A brilliant Christmas listen, following the story of Sky Terran and her journey back to Midhop, after leaving her job and following her heart.

I really hope we are able to revisit and find out more about sky and her relationship.

An easy listening, enjoyable Christmas read. I liked the development of the relationship between the foster siblings and I enjoyed the concept of the story. The narrator also had a peasant and easy to listen to voice.

This is a lovely festive read (or in my case, listen, as I have just finished the audiobook!)

The story is that of Skye, a woman who has had a tough childhood. She work for her foster brother, Freddie, a property mogul, but following a dispute with his vile fiancé, Skye finds herself out of work and ready for a change of scene. At a property auction she snaps up a property in a village where she recalls having has a wonderful foster placement. She quickly gets into the spirit of the village by sprucing up her house for the annual Christmas decoration completion. She takes a struggling young boy under her wing, and of course enjoys a romantic tryst. As tend to be the way if these things, the path to true love is far from linear - cue the arrival of a jealous ex-girlfriend....

This is such an easy listen, it was a welcome accompaniment to all my festive chores! The narrator was excellent - I really cant find anything to criticise!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for opportunity to review this audiobook ion exchange for an advance copy.

I loved this audiobook, it was so heart-warming and an all-round lovely read. The setting was so beautifully described and the characters all felt very real. I adored seeing all the relationships between the neighbours and how it all helped Sky begin to heal and find happiness again. The audiobook narrator was great, the perfect voice for this book. I'm definitely going to buy a copy of this book so that I can listen or read it again in the future. I recommend this one, it's so festive and gorgeous!

An absolute joy from start to finish. An array of characters both young and old, a sense of community and friendship, all wrapped up in a delightful Christmas story.
I loved Sky's story of rebuilding her life after a traumatic childhood, helped by the villagers and her delightful Corner House.
I had to keep listening, it had me hooked from the beginning to the the end

This is a heart-warming read, but it’s not just about the romance. The protagonist, Sky Terran, has an unusual background that provides depth. This raises the bar in terms of backstory and makes the narrative more believable. There are deep friendships between the generations, neighbourhood kids and elderly residents of the village are included, and Moorcroft provides a cast of interesting characters. I loved the sense of community, the festive spirit and the 'will they? won't they?' romantic storyline. It isn’t Christmas until you’ve read a Sue Moorcroft book!

Warm, loving, and cozy are the words I pick to describe this Christmassy novel by Sue Moorcroft! Seen through two pair of eyes, the novel presents a common point in the life of Sky and Daz who get to experience the magic of Christmas in the village of Middledip, on the corner house of Winter Street. Although their relationship has a rocky start, both them and the supporting characters go through experiences which turn them in a group of lovable December characters. I liked a lot the way in which the audiobook was narrated by Hannah Brown, who does a great work of switching between the voices of the main characters.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy read, this is the book for you this December. Happy reading!

Special thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK Audio, Avon, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

My first cosy Christmas listen of the season and it didn't disappoint. Sky finds herself in a bit of a bind - work, family and friendship have let her down and she spontaneously purchases a home that was once to be a business purchase. This move brings new people, new drama and a sizzling handsome man into her life. Things are turbulent for Skye, but fairytale surroundings soon work their magic and bring new beginnings for Sky. An enjoyable winter audiobook that will immerse you fully. #awhitechristmasonwinterstreet #suemoorcroft #netgalley

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for approving me for an ARC of this book. This was a first for me, having never read anything by Sue Moorcroft, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I had heard great things.

The story starts with Sky Terrain leaving her successful job behind and purchasing a property on the street, where she lived with a foster family. Sky comes from a very dark background and it was clear to me that she struggles to let people in. Her foster brother Freddie is the only exception but now that he has a new fiancée, Sky is starting to feel pushed out.

It’s not long before the locals are making themselves known and either enticing Sky to the local pub, or dictating what she should do to prepare for the annual street decorating competition. Whilst Sky may seem quite closed off she’s not shy about expressing herself and the way she handled the decoration committee had me grinning from ear to ear. She was firm without being rude and made it clear that she would do it her way and in her own time. The nature touches that were introduced in the story were lovely and once again showed how the simplest of activities can be the most enjoyable.

This book was filled with community spirit and I loved how Christmas Day turned out for them all. Wilf and Sky’s friendship was endearing; once again, she had that connection and ability to help, without taking control. I knew that Abby was up to no good as soon as she appeared on the scene but it was fun seeing her story play out and watching Daz kindly put her in her place.

Sky and Daz were destined to be together and (as is the case with most of these stories) you know where they will end up. They certainly kept us on our toes throughout which made for a more entertaining read. This book was about more than their romance though, it was about a community coming together, families reuniting and accepting their new relationships. I found that lump in my throat forming on quite a few occasions but I also laughed and smiled too.

This will not be my last Sue Moorcroft, I’ve actually downloaded a lot more of her audiobooks to make a start on in the new year!

