A fun listen, where the twists and turns kept me interested and listening to hear what happens next. Will look out for more from this author.

Daniel Hurst reminds readers to never underestimate a betrayed woman in this fascinating novel. When Grace finds her husband Dominic and his mistress in his "man" cabin, she locks them in. And that's when revenge sets in. They are naked in a cabin with no hit. Grace burned their clothes left behind in the main house, and she turned off the heat.

How could someone be so cruel? Maybe because this isn't her first time to feel betrayed? Can romance still simmer in a cold cabin? You may think you can guess the answers, but the author keeps you on your toes. Who is the real bad guy in this tale? The wife, husband or the mistress?

The audiobook narrators do a superb job bringing the characters to life, using tone and vocal nuances to make each stand out. It is read by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates presenting two points of view. Kudos to the author for crafting such an intriguing scenario and characters.

Great narration and another gripping read from one of my favourite authors.

Grace arrives home early and discovers her husband Dominic in his new state of the art cabin with another woman.

Furious, Grace locks them inside and as she formulates her plan for revenge it becomes clear that she is still troubled by harrowing events from her past.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Grace's husband Dominic basically begs her to build this super expensive and low-key ridiculous cabin in the backyard for a home office. She reluctantly agrees, and then one day when she comes home early from a work event, she finds him cheating on her in the cabin so she locks them in there.

100% one of my most surprising reads of the year. When I say surprised, I mean don't necessarily mean by how it turned out although I was, but I was honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I always feel kind of rude when I say that, but hear me out. I went into this book with no real expectations assuming it was a standard domestic thriller, and the title doesn't really make you think it's going to blow your mind. What I got though were some interesting secrets, a decent amount of manipulation, smart women, and a deliciously devious ending!

Honestly, I thought I knew exactly where the story was going pretty early on & that's not at all how it turned out in the end.

The story was told from alternating perspectives - Grace and Dominic with separate audiobook narrators for each.

The narration for each perspective - Eilidh Beaton (Grace) & Matt Bates (Dominic) - was done really well & I think the narrators captured the situations they were in and their feelings and emotions well.

This is the first book I've read by Daniel Hurst, but I absolutely want to check out some more now!

This is a crazy psychological thriller, which I really enjoyed listening to.

There were two narrators; a man playing the part of the husband Dominic, and a woman playing the part of the wife Grace. Each did a great job.

Dominic builds a cabin at the bottom of his garden, and he uses it to cheat on Grace with another woman. Grace catches them cheating and locks them in the cabin, as she is so shocked and angry with them both. In Grace's past, something like this has happened to her before, which ended badly. What will she do this time around? Will she let them out, or will she leave them locked in there?

This was a really bizarre story, but I liked it! Highly recommended.

Many thanks to the author, narrator, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This was an enjoyable story. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a great job. I found the plot had some holes in it but otherwise the story kept me interested.

I had this as an audio book and it was a good entertaining listen. A story with a backstory to bring to a climax. Unlikable characters but that helped with the plot. As a mother of a daughter there is one twist that is very unrealistic in my opinion. I am not sure anyone would encourage this particular action. However, overall a good twisty tale.

DANIEL HURST: THE COUPLE IN THE CABIN.

Audio review.
Narrated by: Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates.

In a bid to step outside my comfort zone, I gave this gripping thriller a try.

Dominic and Grace are, on the surface, happily married. Then Grace stumbles across her loving husband, in the garden shed, doing the dirty deed with another woman - temptress Camilla, a lady with her own agenda.
What does Grace do? Well as any rational woman would do - she locks them in!
As the book progresses, secrets are revealed. Maybe Grace’s past is coming back to haunt her.
Maybe it’s not just Dirty Dominic who is in the wrong.

As I said, this isn’t my usual genre, but I can honestly say I was gripped from the start and on more than one occasion I found myself holding my breath.

The story is fast paced and develops well as the book progresses.

The characters are complex, vulnerable and damaged, but this also made them interesting.

This story really doesn’t pause for breath. It’s gripping, heart stopping, full of twists and turns - almost all of which I didn’t see coming.

I loved Daniel Hurst’s writing style. It’s strong and straightforward, while all the while reeling you in until you just can’t put the book down.

A fantastic read, that will keep you on the edge of your seat and turning those pages.

This was an interesting plot for a book. Initially seemed unrealistic, but proved to be interesting with some good twists.

I loved the dual narration. I find one person doing both voice's irritating.

Both main characters were complicated and I realised at the end that I wasn't really routing for either very flawed characters. Nevertheless it was a good read.

This was my first book by Daniel Hurst which I listened to as an audio book. I found it to be a very entertaining story with a unique premise and is told from the points of view of both the husband and wife in the present day and in the past. The events that happened years ago gives an indication as to why the couple come to be locked in the cabin and the reason for the wife's behaviour. There is a good climax and twist at the end of the book which I had not expected. I found parts of the husbands dialogue quite amusing but I am not sure whether that was the authors intention or the spin the narrator put on the character. The narration was excellent and suited the characters perfectly. I will not hesitate to pick up another book by this author.

This book is full of twists! With each word the narrators read I was more and more intrigued to see where the story would lead. How long will Grace keep them in the cabin? What happen in her past? Why is she so calm!?!

I would definitely recommend this audiobook!
