oh this one's fun. this book contains introduction to our solar system, with fun explanation of each planets. paired with colorfull and cute illustrations, this book is a perfect treats for future scientist!
Was Arial really the only font? While the premise is important, I'm not sure the full paragraphs are going to be understood by children that read board books. The colors are jarring.
For any child who is interested in space or any adult wishing to introduce the scale of the universe to a child, this is ideal. It is informative but it's also fun- this combination being key for engaging children in a topic.
As a teacher, I read this book with several children on a 1-1 basis during a long coach ride. They were fed up with travelling but could find plenty of enthusiasm for us reading this book together. I believe this to be the ideal way to experience a book like this; an adult is needed to further explain difficult concepts and aid with decoding new terminology (not all of the text is phonetically decodable) but children truly enjoy the learning opportunity.
The illustrations were my favorites! The dog sticking its tongue to the metal door was so clever. #justiceforpluto
I read and shared this one with my kids. They are learning about planets and were excited for this one. The colors are bright and colorful, the words easy to understand and for them to read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy.
Planets by John Devolle takes us on a journey across the solar system with Illuminating facts about the planets and gorgeous vivid illustrations.
Interesting facts told through a conversational narrative style, accompanied by rhetorical questions, hypothetical situations and hilarious jokes, this book is engaging and exciting all at once.
Combining humour with science makes this the perfect book for curious young minds wanting to know more about the universe we live in.
Planets by John Devolle is cute book about Earth and other planets would be a great book to gift one of my grandchildren who is 11.
A very simple introductory for kids wanting to learn a bit about the planets in our solar system and a reason why we can't live on them. The illustrations are very bright and eye catching.
This was cute! Some of the illustrations really made me chuckle, and most of the content is quite easy to understand. I think this would be best for readers on the older side of elementary school. I think some of the information at the very beginning was a little more complex and better for that older age range, but the descriptions of the planets I found to be much more straightforward. Overall, I liked it. I'll probably read this to some of my young cousins who love learning about space!