As usual I will not be rewriting the precis of this novel as I believe the professionals do a better job without giving anything away.
This is an extremely Christmassy story with wonderful likeable characters. If you want a lovely seasonal romance to lift your spirits then this is it. But I must admit that, although I enjoy a romance, this was a bit too sugar sweet and predictable for my liking. One can guess almost all the events before they occur and everything works out just right all along.

I do love this author’s books, they are always written so well and you just can’t help but love the characters she creates.
The setting sounded so festive and I could almost feel the chill.
I lived locally to the setting and I remember having an incredibly cold spell a few years ago and it just was so cold.

Yes it’s a romance story but I always love how this author’s stories never quite go in the direction you think they would go in.
Loved the highlights of some social issues too that are often swept under the rug.

Highly recommended.

It is perfect for the upcoming festive season.

I read the book and enjoyed it so much that I leapt at the chance to listen to the audio book. I was not disappointed. Hearing the story added another dimension. It was both well written and well narrated.

You will never guess this book is about Christmas! But it so much more. A good feel story, all about relationships, both good and dysfunctional. Sky, a bright warm and energetic person, has come to a crossroad in her life. She finds her way back to Middledip, where many years ago she had spent a year in care as an orphan placement. Buying a huge house to renovate, she slowly finds herself becoming part of the community. Here she will find out more about herself as she appraises her life and is pulled into the lives of some of the locals. Maybe, she will find exactly what she needs. Thank you to Harper Collins UK Audio and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

A WHITE CHRISTMAS ON WINTER ST
BY
SUE MOORCROFT.

Christmas is fast approaching, so what could be better than a festive trip to delightful Middledip for another seasonal tale.

Sky Terran has found herself at a crossroads in her life. Then an opportunity presents itself for Sky to purchase Corner House in the village of Middledip.

Sky has fond memories of Middledip having lived there for a brief time while she was being fostered by Nan Heather, who is now an elderly lady, but she still remembers Sky and is thrilled to see her back in the village.

Moving into Corner House is a fresh start for Sky and she quickly settles in and becomes a part of the community.

Sky meets some colourful characters, but one in particular captures her attention.
Daz, also wanted to buy Corner House, so initially the atmosphere between the two is a little frosty. However, things soon begin to thaw and they tentatively become friends and just maybe a little more.

Daz has his own stuff going on. His best friend has gone to prison, leaving behind his wife and young son. Daz plays a big part in both their lives, which is possibly misconstrued by some.
Daz also has a tricky ex girlfriend to manage. Can he finally move on from her? Or can she win Daz back?

Will Sky’s move bring her the love and security that she desperately craves?
And will everyone have the Christmas they deserve in Middledip?

This seasonal romp from Sue Moorcroft provides all the festive feels, but the story is so much more than just a Christmas tale.
As is so often the case with Sue’s books, there is some really gritty content to the story, which is always written in perfect harmony with the lighter side of the tale.

A White Christmas On Winter St, is a charming and engaging read. The setting of Middledip is idyllic and oozes warmth and community spirit.
There is a great cast of characters. They are well written and all have their own quirks and qualities that bring this story to life.

So, if you like a Christmas read with a strong storyline but still full of everything festive and fun, put on your Christmas pj’s and settle in for a cosy feel good festive read.

A White Christmas on Winter Street by Sue Moorcroft

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

When Sky Terran returns to the village of Middledip after losing the job she loves, she anticipates a quiet Christmas getting used to her new life. However, the annual street decoration competition is coming up and this year, the residents of Winter Street are determined to win.

As she is pulled into the preparations, Sky quickly grows to love the quirky, tight-knit community she is now part of. Including the extremely handsome Daz, who soon becomes more than just a friendly neighbour.

But when Daz’s ex turns up determined to win him back and it seems he might not be the man Sky thought he was, she remembers how much allowing people into her life – and heart – can hurt. As the snow falls, will she and Daz find a way through – and help win a Christmas victory for Winter Street?

My Opinion

It was lovely to return to Middledip and even better to return with such a lovely festive novel. Whilst set in a familiar village, this one is full of brand new characters. This was easily one of those books where you have to read 'just one more chapter' and if you do manage to put the book down then you will be drawn back in.

A very enjoyable book - although I could have guessed that as I have yet to be disappointed by a Sue Moorcroft book. This is a heart-warming tale showing how a community can be united by even the simplest of activities, in this case a Christmas decoration competition.

A gorgeous heartwarming, festive read! It envelopes you into life on Winter St and rapidly has you rallying around Sky and the exploits of her life.

We see her immersed in her work, giving all and everything to the housing development job at work with her adoptive brother, to going back to her roots and happy memories to the place where she very briefly spent time as a child. She has a lot to overcome and trust to build, but we see her flourish in the close knit and welcoming community. It was so nice to read!

That coupled with a sprinkle of festive vibes, a Christmas light street competition and a found family Christmas, it’s perfect for that Xmas literary hit in December.

It was a super enjoyable read and had me excited to return whenever I had to put the book down. The narration was easy and effortless to listen to, which definitely added to the enjoyment. Couldn’t go wrong with this book! Lighthearted and as sweet as a mince pie. Lovely.
