I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
After Reading Miranda Dickinson’ recent book The Start of Something, the publishers sent me this gem!
Esther is living with her sister and her family after the love of her life -her best friend- got married and ghosted her, her job made her redundant and she had to sell the house. She takes on a cleaning job at the local newspaper the Herald, whilst there she spies a love letter thrown in the bin and decides to help the author out.
Now this book is 100% the miscommunication trope but I still really loved it, because what is more Human than miscommunication…
This story is endearing, about personal growth, healing from the past, belonging and family and friends.
Set with the backdrop of the city of Manchester, this book is at tones frustrating but also beautiful. I really enjoyed the story, the growth and healing and learning journey the main characters go on. I liked the relationships and ‘found family’ aspect of the old guys band and loved how much support there was.
Just a really good feel good story… albeit with some tears. But I think I’m sold on whatever Miranda writes next now!
Omg Miranda is one of my all time favorite authors. Absolutely loved this book such a clever idea . Loved the characters felt like you could really feel the chemistry between them. Felt trike shouting at the book a few times x
Miranda Dickinson is a genius, yet another fantastic read! A great contemporary romance that is packed with heart, kindness, compassion and hope. Creating characters that are down on their luck in one way or another and turning them into the hero/heroines they deserve to me. Making us readers take these characters to heart and root for them every step of the way.
As a reader we know our two main characters deserve each other, they completely match but just don’t see it, or want to see it until it’s too late. My heart was breaking and then bursting all in one rollercoaster of a story.
Archie and Esther are probably two of my favourite characters in a long time. I desperately wanted them both to be happy. I loved reading how their friendship developed, it felt genuine, warm and you could see how they clicked from the start – even when they didn’t actually know who the other person was.
I loved the band, the group contained so many wonderful characters, just adding to a brilliant story. Adding some fun, yet some truly heartfelt moments. Glorious.
I couldn’t recommend this enough, I wish we could have a peak into how all their lives are progressing.
Another smash from Miranda.
I have enjoyed all books I've read by Miranda Dickinson.
This was a lovely love story, heart wraming.
No surprises but a great read
MIRANDA DICKENSON - ALL MY LOVE.
What a lovely, warm hearted read this book truly is.
The story is told from the perspectives of Esther and Archie via alternating chapters.
As far as main characters go, these two are a delight. They are both hugely likeable and both very relatable. There is also a good chance that you will fall a little bit in love with them both.
Things begin with the two communicating via post it notes, a la Flatshare, as they each advise the other about their respective love lives.
As the story moves on, it’s clear that the two are attracted to each other, but of course, things aren’t that simple in book land.
I loved the whole band thread in this story. It brought real warmth and humour to the book.
There are a couple of nasty pasties who it seems will stop at nothing to get in Archie and Esther’s way. Baddies never win though do they?
I absolutely adored Archie’s family. Now there’s a set of characters who deserve their own book.
All My Love is such a well written, warm and funny tale, with a love story at it’s heart that will quite simply melt you.
Just gorgeous!

With thanks to Netgalley and HQ for a digital arc of this title.
A wonderful and feel-good story of love and friendship, which will leave you feeling brighter and full of hope. This is a typical friends-to-lover romance, but it developed slowly with patience and time as the character grow closer and also have to deal with what's in their past. I loved watching Archi and Esther take this journey and finally accept the relationship which is in front of them and at the same time make their own way. This is so much more than just a romance though, this has real heart and lots of joy, it's got the most beautiful message of the importance of friendship.
Anyone who loves Miranda Dickinson's work and stories in this genre will absolutely love it!
I always love this authors work and this book was no exception. A fantastic story which was easy to read with good characters. Great story line development and a joy to read. Recommend
This is the story of two people: Archie and Esther.
Esther has just started work in an office building as a night cleaner. Having recently lost her job in marketing and been forced to move in with her sister, Esther is rebuilding her life. Desperately in love with her former best friend Matt (who has recently got married to someone else), Esther is healing and trying to forge a new life for herself.
Meanwhile, Archie is an intern working at The Herald newspaper. He desperately wants to be a journalist but his boss is reluctant to give him the chance, instead treating him like an unpaid skivvy and giving him non journalism related jobs, like washing his car. Archie is in love with his co-worker, Jessie, but is too afraid to tell her.
One night, Archie begins writing a love letter for Jessie before throwing it away unfinished. Esther finds the unfinished note and leaves her own note encouraging Archie to finish the letter and follow his heart. This unlikely pair strike up a friendship that draws them closer together while threatening to tear them apart too.
This is a lovely, nice, warm story but it is very predictable. Yes, it ends exactly where you think it will, and yes, all of the things that you think will happen do. But, it is still an enjoyable, summer read and a nice bit of escapism.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love this book! The story is told by Esther and Archie, each taking a chapter in turn, so the story unfolds from both their points of view consecutively.
Having lost her job, and consequently her flat, Esther takes a job as a cleaner in a newspaper office to earn a bit of money while living with her sister, brother-in-law and three young nieces, earning her keep as basically their nanny and housekeeper. As she tries to come to terms with her losses (including her best friend/secret love), she is encouraged by a new friendship with Archie, one of the newspaper employees, who she offers to help in declaring his love for a colleague.
Sprinkled with plenty of humour, I was touched by the developing relationship between Esther and Archie – lovely, warm feelings washing over me as I read how they built each other up.
