Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an ARC. This was my sixth book by Maddie Dawson. While it wasn’t my favorite of all her books, I enjoyed it. This story is full of whimsy and interesting quirky characters who come with their own complexity. It’s refreshing to read a story about a 60 year old MC and follow along as you hope for her HEA.
Didn't hate this one but also didn't love it. I'm also not going to lie there were times I wanted to smack Billie. Cause I mean after three failed marriages hey let's take a step back. It got better towards the end. I do think this one would have made a better movie than book.
This story was filled with whimsy and important lessons on love. Billie is such an endearing character and her business to help others overcome heartbreak is unique.
Dawson writes characters that have many facets. This was a joy to read.
I enjoyed the storyline and it was a decent enough read. I couldn't stay hooked though. I did not get the feeling of "just having to finish"
Snap Out of It by Maddie Dawson is a hoot from beginning to end. I’m a 60 something avid reader who loves fast-paced books with short chapters. This book has long chapters and was not a fast read for me. Guess what? I loved it anyway! The characters were so out there, so hilarious, that I was all in from the beginning and didn’t want it to end.
Billie is a 60-year-old free spirit with an eclectic set of friends. One drunken evening she and her closest friend dream up a service to help people who have been left behind by someone they loved. This entails Billie in a bunny suit, going to spurned lover’s homes and ridding them of the detritus of past love. For tough cases, she conjures the (fake) magic.
This book is laugh out loud funny and sweet. Do yourself a favor and put it on your TBR.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this ARC. #SnapOutofIt #NetGalley
It's a so and so storyline. If you have nothing better to read it. I lost interest and fell sleep while reading. The book is written from Billie's perspective and how life goes bye.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was definitely a different read for me and my first book by Dawson. I loved the older woman MC but with that I struggled to connect. The book is filled with eccentric and quirky characters. The basis of the plot captured me: older woman scorned by love starts a company to help others. However, I found myself chuckling at some parts and cringing at others leading me to believe that I'm not quite the right audience for this book.
Perfect for fans of: Eleanor Oliphant is Totally Fine, quirky characters, loose plot line, a fun book to start the new year
Snap Out of It is a laugh out loud, rightly anti unnecessary wallowing in the name of romance, story of people of all ages really. The characters are a great kid of all ages, personalities and outlooks towards Romance and love which is the common thread in this fun, humourous story.
My first read by author Maddy Dawson, and it's a real winner, winner, chicken dinner! I really enjoyed "Snap Out of It" a lot - especially the "older" female MC, Billie, AKA "The Heartbreak Bunny". Billie's been burned a lot by love, so she makes an actual business of it - how very clever!! There's a little bit of magic in this one, along with some great and quirky side characters. Recommend to all who enjoy the rom-com, chick lit genres. My sincere thanks to the publisher & Net Galley for the DRC, all ratings & opinions are my own
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC. This book was a little too quirky for me. While I appreciated the concept of a mature woman starting over, and more books should about women in this age bracket, I just couldn’t get into the whole “bunny costume” thing.
Fun! Fun Fun! About falling in love, falling apart, and pulling it all together again by an author who is one of my "must reads'.
I loved this book. It was so fun and I smiled so much.
I haven't read any books from this author previously but I am going to look for her other books too.
This book is sooo original, it is fun and laugh out loud funny and many points. It is fresh and uplifting and I loved all of the characters in it. Great fun.
A 60 year old woman who lives in a 3 story house with a variety of people who have some pretty cool fun together starts a new company with her best friend to help people get over heartbreak by dressing up as a bunny (?!) and helping them throw out mementos from their ex. Things begin to go sideways when her business takes off and the ex-husband who left her shortly after their daughter was born starts to come back into her life. Her uptight 35 year old daughter is an Instagram influencer who decides to move back in with her mother when her own husband walks out.
I LOVED this! It was so much fun! What a unique storyline and I loved Billie's company and wish that existed in the real world! This was just such a good story and I loved every minute of it!
I loved this book. I love all of Maddie's books. They make me happy. They make me smile. And let's not forget laugh. They make me think, embrace love, quirkiness, friends who are family, and the magic found in each. Don't let the bunny fool you. This is a heartfelt read with rich layers and a satisfying conclusion. LOVED!
Thank you Lake Union Publishing and Net Galley for an ARC of this book. This is the fourth book I have read from Maddie Dawson. I enjoy the way she sprinkles in "magic" into her stories. I had a harder time getting into this story though than her previous books.
This is my third read by this author. I loved both A Happy Catastrophe and Matchmaking for Beginners and am happy to report that Snap Out of It was a hit with me. Billie Slate is a woman after my own heart, I so connected with her and could relate to what she felt and was going through. I mean who hasn’t been hurt by love!? And although this book deals with a lot of heartbreak it is also heartwarming and very funny.
I loved the different characters they were well thought out and seemed so true to life. I think Billie and I would be great friends. I love books, especially rom-coms with women of a certain age. Just because we’re 50+ doesn’t mean we’re past our prime or too old for love. The plot was pretty unique in that Billie operated a company that helps you “snap out of it” when your relationship breaks down. She is basically a woman who helps you get rid of all your mementos and pushes you to move on after a breakup. What a wonderful idea!
Billie the Heartbreak Bunny also has compassion and eventually finds a love of her own, even though she swears she doesn’t believe in romance. Maddie Dawson has another hit on her hands and I for one can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
I loved the characters in this book. I found them to be very likeable and the storyline was cute and fast-paced. An enjoyable read.
Maddie books always gets me. They are not your typical reading. it give me something to think about. I really love them. and want to read more of them.
