I originally requested for this book because I love astronomy and night photos. I imagined just looking through the pictures and saying “oohs” and “aahs.” Then I noticed there was a good amount of writing, so I’d take some time to read pieces as well.
From the beginning, I almost couldn’t put it down. The writing complemented and explained the photos so much more I read the entire book. The photos are awesome and the writing gives me detailed into them. I loved these types of books when I taught science because my middle loved looking at pictures, but if they were curious, could always read the captions to give them more into what the photo was illustrating.
This book has pieces that I could use in a science classroom about eclipses and celestial phenomena. It is a marvel that night photographers go out when the rest of us are going home or going to bed, but do they get to a beautiful view!
Thanks White Lion Publishing and Netgalley for giving the opportunity to access this ARC. I think this would be a great addition to our shelves and encourage students to take a step outside and look at the stars.

This book is absolutely breathtaking! Photographers journeyed to some of the most remote dark sky regions of the world to photograph both nature and man made objects of great beauty. A book to relish as the the days become shorter and the nights being to close in

The World at Night is an absolutely stunning collection of nighttime photography curated by Babak Tafreshi. The images in this book show pictures of the night sky as you’ve never seen it before. Away from light pollution, the stars and galaxies shine in the most breathtaking ways. The explosion of colors is incredibly beautiful and majestic.
The book is divided into different sections and has images of lunar eclipses, comets, planets, and natural phenomena like the aurora borealis. There were things in this book I had never heard of such as light pillars and Red Sprites, and they are stunning! Each section has an explanation for what is happening in the sky in those pictures, which was very informative and interesting.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group- White Lion for this amazing ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
