This is a slowly meandering love story. It’s sweet and romantic and utterly beguiling. It was a joy to join Esther and Archie on their journey. Their families are the crazy that stops this tale being too saccharine sweet. Really enjoyable from start to finish.
Thank you Netgalley
It was a nice rom com which is a quick and easy read.
Esther is down on her luck she ends up living with her sister and her family. Archie is an apprentice journalist who never gets his chance at the big break.
I enjoyed the book and the characters but you knew what was going to happen so was a bit predictable.
It would be an nice holiday read lazing about the pool.
Esther is down on her luck, she has lost the love of her life, her job and her flat. Archie is a young apprentice at the local newspaper but can’t write down how he feels about Jessie the girl he loves.
A really lovely story of friendship and love.
This rom com is quick and light to read, and isn't very steamy so perfect for those looking for a closed door romance. It's beautifully written, and the post it notes were a really intriguing plot device.
But I found it a little predictable at times, and as I'm moving away a little from closed door romances I was a little bored at times.
I enjoyed this sweet, quirky story. Esther has had a difficult few years. Her boyfriend Matt, the love of her life, suddenly announced that he had met the love of his life, and would like Essie to be his Best Woman at his wedding. Then, while she is still grieving - she is made redundant from her much loved job as an account manager. Things get worse for her, without a good job she can no longer afford her apartment, and is forced to rely on the benevolence of her sister … not so benevolent really as she has to look after her sister’s three children, do the school runs, the laundry, and pretty much anything else her sister thinks of so that she is left free to concentrate on her business from her office in the garden.
Essie at last finds a job, and one that fits in with the demands of her sister’s household, she becomes a night cleaner in an office block. Her entire family think this is beneath her, they are horrified, but Essie finds that she thoroughly enjoys it. She imagines what the people are like from the state of their desks, and sees it as a way to start saving to be able to leave her sister’s house and get her own life back.
Archie Quinn works as an assistant to the editor of the Herald, the local free newspaper, but he is desperate to become a reporter. He is also desperately in love with Jessie Edmonds, who has the desk next to him. He writes love letters to her, which he throws way as being hopeless. Essie likes the way he organises is desk, she has made up stories about everyone in the office from the state of their desks. One night while emptying the waste bins she comes across Archie’s latest love note, and thinks it is quite good. She leaves it on his desk with a little note of encouragement.
And so begins a friendship, made up entirely of post-it note messages, until an amusing incident leaves Essie hiding in the stationery cupboard all night, and Archie finds her there next morning. They start meeting occasionally outside the office, all to help him find the words he needs for the love-letter. They become close friends, without realising their friendship is becoming something much stronger. He invites her to join The Old Guys, a band of awful musicians who have to have ‘rescued’ their instrument. He finds her a battered old ukulele in a scruffy charity shop, and revamps it with bright paint for her. She loves it, and works hard to learn to play it, she loves the band, and they love her in return. Their friendship goes from strength to strength, they are thinking about each other, and texting all the time. Essie has enabled Archie to have all the confidence he needs, and suddenly he is able to write the long-awaited love-letter to Jessie … and it apparently works. But Jessie is jealous of his relationship with Essie, and Essie has problems of her own to contend with!
Suddenly there are a lot of issues for both of them, and they need each other’s help to sort some of them out. They also have to own up to how important they are to each other. This is much more a story about the value of friendship. It is a lovely story with many unexpected twists and turns, and very much worth reading.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this arc.
I love everything by Miranda Dickinson and this one was no different. I loved the characters and the storyline and the fact that there does not need to be explicit sex scenes but that less is more. It was such an easy read and I read it in one go. Another success by Dickinson, bring on the next one.
I was hooked by Esther from the outset and desperately wanted her to be happy. I'm definitely a fan of Miranda Dickinson and I couldn't put this book down. I definitely recommend it.
Though it took me a while to get into, I ended up enjoying this. Mind you, it is a new Miranda Dickinson, so I really don't need to say anymore. Beautifully written, great characters...nuff said!
A perfect summer read from one of my favourite authors. Make sure you have plenty of time to spare though because you won’t want to put it down till it’s finished.
All My Love by Miranda Dickinson
3.5 STARS
A quick, easy to read romance. Felt quite nostalgic in places (when romance didn't need to be x-rated) which was refreshing.
I'd definitely read more of the authors work.
I’ve read the previous book of the author and I now know why her stories are so well loved and looked out.
This one was as great as expected, with beautiful written plot, great character development and very reliable ones I may say, and so much fun and heartwarming overall.
There are many things that I related while reading it and it left a big smile on my face when I turned the last page.
I’m looking forward to read more by the author in the near future.
You know what you're getting with Miranda Dickinson's book - a lovely easy-to-read romance that feels like a hug in book-form. Her latest is no exception. The main characters unite over letter-writing, which seems sweetly nostalgic these days. It's the kind of book I would choose to read on holiday because I know it will give me those feelgood vibes.
This is the perfect summer read, great story and easy to pick up and put down.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
A slightly predictable ending but a good read and it's nice to know how something will end so there are no surprises - although you're not quite sure exactly how they will get to the ending.
Not having read many ‘feel-good’ novels to date, I have nevertheless made a point of picking up each of Miranda Dickinson’s novels, and have been rewarded with an amazing read each time.. This novel is her latest offering and is, quite simply, an uplifting novel that should garner this skilled writer many new fans.
Dickinson is a specialist in pitching extremely likeable ordinary people in situations where they become friends with other unlikely modern-day heroes. This time, these two individuals are Esther and Archie who each have some difficult professional and personal choices to make. Esther has been made redundant from her marketing job. Forced to move in with her sister, she works as a night-time cleaner to get by. Archie, meanwhile, is a lowly newspaper intern whose full potential is not recognised by his superiors. He is hopelessly in love with fellow newspaper worker Jessie, but will he be able to reveal his feelings to her? And what role will Esther play in his eventual happiness?
Extremely well-written, this is a wonderful bit of fictional escapism with a strong moral message of kindness at its heart. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the free ARC that I was gifted and that allowed me to produce this honest book review for a novel that I hope will find many new fans.
Beautiful, powerful story of love.
This is one of those books where you are absolutely willing the characters to see what you can see! No spoilers but a beautiful friendship develops at a time when two people need it the most, but you can’t help thinking that these two people are right for each other as more than friends.
This is my first Miranda Dickinson book and I am now a big fan. I loved this book and I thought the characters were super cute. This would be great for anyone wanting a lovely fun story on a sunlounger this summer.
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
A really nice read. Great characters and I loved that it was set around Manchester. A great beach read. Recommended.
This book is like a breeze. Light and easy to read. Quite romantic with cute characters.
The plot is simple but interesting and it doesn’t exaggerate on the events as it’s common in the genre.
I really liked the idea of the band and the communication through post-its.
I totally recommend it if you’re up for a romance!
