A very clever plot with nothing given away about who or what was involved in the Accident. Character development was also excellent and consistent with no changes of behaviour to fit with the story. There’s a heartbreaking thread to the tale but my sympathy didn't always ally with the most deserving person if I am honest. The ending was most satisfactory as in fact was my whole reading experience.

Well written and clever how the lives intertwine. A good book for a weekend away or rainy afternoon.

Lots of suspense and intrigue in this one and some fascinating characters. I wouldn't class it as a thriller as such - more of a domestic type albeit centred around multiple women's lives. Some tough issues handled incredibly well within the plot.

Outstanding! I was hooked from the first chapter. So well written and fast paced which keeps you guessing. So many interesting characters involved apart from the three main characters. A great storyline from a skilful author. I will certainly be looking for more titles from her

Wow loved it, brilliant story with a unputdownable narrative of intrigue and suspense, this thriller casts a spell that holds you captive, anxious to uncover its hidden truths. Fantastic read

Great story, would say more of a general adult fiction than a thriller based around the lives of 3 women. The story works up to the accident which makes you continue to want to read to find out what has happened. Great story and characters

A good physiological thriller. It focuses on the relationships and curumstances and history leading up to an accident. The details of the accident are effectively drip fedin between chapters told from mainly 3 strong women. The characters were well written and the tension was easily felt. I was compelled to read on to discover more about the accident through very clever writing. Tough issuses such as anorexia and infertility were dealt with in a productive caring way. The emphasis on the female characters took a bit away from the story for me as i would like to have learnt more about the male characters other than via dialogues.
This is a throughly enjoyable 4 star read. Thank you netgallery and publisher fir my arc

What a good read - All the way through I just wanted to know what the accident was which kept me turning the pages. Very interesting characters that come alive through the chapters. I dont think there was anyway of guessing what actually happend in the accident until the author disclosed it and even then there is more that comes out at the end of the book. Certaininly one to read and highly recommend.

Firstly I would like to praise the author for stepping out of the ordinary locations for a book and setting it in Tasmania.

I also liked the way that the book started off with the court report. I really like a book that has a different narrative at the beginning as I think it helps to grip the reader better. I also liked the fact that we had the court reports throughout the book.

The story itself is about 3 women. Imogen who is a doctor who is rethinking her life choices. Grace who is a vet and a single mum whose daughter is going through some things. Lastly Zoe who is a teacher who loves her life, her job and her boyfriend.

There were bits in the book that I felt didn't really need to be there. As it felt like it waffles on a bit at times. But overall not bad.

The Accident has an interesting format. Set in Tasmania, a court report of a road accident starts the narrative. This reoccurs throughout the book so we know there was a accident & a fatality but we don't know who or how. The story revolves around three women; Imogen is a doctor. It is what she has always wanted but now the pressure is getting to her. She constantly thinks back to an ex she has never got over. Grace is a vet & a single mother. Her daughter is anorexic & has been bullied at school. When she decides to send Emma to a different school she is concerned as her lover's children also go there. Zoe is a teacher, she loves her job, especially counselling those who find it difficult to fit in. She also loves her new boyfriend & thinks this could be 'it'.

These were all very different characters & I'm sure I wasn't alone in wanting to yell at them at times! It kept me guessing & hoping that the victim going to be one I'd bonded with! At times it was a bit confusing & a bit long winded, but overall it was a good read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

Katie McMahon does it again with her newest book, The Accident. This is my favorite type of thriller, where seemingly regular women get involved in a very risky situation close to home.

The Accident is an absolutely fantastic read. It is well written, with interesting, well formed characters and had enough twists to keep me reading. I loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my ARC.

What really stood out in this book was the way the 3 characters were written, it was so skilfully done that even the characters families etc, were worth reading about. It can be a slog at times to have so many but this book managed it.

When I requested this it was labelled as a thriller but is now women’s fiction, so not the thriller I expected but good all the same.

Awesome.
Imogen has always wanted to be a doctor, but the pressure of her job is slowly cracking her fragile mental state, and her infatuation with an old flame is twisting into something darker.
Zoe's job is going well and she is blissfully in love with her new boyfriend - but his old friend, Imogen, still seems to be obsessed with him .Grace has her hands full as a vet and a harried mother to a recovering anorexic teenager. And when circumstances force her daughter to change school, Grace's long-hidden secrets are threatened with exposure. All it takes is one fateful accident to change all their lives forever..
It seemed like Robin Morgan Bentley's The Wreckage. Loved it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK Zaffre for giving me an advance copy.

Loved, loved, loved! It's definitely co.plex and there's a lot going on but I liked that about it. These were real people woth real, full, busy lives, experiences and personalities. I was completely invested in the plot and barely put the book down til I was finished. I adored it

Thank you netgalley for this advanced copy. I did not care for Katie’s previous book but was pleasantly surprised by how good this one was. It was confusing at times keeping everything straight but it had the right amount of suspense and secrets. The ending was a very pleasant shock!

I really enjoyed this kept me hooked from start to finish.

The story felt realistic and I couldn’t stop reading wondering who it was that died.
It tells the story of Grace, Zoe and Imogen who are all living in the town of Hobart unknowingly they’re all linked together by their connections to friends, lovers and family. A tragic event outside a school will change their lives forever!

Great read which I highly recommend.

I didnt really enjoy this book but thats more me as i can get confused sometimes when following different characters so find myself hagping backwards and forwards alot but i got through it i think it was interesting having snippets of the incident in between chapters and knowing something was coming it made me want too continue reading too find out what happened and the characters were interesting and complex

I really enjoyed Katie McMahon's debut, The Mistake, I don't think it got the wider attention it deserves. I was looking forwards to reading this.

Three main characters, Imogen, Zoe and Grace, their lives, loves and losses. We know there's going to be a serious accident, there are tantalising snippets of reports between the chapters.

I like the style, sharp, often funny, Katie McMahon has a way with ways.

There's a lot growing on with each of the characters, I was wishing I had made a character map. Fair to say I liked the character writing more than the plotting. The plot felt a little indirect getting for A-B, there's a lot of detail, and I found my interest drifting towards the end.

Not bad at all, but sorry to say I didn't love it as much as The Mistake.
