what more do you need on a cold december morning but a fab festive read, it’s like pulling on a cosy jumper reading a sea breeze farm book!
a fab festive read that i would recommend
Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm is a very heartwarming, family orientated book, that is full of emotional ups and downs and I absolutely loved it!
From the very beginning I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and just kept reading more and more because i just wanted to know what was going to happen next.
I loved the character Freya and was so glad that i went along on her journey with her, it was so lovely and emotional too.
I loved where the book was set and the whole story was like a great big hug and definitely got me in the holiday spirit…
I hadn't read a Jo Bartlett book before but i will be going back to read more because this just gorgeous.
Another great read by Jo. Although I had noticed that it had been published under another title. This didn't matter to me as I was reading it for the first time. Jo Bartlett is a very enjoyable author.
Can Jo Bartlett do any wrong? No! Absolutely not! Another absolute cracker! Wonderful characters that come to life, a beautiful setting I just want to visit, heartfelt writing. The perfect festive read to curl up with.
I’ve absolutely loved reading Jo Bartlett’s Cornish Midwives series over the past couple of years so I was looking forward to learning about a new set of characters and a new location. And with this one being a Christmas book I just couldn’t resist - although I do now need to go back and read book 1.
Seabreeze Farm is a lovely costal location and I could just imagine Ginger running off along the beach and the little independent shops lining the high street, id love to visit somewhere like this one day and it always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
I felt like I knew these characters almost immediately and I definitely want to know more about what they get up to in the future. Freya’s journey is different to most other romance storylines which I quite liked and it helped to embed the sense of hope that was an undercurrent of this book.
When the truth was revealed I was amazed I hadn’t guessed it but it just fitted so well and I did find myself reaching for the tissues pretty swiftly! A tear or two may have spilled out but that was because I just wanted to see Freya get a happy ending that she so clearly deserved! Now I’m just hoping that she sticks around Seabreeze Farm or at least Kelsey Bay rather than heading off to London! Fingers crossed for the next book!!!!
Whilst clearing through her departed mothers' belongings, Freya is shocked to discover that the man whom she called her dad was not her father after all.
Freya escapes to Seabreeze farm to reflect on her life and family and to give herself a chance to recover.
I just loved this easy flowing romance/ cosy mystery. The characters were both believable and likeable. The story captivated me from the start and left me with a tear in my eye at the end.
Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is the first book I remember reading written by Jo Bartlett. It definitely wont’s be the last since I so enjoyed this story of the almost not wedding between Ollie and Freya.
These two are planning a wedding but extremely unexpected surprises come their way derailing that plan. For a short while all seems hopeless for Freya but this is a romance so expect a HEA. It is also a bit of women’s fiction but it is truly a romance too.
It was obvious that there was more to their story when this one began. For that reason alone I would suggest reading the books in order, though I have not read the first book yet. I loved these characters so much feeling as if I was actually friends with them so of course I want to know their back story.
4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
On the cusp of her wedding, Freya makes two disturbing discoveries: her father is not who she thought he was, and her fiancé has been lying to her. Freya heads to the wedding venue to cancel her wedding plans and to make use of the accommodations already booked. She finds herself getting involved with life at the farm, and making new connections.
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

Oh what a wonderful heartwarming story!. I loved it from start to finish and especially loved the main characters and of course the animals!!.
Jo is a great writer and sets the scene perfectly with characters you can really relate to and learn to love.
Freya has a lot of problems when she turns up at Seabreeze Farm but Ellie the owner lets her stay in her intended bridal apartment, even though the wedding has been cancelled. "I'm not sure if I'd have stayed there if I'd cancelled my wedding", I thought!. So my thoughts moved along with the story!.
I can't recommend this book enough!. It's got it all, heartbreak, love, a baby and Christmas!!. What more could you want!!.
Netgalley were kind enough to send me a free ARC book for an honest review.

Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm by Jo Bartlett is the 2nd Seabreeze Farm book. It’s a delightful, heartwarming story about reuniting with family. I found the main character Freya a little shallow and self-centered though. It seemed the second anything didn’t go her way she would just run away after jumping to conclusions and wouldn’t give anyone the chance to explain what was really happening. Not a good way to live your life. Luckily for her the people in her life were more understanding than she was. Overall, it was a good story with a nice ending. I would like to go back and read the first book to see how it all started. Thank you to NetGalley, Jo Bartlett and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this touching Christmas story.
Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm (previously published as Finding Dad) is the latest book I’ve gotten from a publisher that I’ve grown very fond of. The publisher has lots of cozy mysteries and feel-good books that are great to curl up with and enjoy. This book is no different.
Even though this is the second book in the series, this book can be read as a standalone. I don’t feel like I was missing anything by not reading the first book when I dived into this one. Freya has not one but two big surprises in store for her leading up to her wedding, which is set during the Christmas season in Kelsea Bay, and being the ignorant American that I am, I have no idea if that’s a real or imagined place. But the description of the seaside town sounds lovely.
I found the book engaging, although with all the animals and their names, I started to get confused at times wondering if Freya was interacting with new characters in the story and then realized it was the farm animals.
Freya’s journey to find her real father takes place over a short period of time, and although she’s frustrated after a few days searching, I almost had to laugh because most people have to search for a long time to find a long-lost birth parent. The fact that she actually finds her real father in a few weeks is astounding and a little unbelievable, but I suppose that’s to be expected in a cozy holiday story. It’s a Christmas miracle!
This book was a nice escape from reality and makes me realize I really need to get across the pond and visit England someday, spending a month or two exploring the countryside and seeing all these wonderful settings I keep reading about.
Just sometimes, Christmas reads are full (to overflowing) with tinsel, sparkling lights, mince pies and turkey, the snow gently falling – and yes, you know I love every one. But this one is a lot more about the spirit of Christmas – being wrapped in love, finding family (even if it’s not your own), feeling that you belong, and everyday acts of kindness – and I have to tell you that I thought it was just wonderful.
After a really lovely prologue that sets the scene, I took Freya to my heart from the very beginning – I really did ache for her – when, still grief stricken after the loss of her mother, she discovers that the man she always called “dad” wasn’t actually her father. Still reeling from that news, she wants to share the news with fiance Ollie – their marriage is all planned for just before Christmas, followed by a move to London – only to find him looking very cosy with her bridesmaid, who’s also her best friend. So she decides to run, to a place where no-one will expect to find her – to Seabreeze Farm, where the accommodation is already booked for the planned wedding, and facing a sad and lonely Christmas at Kelsea Bay, where she has so many memories of happy family holidays.
Dogs always know when you need a cuddle, don’t they? Ginger, the lovely little terrier, moves into the Old Stables with her, and accompanies her on her solitary walks. But she’s also embraced by the family now well-settled at Seabreeze Farm, who you’ll already know well if you’ve read the first book in the series (but you really don’t need to worry if you haven’t – you could quite happily read this one as a standalone). Ellie’s heavily pregnant, and her mother Karen is off her feet after an accident, so they’re glad of Freya’s help in looking after all the rescue animals and running the last two events of the year – and Karen’s particularly grateful for someone to keep an eye on her and to chat with. But if Ellie’s touched by how readily she’s embraced as part of the family, they have their reasons to be particularly grateful for her presence – a moment of real drama, really well handled.
And, with help (at a distance) from her beloved auntie Linda, she continues the search for her real father – with lots of false leads and more than a little misdirection. I’ll admit I rather thought I could see the direction in which that storyline was heading – but you really will have to read the book to find out if I was right.
There’s a real warmth to this book – it’s rather a trademark of Jo Bartlett’s lovely writing – and the emotional content is just perfect. All the characters are beautifully drawn, as is the location – and the storytelling is superb, taking you away from your own day-to-day and immersing you in the lives of others. And the book’s ending? I loved it – everything I wanted it to be. And if you’re looking for that Christmas feeling, you’ll certainly find it here – and you’ll be smiling and wiping away a tear at times, as I was. A really lovely read – and a definite recommendation from me.
The second book in the Seabreeze Farm series reads well as a standalone but reading this will make you want to read the first book too. Freya has always loved Christmas, made special each year by her parents, but now they are both dead, and when she finds out a long-hidden family secret, she runs.
