This is such a great read. Perfect for all those who love thrillers. Completely engaging and utterly gripping. Also the setting is absolutely stunning.

Wow what a fantastic read .When a husband goes missing on holiday in italy it sets off friction between several friends .one to keep reader engrossed until the very last page .

It’s the day of Andrew’s funeral as he’s presumed drowned in the Tyrrhenian Sea though his body has not yet been found. Instead of being able to grieve his loss on this difficult day his wife Liz is steaming angry after making a discovery which shocks her. Which one of her oldest friends has betrayed her on their holiday in Amalfi? Does she really want to know? In the light of her find is his death accidental or intentional? The novel is told in the present day and from three months ago in Italy with several perspectives which works very well.
The dynamics between the holidaying friends are fascinating, often being alcohol fuelled exchanges but always sparking intrigue. It transpires nothing is what it seems, on the surface all looks fine and dandy but they all have issues or problems of one description or another. There’s everything from envy and jealousy to anger and barely bubbling under resentment with a measure of anxiety and desperation. Some of them have got secrets which turn out to be pretty huge when the revelations begin to roll in. There’s tension aplenty, you can often cut the atmosphere with a knife and often bears are deliberately poked for reactions which sends ripples like shockwaves through the group. It’s becomes very intense and claustrophobic especially in Amalfi and these are the sections I enjoy the most as you’re full of questions concerning what lies at the heart of all the angst and drama. When it begins to emerge piecemeal it’s pretty twisted with shocks and surprises that keep on coming and gluing you to the pages.
There are a lot of novels of this type at the moment but I think Laura Marshall really pulls it off in this entertaining psychological thriller.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Little Brown Book Group for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

I loved this latest from Laura Marshall! The gorgeous Amalfi setting, a group of old friends, none of whom are who they seem... it also had a emotional pull that I don't normally expect from domestic thrillers, but which I highly enjoyed as an added layer to Laura's brilliant storytelling.

Secrets Will Out…
As Liz struggles through a service for her presumed dead husband, few people know her real thoughts and the conflicting emotions she is desperately trying to hide. Convinced that her husband was having an affair before he disappeared, Liz determines to find out which of her friends is the guilty co-adulterer. Seamlessly, the reader is taken back to several months prior, to a stunning villa on the Amalfi coast and to Liz, her husband and the group of close friends under suspicion. One thing is for certain - secrets will out and so they come, in droves. The author has a talent for creating credible, realistic characters, and she has excelled here, and in doing so the reader is caught up in the emotional turmoil and conflicts each step of the way as the narrative swiftly switches. A pacy, well drawn, one sit suspense with more than a few surprises and ultimately a very neat twist indeed.

I devoured this book in one sitting because I could not put it down. A perfect holiday read; gripping and tense with effective use of storytelling from multiple perspectives. Keeps you guessing until the very end. Loved it!

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I love Laura's book. A group of friends takes a trip to the Amalfi Coast and one does not come back alive. Relationships, affairs come to light. People are connected in ways no one ever knew. What happened to Andrew? Did he really drown? Did someone from his past show up? Did a friend kill him to keep their secrets? Liz has to figure out what happened to her husband, and what exactly he was hiding from her. Good suspense. Good thriller, however I wouldn't say it was overly unique. This seems to be a common theme these days.
