*I recieved this book as an ARC!*
Here is what I enjoyed about the book:
1. The different races of characters! I wish the dwarves had more of a role, but overall I enjoyed the magic aspect of it.
2. I loved how descriptive both the Misty Mountains and the Hidden World was. I am a huge fan of a lot of details and I found it was very well laid out.
3. I enjoyed the back stories of the characters to give a strong understanding of the choices that they make.
4. It was awesome when the book showed the difference in the magical world and the human world. The author was able to bring in backgrounds oh a very diverse set of characters.
What I didn't like:
1. The layout of the book. I know it was an ARC, but the lack of chapters was a bit confusing.
2. It was too short. I get it's supposed to be a series, but it didn't tie up enough lose ends!
With that being said I would definitely keep reading because it was very interesting!!
This book starts with two groups of people, Magicians and Strikers, who are against each other. One event changes the Magicians lives forever and they need to find a way to adjust to their new life.
This book was interesting but I wish it didn’t end so soon! From the blurb on the back of the book I expected more of the story to be about the Misty Mountains conflicts.
This book shows the humanity in everyone. Those who think they are above others end up having the same flaws to harm others in the end.
Definitely reading the next book to see where this story continues! I feel like the next one will be better and have more action!
Thank you for the arc all these thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Legend of Misty Mountains takes place in quite an interesting fantasy land that I enjoyed reading about. It contains dwarfs, magicians, people who are called ''Strikers'' and also the ''Wise Men.'' The world-building was pretty good, though it had me wanting more. I wanted so many more details, and I'm surprised that the book was so short. It could have focused so much more on how Misty Mountains started and the magic system.
I like how Misty Mountains were introduced in the book after one of "The Strange People" saw someone from the mountains floating above. It was neat to see what that world thought of them and then meeting the actual people of the Misty Mountains.
The whole part of the book with Hidden World was great, but again I think so much more of the book could have focused on it. I like what happens with the magicians and how they build up their new world with the children with unique abilities. Also, I wish that the "Strikers' " motivations could have been expanded upon.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and will probably check out the sequel. I want to know what happens next and more about this world.
*Thank you to Netgalley for my ARC copy of the book. All opinions are my own.
I didn't fall in love with this book like I'd hoped, but that isn't to say it's a bad book. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, and I found that a bit overwhelming at times. There were a lot of fun twists that kept me entertained, and the magic in this book is great.
This was such a fun read. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, but that’s ok. The reader quickly becomes immersed in this fantastically created world. It is a great family read aloud for children and adults alike.
3.5/5 The Legend of Misty Mountains was a fantastic read!
If you like books with lots of twists and magic that will keep you entertained the whole time then I recommend this book!
I will say there were a lot of characters to keep track of and even though they were well written I would get confused from time to time.
All in all a fun and exciting Fantasy read.
