Liz and her husband Andrew go on holiday for a weekend break with a bunch of friends that they have known since university. They stay in a beautiful villa in Italy off the Amalfi coast. When Andrew goes missing one evening and ends up dead.
On the day of the funeral, Liz finds a condom in her husband things and the shock leaves her flabbergasted. She can only think that is from someone from the close-knit friends group. But which one is it?
Do you really know someone? That is the question of this book from Laura Marshall. This is a book of discovery, friendships, and do you really know the friends that you have confided with your deepest thoughts and secrets and lies that they hold.
This is the first book from the author that I have read, and I thank Little Brown for a copy of this book. I found this book to have an intriguing story line and there was lots of twists and turns, and I did enjoy it, but for me it didn’t wow me. 4 stars from me.

A fast-paced psychological thriller that I really enjoyed. The writing was superb and I loved the cast of characters within. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A fast paced addictive psychological thriller that you won’t want to put down. I read this in almost one sitting. Word of warning don’t pick this up if you have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do as you won’t be able to tear yourself away.
This was an intriguing and compelling read with a lot of twists and turns and secrets and lies and how things are not always as they seem on the outside and do we really know our friends as well as we think we do.
This would make a good tv dramatisation.

Completely addictive, fast paced thriller. I challenge you not to want to read it in one sitting. Great characters, twist and turns at every moment. A brilliant read. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

Liz, her husband Andrew, and their friends spend the weekend at the Amalfi Coast. By the end of the weekend Andrew is dead.
On the day of the funeral Liz discovers Andrew was having an affair, but the only suspects are the women they went on holiday with, Liz’s closest friends.
As more and more secrets begin to unravel, the question begs, was Andrew’s death really an accident?
My Husband’s Killer is fast-paced psychological thriller which is full of twists and turns. The plot is gripping and the author has a way of writing which keeps you hooked right through to the end. As soon as I saw that this book was written by Laura Marshall, I had no doubt that I would love it and I can confirm that theory was tested and proven once again.
In terms of characters, what I particularly loved about them was the fact that they had known each other a long time (since university). I felt that this added so much depth to each of them. Despite them not all being likeable it was interesting to uncover so many layers which had built up over the years and made them appear very credible.
Themes in the book included but were not limited to, friendship, love, power, class, widowhood, and grief. Some of the grief related quotes in the book really touched me and felt very authentic. It was only at the end of the book that I realised Laura Marshall herself was widowed young and she admitted to reflecting on some of her own experiences in the book. This came through sincerely.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. When I thought I had uncovered all the secrets there was more to uncover, when I thought I understood the twist it twisted again. My Husband’s Killer is a truly compelling read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Book UK for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. My Husband’s Killer is out on the 29th November 2022

Laura Marshall's books have always gripped me and this was no different, this was an excellent thriller and I was hooked from the get go. I won't post any spoilers but highly recommend you read this ASAP!

This book had me gripped all the way through- navigating my way through the friendships from university days and working out who, if anybody, was trustworthy. Liz was a likeable if fairly bland main character, but the experiences of young widowhood and helping her children were emotionally sensitive and well written. Lots of twists and surprises in the plot, especially the ending! ( although not sure that's believeable)!

Liz's husband, Andrew, disappeared, presumed drowned, on a holiday with a group of friends to the Amalfi coast. The story opens in the aftermath of this event and moves back to follow events of the holiday, in which simmering tensions come to the surface. Seems everybody has a secret...
The group - Liz and Andrew, Liz's friends Poppy, Saffie and Trina, the partners of two of them, and the adult daughter of Saffie's new partner Todd - took a while for the distinct personalities to emerge for me, but the story then grabbed me and didn't let go.
It's well written and well plotted and I certainly didn't see the ending coming - although the very end might have been a twist too far for me.
The Landell Trust, a charity which supports Liz through the whole missing-husband trauma, sounded like a real thing and I was a bit surprised that - at least according to Google - it doesn't actually exist.
Liz herself was a likeable enough character, which certainly can't be said for all the rest of the group - one is particularly loathsome. I did feel for her, not only navigating the aftermath of her husband's presumed death but also dealing with revelations which call into question whether he really was the man she always thought him to be.
A great read from Laura Marshall.

This book was so addictive, I felt pushed from pillar to post not knowing which way to turn. I felt dizzy from the amount of twists and like Liz unable to know which of her university friends she can trust.
This was a great read, a real page turner. I could easily envisage this as a TV series

A group of forty-something long-time friends go away on a weekend getaway to the Amalfi Coast. Liz's husband disappears and is presumed dead. Back in the UK on the day of his funeral Liz discovers something that leads her to believe he was having an affair with someone on that trip. The novel then jumps back in time and we learn more about the various characters and their secrets, and perhaps Liz's husband's death was not accidental after all..... A vacation-gone-wrong thriller is not the most original concept, but this was en enjoyable, suspenseful read.

A fast paced and gripping read that just kept drawing me in more and more as I read further. Unpredictable and twisty, it kept me guessing all the way through. I loved it.

