The Phoenix Club is one of my favourite historical romance series. This book follows Evie, who we have seen as patroness of the club in the previous books. Evie is a retired courtesan but to fit into society she pretends to be a widow and our hero Gregory is the second son of a marquess and a virgin hero.

I loved the relationship between Gregory and Evie. They meet when they rescue a puppy who gets stuck in some brambles. I felt that the two characters complemented each other.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend this series to everyone as I love it so much.

This series keeps getting better!!

Evie has been my favorite character in this series. While she didn't really want the job in the beginning, she finds she truly enjoys it. She has been the calm voice of reason. She has helped Lucien make his dream Club come to fruitition. We finally get to see Mrs. Evie Crenshaw get her HEA. It was hard for her to grasp that she could have one. past was never truly forgotten, because there are petty, small minded people everywhere that need to find a way to feel superior and don't mind tearing others down to do it.

Lord Gregory is a delight! Smart, caring, observant and socially shy. He was working toward becoming a vicar, until his father passed, and now he is not sure what he truly wants to do. His brother, now the Marquess, has always been a narcissist and has had no trouble being a despicable profligate and user of women. His brother's behavior has prompted Gregory to take a more measured and respectful approach to women. This caution has left him a bit behind, in a very lovely way.

As Evie and Gregory bond over the puppy they jointly found and rescued from a hedge row, they become friends. The friendship develops and causes Evie to make a decision that changes the trajectory of her life plans. This decision also is what opens up her past.

The past also threatens to blow a hole in Lucien's club, but he stands firm. Evie and Gregory decide to marry and leave London to let the scandal die down. The pettiness and other forces start the pressure on Lucien that I hope is cleared up in Lucien's story.

Darcy Burke continues to thrive in her Phoenix series which I have been absolutely in love with. Burke's writing has a level of familiarity that is so comforting to me that her historical romances easily draw me in and make me believe in the love between the hero and heroine. Impeccable is the seventh installment in this series and it is another solid romance that I just adored!

If you delight in a cinnamon roll hero who is also a virgin, this novel is for you! Not only is this a romance between a virgin hero and a widowed heroine it also has the layer of teach me how to seduce! Darcy Burke has a way of building a romance that is clear, straightforward and full of heart. Her characters are easy to fall in love with and root for and Evie and Gregory are a perfect pair to join her back list.

Impeccable can be read as a standalone and is also wonderful when reading this series in order. If you love a fairly low angst historical romance, where the romance is truly at the center, than this novel and Darcy Burke are definitely worth the read!

Evie and Gregory meet when they rescue a puppy from some bushes, there's an instant attraction between them that they can't ignore. Gregory falls hard fast and wants to marry Evie, and while Evie has feelings, she refuses to marry and give up her independence and be at a man's will. A shocking turn of events, blackmail and the dog may make Evie change her mind.
This story is full of ups and downs, it's intense sometimes and sweet at other times. I couldn't be happier for this couple.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

As one of the patronesses of the Phoenix Club, and instrumental to the running of the club, Evangeline Renshaw has power. But she's also hiding the fact that she was once a courtesan, and if the truth was revealed, it would damage more than her own reputation. Spending time with her sister, though many only believe they are friends, she meets Lord Gregory Blakemore. He wants her, but not just for a night, he's in it for the long term. Evie can't take the risk, however, and proposes they have a quiet affair, but once they are together, neither can pull away. What may have started as a temporary arrangement soon has the power to be both their ruin, and their salvation.

After the other books in the series, I knew that Evie's story would be worth the wait. The truth about her past, and the motives behind her work were understandable, and it was great to see her and Lucien's friendship in more detail. Yes they may have once been lovers, but they had a true friendship, and would do anything for each other. It wasn't romantic love, but it was definitely love nonetheless. Even so, meeting Gregory shows Evie that not all men are after one thing, and she is capable of falling in love properly, and irrevocably. I don't think this book is my favourite of the series, but the action and underlying story line that ties the whole series together is definitely accelerating. I can't wait for Lucien's story, and the final book in the series!

Gregory and Evie had to navigate society with Evie’s and her past life being the talk of the town. Evie refused to give up the new joy she had found with Gregory, and he decided to fight for what he wanted. Together they forged ahead through all the murky mess thrown on their part. It was a sexy, sweet, delectable, and feisty read.

I love this series and this book was no exception. The two leads were great and I rooted for them, and as always love seeing the other characters show up!

I didn't like this book at all, a virgin , with a secret lady of the night, it was so disappointing. I was looking forward to Evie's story but Burke really turned me off. I hope the next one us better then this - Lord Lucien's story will hopefully be something to look forward to.

Disappointed skip this one. I'm a HUGE fan of Darcy Burke

There is so much going on with their story, secrets and lies being exposed, twists and turns, wonderful secondary characters, full of romance and very steamy, it keeps you on your toes. Recommend!

Thank you for allowing me to read this book. I have enjoyed reading this series. I was a bit disappointed because I thought Evangeline would be paired with Lucian because of their chemistry and past history. But I enjoyed this story just as well.

