This has an interesting cast of characters that carry the story along a nice pace and create depth to the story. Great plot and I found myself filling an afternoon reading this in one sitting as I found it so enjoyable. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest , unbiased review. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First, I would rate this book 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

The premise of this book had so much potential when Brock Janoff is given a job to simply deliver an envelope and be paid a million dollars is in an envious position who would not want an easy million like that. But things take a turn when Brock becomes too curious on what is in the envelope, was it really just a random chance and who wants him to deliver it. To make matters worse a friend who is going to help him ends up dead. In my opinion this is about the time the story starts to slip a little with all the time the main characters spend on the envelope instead of at a certain point just opening the envelope it felt a bit exasperating instead of building the drama. From this point on the story seemed to get a little to bizarre even though it is a work of fiction. I did read the whole book, so it does pique some interest but just a little too far-fetched. Give it a read and see what you think.

The Ridders by Lisa Towles.
Young PI, BJ Janoff is randomly approached by a stranger with a proposition he can’t refuse – a million dollars to deliver an envelope to a hotel lobby. The pusher forces him to accept the money upfront with the threat of his demise should he fail to deliver it on time. BJ’s growing obsession with the envelope’s contents leads him down a treacherous path toward the game orchestrators, where he discovers a large-scale political scandal, a treasure hunt for a priceless sword, and a global crime ring linked to a WWII-era secret society. When an act of brilliance changes the balance of power, the safety of everyone he loves is in jeopardy. And the more he digs, the closer he comes to truths he can’t bear to face – about his missing father and the elusive Bilderberg Group.
A gripping read. I liked Janoff. I do hope there is more to come. 4*.

I was absolutely hooked on this book. I found the main characters a little empty at times, and rather bland, particularly BJs brother. The story was fantastic, from weird family drama to a global conspiracy, what's not to love?

Story took a totally different direction to what I predicted and I will be following this author and buying her other books!

A standalone action crime mystery novel, The Ridders by Lisa Towles features two brothers who own a private investigation agency in Venice, California. Brock or ‘BJ’ is offered a million dollars by a random stranger to deliver an envelope to a hotel reception. BJ is curious as to why the stranger choose him and what can possibly be worth that much for such a menial task. As he investigates, things get complicated with the Russian mob, a missing woman’s case and their estranged father, intermingling into an enjoyable boy’s action tale. Its flowing narrative and believable characters are undone by the unlikely final confrontation making it a three star read rating. With thanks to Indies United Publishing House and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given.

Lisa Towles has done it again! Her fourth novel is yet another race to the finish mystery that delivers the goods. What starts as a very good mystery on its own, the narrator being paid an exorbitant amount of money to run what should be a simple errand, rapidly becomes a tale of international intrigue and family secrets that will keep you turning pages late into the night.
Lisa is evolving as a storyteller and mystery author of serious talent and is now one of my Must-Follow authors in the mystery genre.

Thos was a bit different and I loved the sound of the premise but it felt incredibly slow going and I did just want something to actually happen!!! The writing style was good and it did end up being a decent enough story but I'd we could have skipped the 1st 800 pages being about the main character just loitering to see what was going to happen and actually skip to the good part, it'd have been more enjoyable
