TIGGY THISTLE AND THE LOST GUARDIANS BY CHRIS RIDDELL

Zam, Phoebe and Bathsheba, the three guardians of magic, disappeared with no warning nearly ten years ago, leaving the kingdom of Thrynne in the icy grip of a powerful sorceress. Most people have fled in desperate search of warmer lands, escaping the snow monsters that roam the streets.

Meanwhile, nine-year-old Tiggy Thistle lives hidden and safe with a kindly badger - until the day she meets the elf Crumple Stiltskin brothers, she suddenly has to run from her happy home.

So begins Tiggy's quest to find Zam, Phoebe and Bathsheba - the lost guardians and their beautiful cloud horses - the only people, she believes, who can save Thrynne from the curse of endless winter.

Firstly, I would like to thank #Macmillanpublishers for accepting me to read this book via @netgalley, in exchange for an honest and unbiased view.

Secondly, I want to state that this is a sequel. (The first one is called Guardians of Magic). You don't need to read book one before book two 😊

I love Chris Riddell, so for me this was a no brainer. It was a quick and fun read, with AMAZING illustrations (no surprise there 🤣).

One of my favourite parts of the book are all of the characters names. Crumple, Rumple and Trumple Stiltskin had to be the best 🤣.

This was a very entertaining fantasy/adventure story and there was even a twist at the end that I didn't see coming!

So if talking badgers, rats and scarves as well as giants, elves, magical rucksacks and boots sound like your type of thing, then I would definitely recommend you give it a go!

Chris Riddell is an expert at both storytelling and illustration. This is true if you sit in the audience during his performances or presentations. People who are listening intently hold these stories tightly as he draws magic into the form of stories.

The Cloud Pony Narratives was a profoundly expected book and one I cherished, for the drawings as well as for the approaching together of wizardry, youngsters and an excursion, the most splendid threesome of elements for a story.

The duology's second and final story is Tiggy Thistle. Phoebe, Bethesheba, and Zam have all vanished for ten years now, ever since winter set in and never left. They are world legends, and everyone is aware that they would have fought valiantly against whatever caused the winter. People have fled to warmer climates, emptying homes, towns, and cities. The remaining individuals are prepared and waiting for the opportunity to rise against the evil forces and the winter.

The time is now, and it is up to our young heroine to lead the way! The ultimate characteristics of a heroine are Tiggy's bravery, kindness, and curiosity. On her journey to end winter, she meets wonderful characters who assist her. This story's mix of legend, myth, and magical adventures was wonderful to me. As a duology, this makes for a brilliant storytelling session because Tiggy meets a formidable cast of characters and hears their perspectives on the past ten years.
