Another great edition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. Loved the art style on this one! I can see a ballet lover kid enjoying this one a lot!

'Anna Pavlova' by Maria Isabel Sanches Vegara, is another lovely book in the 'Little People, Big Dreams' series. Simple text and stylistic illustrations, my 9yo and I found this to be engaging but definitely aimed at a younger audience. It highlighted well that despite being different to other young ballet dancers, bullied and considered not to be natural dancer, Anna's hard work, perseverance and vision for her own life is what led her to the incredible title of 'Prima Ballerina'.

As always, we enjoyed the additional facts and timeline included at the end. We also love that each book in this series really captures a different artistic style in it's illustrations. We know these ones won't be to everyone's liking but it felt unique, something a bit different but no less beautiful, which feels truly fitting for the story of Anna.

Having lived and breathed ballet when a young girl, I was excited for ‘Anna Pavlova’, a new addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series of mini biographies, by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara intended for readers aged 4-7. (I am certain that I am not the only adult that enjoys them).

I was not aware of Pavlova’s early life or that she had to work hard to achieve the status of prima ballerina; overcoming what her teachers felt were physical faults. I felt that the message in one panel “that only hard work transforms talent into genius” is an important one. I found the details of her later life, including her interest in world dance, particularly fascinating.

The art work by Sue Downing is quite abstract, almost Cubist in style. I especially enjoyed how she incorporated swans and swan motifs into some of the illustrations echoing Pavlova’s iconic role as the Dying Swan.

The book ends with a biographical timeline accompanied by photographs and a suggestion for further reading at a slightly older level. The photo of Anna with a swan taken in 1920 at her London home was very sweet.

I am always happy to recommend new additions to this delightful series to parents, grandparents, educators, and librarians as a gentle way to introduce children to biography, history and nonfiction. I expect that ‘Anna Pavlova’ will be especially popular with young dancers.

Anna Pavlova was a famous Russian ballerina and the first to ever do a world tour. She is really well known in the dance world, even to this day! This is a great addition to the LPBD series! Interesting as every and great art.

I absolutely love this series, and this was no exception! I only knew a little bit about Anna Pavlova previously, so it was nice to learn more through this picture-book. I thought it did a good job at focusing on the different parts of her life that were relevant, and also loved the illustrations!

Can definitely recommend this!

What a lovely book to read to children as well as yourself no matter how old you are. It’s perfect for any ballet dancer and the illustrations and drawings are just Superb! Maria Isabela Sanchez Vergara Knocks it Out of the Ballpark!

Anna Pavlova is the 91st book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. It is a wonderful story about grit, determination, and resilience. Anna fell in low with ballet after watching a performance with her mother. She tried but failed to gain a place in the Imperial Ballet in Russia but was rejected. This did not stop her from fulfilling her dreams of becoming the most renowned Prima ballerina in history.

The timeline at the back of the book gives further insight into Anna's life story and the book is accompanied by quirky illustrations by Sue Downing.

A wonderful addition to Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara's collection. The story of Anna Pavlova demonstrates what can come by embracing challenges and pursuing a dream. This book highlights the hard work that comes from dedication and working to spread the beauty of art to others. Great book and I look forward to other books by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara.

Pavlova's childhood and career come to life for elementary level readers in this book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Readers watch as Anna overcomes other people's views of dancers and becomes the prima ballerina in the Russian Imperial Ballet. From there, she traveled the world and formed her own dance company to bring the gift of dance to people in all areas of the world. She also formed her own dance school to share her love of dance with the next generation.
Sanchez Vegara writes for this age level so they can learn for themselves or share with their families.

I have heard of Anna Pavlova but never heard the story.
This books illustration was so colourful and beautiful. Im intrigued with Anna and now I want to learn more about her.

Little People, Big Dreams is an excellent series of books for the younger generation to find out about famous people in history. As a teacher and mother, I would recommend this book for under 7s as by the later years, most children want to know more than these books offer although the back pages of more factual and detailed information will help to extend the enquiring mind of the interested and older readers. I have to admit that this is not my favourite in this this series as I feel that the artwork is somewhat ‘clumsy’ for the subject matter of ballet. However, I do appreciate that the people featured are not all stick like, giving the impression that only the very thin can dance!!

Another great book from Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. I knew the name Anna Pavlova but other than knowing she was a ballet dancer not much else. This story tells you her story with pretty illustrations as well as a few paragraphs at the end for older people to read. I will never stop recommending these books!

Myself and my 7 year old (will refer to him as RJ) are massive fans of the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ book series’. So I couldn’t wait to get access to this one so could read them together.

True to form, these books were beautifully illustrated, told great stories of remarkable people and left lots to talk about and discuss afterwards.

Beautiful story and illustrations again. I just adore these books and the diversity in them all. They’re such lovely additions to the children’s bookshelves. They’ve opened up lots of different discussions as well as new interests and aspirations from the children. Another to add to our collection.

This was just a beautiful and colorful story about the young Anna Pavlova. Another great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams collection by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. There is nothing more uplifting to share with children than a story about perseverance and really following your passions. Just when one might stop dancing ballet you see how Anna Pavlova didn't stop, kept at it, and her dreams came true. The illustrations are fantastic, the story is so special, love the lessons in these stories.

They are always packed with facts about the person who they are writing about and full of colourful illustrations throughout.

Little Anna fell in love with ballet after watching a performance with her mother. At the age of just nine years old, she auditioned for the famous Imperial Ballet! But…she was rejected.

The set-back didn’t stop Anna—she auditioned again a year later and was accepted into the company. Although ballet was her passion, it didn’t always come easily to her, and she worked fiercely to become the best.

After her training was complete, she performed across Russia and later formed her own company with which she toured the world. The story of Anna Pavlova, one of the greatest dancers to have ever lived, teaches us that with hard work, our talents can take us wherever we want to go.

I found this little book full of easy to read, with great Illustrations throughout this small book. and I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books

A great book, that is written simply but factually from when Anna Pavlova was born, and how she grew up and to who she became.
Lovely read, which is something I always expect from these books.

This was a sweet story about the famous ballerina. My son wasn’t as interested in this one as he is many of the others but I can imagine any child who loves dance would like this one. As usual the story gave you a small history and what the person had to overcome. The illustrations were beautiful as always with the different illustrators I’m this series.

Lovely introduction to Anna Pavlova and the world of ballet.
I love this series and they are always perfectly pitched to the young audience.
