Liz has had him declared dead and it's the day of the funeral. But this, the most saddest of days is probably the worst day to make a rather horrible discovery when she finds evidence that Andrew was having an affair! Dun Dun Daaa!
We then flit between present and past as more of the story comes out. The whys and wherefores of which I will not go into detail here as you are best off learning things at the right time! Suffice to say that the past complements the present very well indeed, with it progressing the present storyline well throughout, illustrating and providing more background as to what happened in the villa that night.
The characters are all very well described and all acted their parts very well. As with most books of this genre, I changed my mind about several of them a few times along the way as I tried to second guess things. I failed mostly. Often quite spectacularly! We also have the secrets and lies and dysfunctional behaviour you'd also expect and want. Some of it quite outstanding! All wrapped up in an ending that I didn't see coming but which made perfect sense in hindsight, and which left me wholly satisfied, and kicking myself.
All in all another winner from an author now firmly cemented on my watch list. Now it's just a waiting game for her next book. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Liz and husband Andrew have travelled to the Amalfi coast for a weekend with their oldest friends; Poppy, Trina and Julian, Saffie and her new partner Todd who is celebrating his fiftieth birthday and has hired a very extravagant villa for their stay. By the end of that weekend Andrew is missing, presumed drowned and Liz and their friends return to the UK without him. This story begins on the day of Andrew's funeral, since the accident a couple of months earlier Liz and her two sons have struggled to come to terms with Andrew's death and she is relying heavily on her friends for support, friends that she's known since university, so when she finds something in the pocket of a pair of shorts that Andrew was wearing during that weekend away, every bit of trust that she had for her husband and those friends is taken from her in an instant. Following the funeral she uncovers secrets that threaten to blow her world apart and she begins to question what really happened in the lead up to Andrew going missing...

My Husbands Killer is the latest thriller by this author and, having read and loved all her other books, I was excited to get my hands on this one. It's a fast paced read which I was invested in from the beginning, told from multiple perspectives and alternating between present day and that tragic weekend, with flashbacks to their uni days thrown in. The plot was well crafted and the characters were believable but, I have to say, if I were Liz I'd be choosing my friends a lot more carefully in future, I didn't know who could be trusted from one chapter to the next. In true Marshall style, as in her other books, there were plenty of twists throughout, but the perpetrator was a surprise and that final twist was most unexpected. If you like a thriller that has you second guessing throughout then this is definitely one for you.

I'd like to thank Little Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

As Liz prepares for her husband Andrew's funeral, she discovers evidence leading her to believe he had been having an affair. Liz and Andrew had been on holiday with a group of old friends in Italy when Andrew went missing and was presumed to be drowned, so Liz is convinced that the affair must have been with one of her friends.
The story goes back and forth between the aftermath of her discovery and the holiday in Italy, as she, and the readers, try to find out the truth of what really happened.
It is a gripping read and I was certainly drawn into the mystery of what happened. However, I found the characters very unlikeable - a lot of selfishness and secrets. I was drawn into the story but I didn't really feel that I was rooting for the rest of the characters..
(Review will be posted on Amazon shortly after the book's release.)