Numerous times it felt like we might be coming to the point where most romantic stories would have their happy ending, but I was only a fraction of the way through. What else can happen to make it go on so much longer? How much longer can I wait? I had mixed feelings at these points, as I was desperately hoping for a happy ending for them, but I also wanted to spend a lot more time in Esther and Archie’s company.
As a bonus, the action is set in my home city of Manchester. Must get myself to Heaton Park to sit on a bench by the Temple.
Esther has been cheated on, made redundant and has lost her flat so is living with her sister when she gets a job cleaning offices at night which her mother thinks is beneath her
Archie is a junior reporter for the local paper, lives alone and has a massive crush on one of the more senior reporters
They meet when Esther finds a note that Archie had thrown on the floor not realising it hadn't gone in the bin Esther replies with a post it note and their friendship starts from there
A fab read, a definite will they or won't they story
Archie and Ester meet at work. They agree to help the other get a chance with who the want, but will the realise who they should really be with? A great read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book – beautifully written characters, mainly Esther & Archie - and their story of how Esther helps him write the perfect love letter to Jessie, the girl of his dreams.
Highly recommended to readers of romance and a lovely feel good read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in return of an honest, unbiased review.
3.5 ⭐️
This is a lovely book from Miranda Dickinson who writes some great romance stories.
I really enjoyed the split chapters between our leads Archie and Esther who are on a mission to write the perfect love letter. Together they set out on their research collecting other peoples love stories and the idea of this just makes my heart MELT. Absolutely adorable.
Of course things don't run entirely smooth as true love never does but there are no big surprises in the plot.
Sometimes I found Archie & Esther's portrayal/actions somewhat childish but I don't remember noting what ages they're supposed to be. Maybe I'm just an old woman now 🤣
Overall this is an enjoyable read full of some truly heart-warming characters (The Old Guys are the best).
With thanks to HQ & Netgalley for the ARC
Thoroughly enjoyed this story and found it hard to put down in places. The writing was brilliant, keeping you on tenterhooks in a good, classic will they won't they.
If you are looking for a fun, romantic read that can’t fail to warm your heart, then I recommend you picking up All My Love. It’s the first book by Miranda Dickinson I have read but she clearly knows how to write delightful, feel-good books.
Archie is an aspiring journalist and Esther, who has been through a difficult time and has taken a job as a cleaner in his office. They meet and soon become friends but as they support each other and try and provide romantic advice, including researching the perfect love letter, will they realise that love could be a little closer to home?
Family and friends play an important part and there is a great cast of supporting characters, both young and old. With plenty of humour it’s a book that will make you smile and is perfect for curling up with for a few hours of escapism!
Archie and Esther will take you on a "will they? Won't they?" story in Manchester as they both try to work out who they are and what they want from life and love. Both of them think they know what they want, but when they get it all is not as it seems. A lovely read, very relatable.
Esther Hughes’ life fell apart, she lost her best friend (who she was also in love with), her job and her home. Now she’s living with her sister and just about to start her new job. Night cleaner at the office of the Herald newspaper. Whilst cleaning she imagines the desk inhabitants with post-it King, or Archie Quinn, being her favourite. They strike up a friendship through notes, kindred spirits in their unrequited love. But Esther wants to ensure Archie doesn’t miss out on love like she did.
This is the second book by Dickinson that I’ve read, I really enjoyed ‘The Start of Something’. Esther and Archie are two people that are obviously meant to be together. They become best friends after knowing each other only briefly. There were a few too many obstacles in their path for my liking. It began to feel dragged out. Unrequited objects of desire,Jessie and Matt, are both equally unlikable, their unpleasantness doesn’t reflect well on either main protagonist. As a side note I also found the sister treating Esther like her child immensely annoying. There were things I really liked about this story but sadly there were too many parts I didn’t enjoy. A real shame.
By day, Archie works tirelessly as assistant to the editor of a local newspaper. By night, Esther works after hours cleaning the rows of office desks with the help of her trusty sidekick, Fred the trolley. Their paths never would have crossed, until one discarded Post-it note unexpectedly brings them together. Because they share one thing in common . . . they’re both secretly in love with someone else. And they might just be the two people who can help each other find the courage to confess their feelings and write the perfect love letter. But what if they’re falling for the wrong person?
This was very wholesome and cute but it just didn't hit the spot for me. I always felt like something was missing, maybe it was because the first half initially felt fast paced then it seemed to slow down quite a lot. The main characters were lovely though and I did enjoy it.
I rated this 3 stars!
Another fantastic 5* read from Miranda Dickinson!
I don’t know how she does it, but her characters feel like old friends and this was no exception. I absolutely loved both Archie and Esther (separately and when together!), as well as key characters such as Granda Brady. Dickinson makes the dialogue believable, interesting and relatable, and this creates the magic that has you rooting for the main characters.
I must admit, there were some times when I wondered whether you can ever really feel the connection of instant friendship like Archie and Esther, and there were times throughout both their storylines I felt like shouting at them to open their eyes… but it makes the ending all the more sweet.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the chance to honestly review this book ahead of publication.
I would 100% recommend this read!
This book was lovely. I loved following Esther and Archie’s journey, and the way they both grew as characters as the story went on. It was like a warm hug in a book, even the supporting characters were just adorable. I had a huge smile on my face when I finished this and a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart which I guess means that this is a great book. I highly recommend!