While I haven't read the entire series, it isn't necessary to follow and enjoy the story. Evangeline Renshaw has not had an easy life. Her mother, sister, Heloise and their maid fled France during the Revolution, without their father, a knight, who was then reported to have been killed. Her mother died and she and her sister were raised by their maid Natalie, until she also died. To support them, Heloise becomes a courtesan and eventually Evie follows her into the trade. But Heloise has her HEA by marrying her protector and Evie is hired by her former protector, Lucien Westbrook, to run the Phoenix Club. Evie had to re-invent herself as a widow before she took the position. Three years later the club is doing very well and Evie enjoys her independence, as manager and patronesses, with no interest to ever marry. But when she visits her sister, she must pretend to be a friend. There with the help of Lord Gregory Blakemore, her sister's neighbor, she rescues a puppy, who Gregory decides to adopt. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, however Gregory wants more. But bitter, selfish people around them plot to hurt them both. However they have a wonderful surprise toward the end and a very HEA. I hope to have the opportunity to read the finale book about Lucien.

It is a lovely story, with admirable characters. but there was this weird description at the beginning of Gregory being a white man. It was off-putting and very unlike the author's work.
I read an ARC from th publisher via NetGAlley.com. This is my unbiased review.

I do appreciate Darcy Burke's writing style. This was an unusual historical romance, but fits perfectly within the world of the Phoenix Club. I truly didn't see a way for the two of them to be together, or to be vulnerable with each other, but Burke made it feel authentic and meaningful.

Another fantastic addition to the Phoenix Club series by Darcy Burke, Impeccable tells Evie’s story, a Phoenix Club patroness and close friend of the Club’s owner. Posing as a close friend of her sister in order to hide her past as a courtesan, she meets Lord Gregory, her sister’s new neighbor. Their instant attraction results in a temporary engagement to meet in privacy to practice the art of seduction. However, this results in dangerous feelings that could reveal who Evie actually is, undoing all her hard work to hide her past.

I really enjoy reading all of Darcy Burke’s books. Most can be read very fast and have interesting plot lines and characters. I love a series like the Phoenix club where you can truly get to know all the characters and most of them are recurring in the other books in the series, so you can keep up with how their love stories worked out in the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out, as finally the Phoenix Club’s owner, Lucien will get his chance at true love.

Revelations

Oh boy, this book is full of revelations! I really looked forward to Evie's book and it did not disappoint.

I recently discovered this series by Darcy Burke and I was ecstatic when I received an eARC of Impeccable. Lord Gregory Blakemore is a respectable, virtuous hero who quickly falls for Evangeline Renshaw, a former courtesan and pretend widow. She is the patroness of the Phoenix Club and is content with her new, carefully crafted life. Evie and Gregory were a great example of opposites attract, Gregory was definitely more open and optimistic, while Evie was jaded and cynical. I enjoy the paring of an innocent hero with a worldly, experienced heroine because it flips a common trope on it's head. It was wonderful to see Evie get her HEA and I think this book does her justice. I'm sad to see this series coming to an end, but I'm excited for the next book and can't wait to continue this series.

I am loving this series! Darcy Burke is one of my favorite authors of historical romance and I was so excited to read Evie’s story. Burke makes the journey through the relationship of the two MCs enjoyable and heartfelt - not to mention spicy! Ash was a fun addition to the story and makes me want a puppy. Evie’s conviction that every person should be able to choose a lover of their own will and volition is affirming and I appreciate the nonjudgmental take that this series advocates in each book.

I received an ARC courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. The opinions are mine alone.

I’m so disappointed to give this two stars. If I were being kind, this could be three stars. But I have loved this series and this one was frankly just not on par with the rest.

I was never really drawn to Evie because we don’t see much of her character in terms of real characterization throughout the series. She pops in to be helpful, but I didn’t know her. In her own book, I had the same complaint. She is very closed off and private and it made it hard to connect with her. I didn’t see a spark between her and Gregory and didn’t really get the connection.

For a romance to start with an affair, I need to be pretty invested in the affair. But I also found that to be lackluster. It was serviceable, but I was kind of disappointed that this virgin hero was immediately amazing in bed, I wanted some fumbling and awkwardness. He’s also a total cinnamon roll and that just isn’t always my favorite.

I’m excited to see what the finale of the series has in store.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I will be so sad when this series ends. Impeccable continues to build on this delightful regency world that Darcy Burke has created with the story of Eve. A strong female lead who we have gotten to watch over the previous 6 books build a world of her own, nurturing and helping other women (and men) come into themselves. Well it's her turn this time. LOVED her finding her own happy ending, however unlikely it seemed to be. Can't wait for Lucian's story next!

Love conquers all in this story of a former courtesan and a would-be bishop. The romance may be slow burn but the intimacy is anything but! They are incredibly passionate and I absolutely fell in love with the dog. I was very happy that the end brought so many happy endings into place for their family, and set them on a wonderful path together. Looking forward to the final book in this series!!! #netgalley #Impeccable

I received a copy from Netgalley; this is my honest review
Mystery romance with too much open bedroom scenes. A bit too much pushy on how people are white versus? I don't know. False claims about feet and a man's member. A bit put off by Evie's teaching Gregory in what should have been natural to him. Too many repeats. Also some information comes before and then the person in question acts all surprised when she already knows; I think the author forgot. Same with Tuesdays being busy or not.