Family and the true meaning of the festive season infuse this story. Freya meets the family at Seabreeze Farm and finds a place to heal and think. I love the characters that drive this story; they are believably complex and recognisable. The vividly described setting and the drama make this an engaging read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
Fans of Jo Bartlett’s books are going to fall in love with her latest, Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm.
I can never say no to reviewing a Jo Bartlett book; because her books always have so much charm and depth. Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is a novella (less than 150 pages) from the Seabreeze Farm series. It takes place four years after Welcome to Seabreeze Farm. You could read this book as a stand-alone, but I wouldn’t recommend it because this story builds on events that happened in the previous book. This book is a fun, easy breezy read. I have found that The Seabreeze Farm series tends to be more fun and lighthearted; compared to Jo’s Cornish Midwife series, which often tackles more serious issues and will usually have you reaching for the tissue box.
This book introduces us to Freya, who is having a terrible, no-good day. It turned out that the man Freya believed was her father wasn’t actually her biological father. Freya is devastated and hurt. She cannot believe that her family would lie to her about something so important. Things get even worse for Freya when she stumbles upon Ollie (her finance) and Sophie (her best friend) having what appears to be a very romantic lunch. Freya confronts the two, and the argument results in a broken engagement. Freya heads to Seabreeze Farm for a much-needed escape and to discover who her birth father is.
This book starts with a bang! The drama unfolding in the first few chapters will capture any reader’s attention. The story’s main focus is around Freya trying to discover who her birth father is. This is a challenging journey because Freya’s mother passed away two years ago and left little to no information about her life before Freya’s birth. I found myself quickly becoming invested in Freya’s search. I was curious if her father was a character I already knew or someone we hadn’t been introduced to yet. I got frustrated when setbacks in the search happened and excited when new facts came to light. The man who turned out to be her father was a real surprise to me, and I loved how that part of the story wrapped up.
Fans of Welcome to Seabreeze Farm will be thrilled to know that parts of this book are told from Ellie’s POV. She and Ben are happily married and are expecting their first child. My heart burst with happiness when I saw that these two got their happily ever after. I loved their part in this book and the friendship between Ellie and Freya. It was so heartwarming. It was a joy to return to Seabreeze Farm. The animals are just as crazy and adorable (of course) as ever. They are a source of fabulous entertainment.
The romance in this book takes a backseat in the overall story. Freya and Ollie split up right at the beginning, and the majority of the book is about Ollie trying to reach and talk to Freya. I struggled with Freya’s rash decision to end her relationship with Ollie. Part of me understood that she was under a lot of stress, but I don’t know if it justified ending her relationship and cancelling her wedding without actually having a conversation with her boyfriend. I understand that having Jo leave her relationship allowed for the story to go in the direction it did, but having these two go on a break would have been more believable and not as jarring to the overall story.
Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is a charming and heartwarming story.
What a delightful read this was! This is the second in the Seabreeze series but can easily be read as a stand alone book.
A lovely festive read that would make the perfect Hallmark christmas movie. This is the first Jo Bartlett book I’ve read and I’ll be sure to check out more of her books.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest and free review.
this is the second book in this sweet series, It can be read as a stand along. I enjoyed the story very much. Looking forward to the next book.
This is the second book in the series of sea breeze farm, however it can be read as a stand alone festive novel! I throughly enjoyed reading it as I love jo Bartlett novels. Thank you NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy.
Another gorgeous read from Jo Bartlett. Her characters and place setting come alive again in this heartwarming story about love and friendships. I can always rely on a Jo Bartlett book to give me a hug and Freya’s journey is emotional and beautiful. Seabreeze Farm sounded the perfect place to regroup and decide on next steps and Karen and her family were wonderful hosts.
Back at Seabreeze Farm . Ellie is ready to have her baby and develop her new business.
Freya thinks she has it all, a fiancee and due to be married at Seabreeze Farm till she makes a shocking discovery. Freya finds herself on a journey of discovery .
Really enjoyed the familiar faces and new characters.
