Thank you for this advanced copy. I didn't really care for this story. It was too slow moving for me. I tried to skim it and still couldn't get into it. Too many characters and just too much going on to stay focused enough. Not for me.
A gripping thriller. The Dive transported me to the supposed paradise of a Thai island and peeled back the layers to reveal flawed characters hiding away from their pasts, predators using the freedom and remote setting to indulge their desire for violence, and the rot beneath a tight knit community. A good choice if you want an engrossing and twisty holiday read.
Grippingly unpredictable. Be prepared to put your life on hold! Taut and tense from the first page to the closing paragraphs……loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Take this book on your next holiday!
You'll be seeing this title in the book stores on your way through the airport, grab it as you pass for a rip roaring thriller in the azure waters of a diving instructor who's life is turned upside down.
If you enjoyed Alex Garlands The Beach, read this!
I enjoyed this book, it was well written and fast paced and the tropical setting was refreshing.
It was a bit predictable in places but that took nothing away from the suspenseful storyline. The characters were wholesome and well described and I was happy with the amount we get to know about them and their back stories.
Sun, sea and sand! A beautiful tropical island. But what is hiding in the shadows? As the story unfolds, you learn about the inhabitants and guests and the backgrounds they are running away from. Deaths occur which are covered up as accidents. People are not who they seem. One person is determined to get to the truth but will it cost her life? Good story with a terrific twist at the end!
A truly luxurious location, written beautifully and a mystery that will keep you reading in to the night.
The writing is sublime.
I love books set on tropical islands and this is a great one to add to your list if you are the same. It's punchy, thrilling and the atmosphere when the group goes diving and what they find there just fascinated me.
The cover is something else and really draws you in. I think when this book comes out in July it will be in peak dive and swimming season so read this on a desert island if you can!
The Dive is a twisty, addictive thriller perfect for fans of fast-paced whodunnit mysteries. Its idyllic setting and dual narrative makes it an engrossing read and, right from the start, I was swept away to a world of sun, sea, and murder.
Each character in The Dive is well fleshed out, particularly Cass and Brooke, whose points of view alternate with every chapter. Everyone has secrets and lies they’re hiding, and it’s brilliant how things are slowly revealed. I thought I’d almost guessed a couple of twists, but by the end of the book I realised I was way off the mark. Talk about a tangled web!
I flew though this book, eager to see what revelations the next chapter would bring. Sara Ochs has an easy, immersive way of writing, and I was surprised to learn this is her debut novel. I can’t wait to see what else she writes, and I hope they’ll be just as good as The Dive.
I highly recommend this book for fans of Lucy Foley’s novels, and to anyone who likes getting lost in a genuinely gripping story. Suspend your disbelief and be whisked away to Thailand, where everything looks perfect but nothing is as it seems. Enjoy your stay!
This was an excellent read. Lots of twists and turns. Will look out for this authors future books. Thanks Netgalley for letting me read it.
Wow !!! This is fantastic, full of twists and turns. I was guessing right up to the ending and what a twist. Full of suspense this is a really great read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book by Sara Ochs. The story is set on a small Thai Island - Koh Sang, where a group of ex-pats run the Dive Centre at the islands only resort. It is a whodunnit plus plus - absolutely riveting.
Will seek this author out in future.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers Random House Bantam for the ARC.
I absolutely loved this book! It sent chills down my spine and it is everything I had hoped for in a thriller.
Thank you NetGalley and Sara Ochs for the opportunity to read this in advance!
A mystery that draws you in and holds lots of tension. Tense. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.
What a great book! I was hooked straight away with the mysterious prologue and the setting drew me right in. I found myself dreaming of Thai beaches and terrifying scenarios, all the while trying to work out what the heck was going on. I was wrong footed several times, and I absolutely loved the ending (I actually chuckled at the brilliance of it). Highly recommended!
Great story with an amazing setting as well. Lots of twists and turns along the way and I was still guessing at the end. Brilliant.
The Dive by Sara Ochs was an entertaining read. It follows a group of young people living and working on the island of Koh Sang, in a resort. They’ve got the perfect insta lives; sun, sea and parties. Everything seems peachy until one of the guests turns up dead on a dive, and throws their lives into chaos.
This was entertaining, and to start with had a great whodunnit vibe, but I found the story evolving into the realms of unrealistic. I struggled to find a feasible way that any of the events could really take place. I was also a bit confused by the storyline as there seemed to be a major switch, and suddenly it wasn’t about the original thread at all.
5/5
The last two chapter could be described with this one GIF

But man oh man I enjoyed it! From each description of the island, to the emotions each character felt.
I had an inkling of who the guilty party was, but I flip flopped like a fish out of the ocean the further we got into the story.
If you love a murder mystery, definitely pick this one up!
Great great great book. Really loved it. Will read more works form the author and look them up too. Well written. Well paced. Just great.
I really enjoyed this thriller set on a remote, gorgeous island. The story alternates between the POV Of scuba instructor Cass and Instagram influencer Brooke, and both have secrets to hide. This was suspenseful and would make a great beach read.