Do we ever really know anyone as well as we think we do?
A tight knit group of couples, all best friends from university on an extravagant getaway in Italy, which quickly goes from idyllic to nightmare in the space of an evening.
An evening that will not just effect the whole group, it will implode it!
This is another great read from Laura Marshall, fast paced and addictive with a completely unexpected twist!

I've always enjoyed Laura Marshall's books so was keen to read this one.
Liz is the grieving widow. A group of forty-something old friends went to a luxury villa in Italy for a weekend, Andrew, Liz's husband went missing, presumed drowned. Liz longs to discover what happened to Andrew that night, while facing up to family life without him.
There's plenty of grief, uncertainty and a depth of friendship between the characters built up over the years since meeting at university.
It moves at a steady pace and kept me entertained, if not wowed. It builds up towards the end and there are some twists and secrets to be exposed.
A good steady read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK

What an addictive read that was. I started it late on Saturday night and binged the rest the next day. These so called friends were so unlikeable and out for themselves. Wow, how anybody could be friends with these people is beyond me.
You might think that you have read this storyline before, but believe me when I say that you haven’t read it like this. A group of friends since uni days spend a weekend away at a luxury home on the Italian coast. One doesn’t come back. Liz is grieving her husband’s death when she find something in his belongings that makes her rethink everything and everyone. What really happened that weekend in Italy? It seems that they were all hiding something and would do anything to keep their secrets.
A fast paced, twisty page turner. This will suck you in and before you know it the day has gone. Highly recommend.
Thanks to Little Brown Book Group and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. Publishes November 29th.

A group of friends go on holiday and one ends up killed but who did it and how?
This book is full of twists and turns, when I thought I knew who did it it took another turn! I enjoyed the timelines of different characters and having their backstories made a lot of sense.
How the main character, Liz, was friends with those people is a mystery to me, so unlikeable the lot of them!
This is the type of thriller I enjoy, it was hard to put down.

If you enjoy intrigues, secrets, and tangled friendships, My Husband's Killer is the book for you.
After a weekend in Italy, the group of friends comes home without Andrew, who was presumed drowned in the sea. His wife, Liz, finds herself not only grieving but also burning with rage because she senses that one of her friends is lying. Saffie, Todd, Trina, Julian, Poppy, and Kitty; they’ve all lied to her about something. And all she can think about is Andrew and what he's been keeping from her.
Who knows what is going on beneath the surface? Nobody ever knows every single thing about another person, even those closest to them. Everything is not as good as it seems.
A compelling and intriguing read, full of tension and emotional twists between friends. The novel is original; the characters are well-developed, and the themes are always relevant: love, fear, grief, greed, power, control, and obsession.
An enjoyable read that I would recommend.

This is my type of book - plenty of dodgy narcissistic characters all with secrets going on. A group of friends go on holiday but it soon turns into the holiday from hell. I like the different timelines when we find out about the characters when they were younger. Each character has their own secret to hide and it is great when we find out what these secrets are and how they affect the group.
Some pretty big twists and surprises and this one definitely didn't turn out the way I expected!

I really enjoyed the author's previous novel so was looking forward to reading My Husband's Killer.
At the end of a weekend in Italy with their closest friends Liz's husband Andrew disappears, presumed drowned. Back in the UK, on the day of his funeral Liz discovers something that leads her to question how far she can trust her friends.
There is a recent trend for setting psychological thrillers on islands or at holiday destinations and this did make me wonder if the novel would be lacking in originality. However, I found this to be a compelling and intriguing read, the tension builds up well and I began to suspect all the members of the group of Andrew's murder. I loved the multiple timelines, and this definitely stood out amongst other thrillers I've read in this genre. The author is skilled at characterisation and dissecting the relationships between the members of the group. Although I did wonder at times why Liz was still friends with a pretty unlikeable group of women.
An enjoyable read that I'd recommend.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

📚BOOK REVIEW📚
My Husband's Killer @lauramarshallauthor
Publication date 29th November 2022
Oh I loved this book. It has everything that I enjoy in a thriller, secrets, lies, twists and mystery. I couldn't put it down and feel very lucky to have gotten to read this before publication date thanks to @netgalley @littlebrownbookgroup_uk @spherepublishers I can't quite believe that this is the only book I've read by this author and that is going to have to change because this is such a great read.
The books starts with the funeral of Liz's Husband, Andrew who is presumed dead after drowning in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Although the body hasn't actually been found. Whilst Liz is trying to grieve she makes a shocking discovery that makes her question everything she thought she knew. Are her friends really her friends or did one of them kill her husband? Grieving turns into suspicions and then we get flashbacks between the present day and a their recent holiday 3 months ago in Italy. We are treated to several different perspectives throughout the book which really adds to the novel.
The dynamics of the friendships are really interesting and keeps you guessing throughout. There's a bit of everything with jealousy, anger and there are secrets galore but nothing is as it seems.
