Oh my goodness, this was addictive I needed to keep going and find out what was happening. This has to be one of the best books that I have read for ages.

Yes, it does get a little confusing with the dead girls, and the ending was rushed, and there were bits that I didn't understand. But overall, the feel of the book worked.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely my own

Amazing debut novel and cannot recommend it enough. From the start we know that "Rachel" is being held hostage by a serial killer and we also know who he is.
I didn't think this would work but I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book and struggled to put it down.
My only criticism is that it weren't long enough! I would've loved the ending to have been a little more fleshed out

At first I found the storyline a little confusing - told in the first person by a few characters and skipping between the past and present. Soon, however, I was involved and invested. I can see this being made into a nail biting film. Would look for other books by this author.

When I started reading the book, I thought it was a little slow, but there was enough content to make me want to carry on reading, and find out more about the people involved.
I'm glad I carried on, as I really enjoyed it, and didn't want to put it down, I was desperate to find out what happened next.
The man in the book is Aiden, a quiet, well respected, upstanding member of the community, admired by neighbours for taking good care of his daughter since his wife died.. He is also a kidnapper, and serial killer, having murdered eight women. The ninth is kept locked up in his shed. This is her story, along with a woman who lives in the same community and thinks about a relationship with Aiden having developed feelings for him..
It is a roller coaster ride of a book, and thoroughly recommended.

The Quiet Tenant is a novel of sheer brilliance. An engaging, captivating, tense thriller that will stick its claws into you from page one and hold on until the very end. This book is written from three perspectives, Rachel, Cecilia and Emily and each chapter just adds to the suspense. This is the author’s debut thriller and from reading this book I can’t wait to read more. If you want a book that is completely unputdownable then I recommend this. Thank you to NetGalley, Little Brown Book Group UK and the author for the chance to review.

Wow. A really well written book. I loved the confusion of the present between characters it had me gripped from the start. There was a few problems but more in the fact that it was just typos etc. But i really enjoyed this book, and I am grateful to have a pre published copy from NetGalley

The book was slow to begin with. However, the more you read it the more you want to know about Adrian who had a double life, where to people he knew he was a respectable single parent as he wife had passed away and he was looking after his 13 year old daughter. However, he was a serial killer who kept trophies of personal belongings of his victims in the basement of his home. He brought one of his victims, who he named Rachel who was initially locked in his shed, then one day he brought her into his home, as though she was a person who needed someone where to stay, but each night he locked her to the radiator in the bedroom. His daughter was not allowed to see anyone out of the house unless she was at school. Rachel eventually was reunited with her family.

What a story! I was a bit reluctant about this at first, I wasn't too keen on the writing style. It's very abrupt, with short, sharp sentences and reminded me a lot of Caroline Kepnes, particularly the You books.

After I got over my initial gripes, I got totally sucked into the story... which was just a great story. The character development was fantastic, the rollercoaster of emotions and whether the "Girl in the Shed" had Stockholm Syndrome was just a great ride.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm glad I got the opportunity to read it, I recommend you do too.

The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon is a psychological thriller which is quite horrifying because one of the main characters. Aiden Thomas lives in a small community and is well respected, but he is a serial killler and he has abducted “Rachel” and now she lives in his house with his daughter.
The story is told through the three women he has contact with, his teenage daughter, his new friend and next victim Emily and “Rachel.”.
”Rachel” was kidnapped over five years ago and has been held prisoner in a shed until Aiden’s wife dies and he has to move, taking “Rachel “with him. The storyline is very sinister and horrifying and it isn’t until the end that you realise how depraved really was.
A traffic debut book, it ramps up the tension all the way through the book.
Highly recommended

I liked the sound of this book.
Found it a little hard to get in to. I wasn’t sure about the angles from different characters at first, I found that confusing. Had to read a good few chapters to understand who was narrating and if it was past or present but got the gist of it towards the end.
I would’ve liked to know more about the lead male character. Why he did what he did. This wasn’t explored.
I found the first half somewhat slow going.
The second half was better for me and I wanted to know how it was going to end so I found myself making more time to read.
Overall, I’d give this 3.5 / 5

Wow, this book was truly unnerving, had me on the edge of my seat. It kept me gripped throughout, with different POV’s, from unknown victims, unknown narrator, serial killer and a naive women. The characters were so interesting, realistic-I was Rooting for Racheal to run but I understood why she didn’t.

It was truly frightening to read the different faces of Aidan, family man, lover, kidnapper and serial killer. It’s true you never know who you can trust, only what people choice To show you.

Whilst there was no big twist and slightly predictable-this was a great psychological thriller.

Out in June 2023, I recommend you go and pre-order.

Girls and young women have been going missing in the local area for a long time.
One girl is taken but he decided to keep this one in his shed.
She is forced to behave and not complain about his treatment.
A terrifying story that is incredibly sad about a girl biding her time to make a bid for freedom.
This story was very atmospheric with the suspense growing from chapter to chapter.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be looking out for more of her work.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I gave this book a rounded-up 3 stars, as I'd rate the first half of the book only 2 stars but the second half 3 stars.

Overall I found The Quiet Tenant a pretty unoriginal story, especially the first half, which dragged and took me a while to get through, but as the story picked up I absolutely flew through it! Ended up enjoying this book, even though you could probably have predicted everything that would happen.

Each chapter is written from the perspective of different women involved in the main character Aidan's life. It's truly frightening to see the different facets of Aidans' personality played out through the supporting characters: father, lover, kidnapper, serial killer...

Had high hopes for this book and was excited to be given the chance to preview it before release. Sadly I wasn’t impressed and no matter how much I couldn’t get into the story at all. I wasn’t hooked and kept jumping in and out of the book always a sign that it’s not for me. The blurb sounded amazing and I really wanted to like this but it wasn’t to be.
