Things that annoyed me:
1. Constant use of Grace referring to Dominic, her husband as "my man". Really who says that?
2. Dominic referring to his mistress as "my mistress". Seriously, who does that? Just say her name. I started rolling my eyes whenever either phrase was muttered.
Yes, these are petty grievances but the book was so predictable. I don't want to include any spoilers, but that epilogue...come on!
I think my love for psychological thrillers has led me to be a bit critical of the not-so-good ones. This book is getting rave reviews so obviously, I'm in the minority and I hope others feel like the majority and enjoy this book. The only saving grace was that it's short and a quick read!

Grace comes home early one night and find her husband, Dominic, in his cabin with a younger woman. They are caught in the act. The only thing Grace can think to do in her shock is to lock the cabin door.

My 1st Daniel Hurst and my god I
will be reading more and
recommending this author. I like going through her history.
Enjoyed the characters each
having own chapter. Grace hates cheaters so when she finds her husband Dominic cheating on her in his cabin she locks him and the mistress in. I really enjoyed the flow of this books as it hits well.
Dominic and his mistress are now trapped in his cabin stark naked.
Grace has done this before but what's she going to do now. We divide deep into her past throughout this story. She done this to another cheat in her past.
Futhermore the narration by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bate was very enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley and the
publisher for this ARC, in exchange
for my honest opinion.

What an amazing psychological thriller that just had me wanting more!! I loved the psychological aspect and quite literally it was like we were in the minds of a psychopath! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading more from this author!!
4.5 ⭐ Wowza!!
"The Couple In The Cabin" is riveting, I was sampling a few chapters as I was listening to another book at the time. Before I knew it, I was half done and had to force myself to put it down!
Grace comes home to find another woman's bra on the sofa, close by her husband's clothes. Dominic thought she was out of town for another night and brought home his mistress! They're nowhere to be seen in the main house. She suspects they're in his cabin/office in the back garden.
Oh, it stung when she caught both of them naked in the cabin. She decided to lock them inside and burned their !*#& in the fire pit and turned off the heater. The cabin was super reinforced for security so that it couldn't be broken in, and neither could they get out.
A lot of twists and a super fast pace. I didn't want this one to end! I would not have guessed the plotline and how this will play out.
What took me so long to try this author? I had my eyes on "The Passenger" since it came out but never committed to it. Haha, I get nervous when I see a lady on a train. 😉 Well, it's now on my TBR and I can't wait to read it.
The audiobook is superb and enjoyable, read by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates for two different PoVs.

They’ll do anything to get out. She’ll do anything to keep them in.
When happily married Grace comes home early one night and catches her husband, Dominic, with another woman in the cabin at the bottom of their garden, she is shocked, angry, and most of all, hell-bent on revenge. That’s why she acts quickly, locking the pair in the cabin while she decides what she wants to do to them.
While Dominic and his mistress desperately try to get free, Grace makes a plan on the outside, but it’s a plan that is formed based on her previous experiences. That’s because this might not be the first time Grace has done something like this…
Who is the real villain? The cheating husband? Or the vengeful wife?
My Opinion
I listened to this as an audiobook narrated by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates. With many plot twists this was such an great psychological thriller. It is a relatively short book so the plot wasn't drawn out in any way but there was just so much going on. Both narrators did a fantastic job with this book and made it so enjoyable that I didn't want to stop listening.
A highly recommended read that may just put you off building an office in your garden.
Rating 4/5
I was so amazed after reading this book. So many twists and turns I couldn't see coming. I loved how this completely kept me gripped the entire time. I had to read this in one sitting as I just HAD to see how the story unfolded. Loved the suspense and build up throughout the story. Truly beautiful writing style by Daniel Hurst. It keeps you mesmerized and eager to see what's around every turn and corner. This is a must read!
I received this book by NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.
Grace's husband has built an impenetrable cabin as his work place in the garden area --> when Grace finds him with his lover, what does she do? Easy - she just locks both of them in that cabin - cuts off power supply to the heater, burns each and everything of that other woman as well as everything that her husband owned
Grace knows she finds it thrilling to trap people and release them as per her wish. The twists and turns were good.
The fast paced aspects in this book was really well written, and the narration by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates was enjoyable too.
thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst & Bookouture Audio for approving the audio ARC in exchange for honest review.
Upon her arrival at home, unannounced, Grace finds her beloved husband in the arms of his young lover. In her angry state, she locks the lovers in the cabin.
Great idea of the plot, however, the writing and presentation were a bit unnatural. At times it felt forced and overstated. Great set of characters followed by a fast and smooth flow of the storyline. I look forward to Daniel Hurst's new novels in the future.
Thank you, NetGalley for a free and advanced copy of the novel in the exchange for my honest review.
Listened to this in one sitting! I was totally engaged and kept trying to guess what was going on. I loved the twists in the plot and the ending! That's an epilogue done right!! Love Daniel Hurst's style of writing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC, in exchange for my honest opinion.
I’ve read a couple by Daniel Hurst and enjoyed them, this had the same qualities I like- pacing, entertaining storyline, fun twists and turns as well as nicely written characters. I listened to the audio version and the narrators were great, I highly recommend this one!

I wasn't too sure about this audiobook when I first requested an advanced listening copy but was pleased I did, as the listening experience was wonderful!
Grace and Dominic, the protagonists, it was difficult to choose who I disliked the most. I listened to this story in one sitting. The narrators were excellent and their voices made it so easy to connect to the characters. I enjoyed the storyline, which I could picture in my head as I listened. Great characters, especially Frank, Grace & Dominic's next door neighbour and fabulously narrated by Matt Bates. In my head, I was standing right next to the characters! I enjoyed my listening experience throughout this audiobook.
I give a 4-star rating and I would recommend this audiobook.
I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF LISTENING TO AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS AUDIOBOOK FOR AN HONEST REVEIW
A riveting twisty novel. Just when I thought it was getting stale the author introduces a twist and I'm glad I carried on. The narrator's Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates are excellent narrator's I will keep an eye out for them in the future.
I received this audiobook from Bookouture audio and Netgalley for a review.
When Grace arrives home early one night to surprise her husband, it is she who is surprised when she catches him with another woman in the cabin by her house. Unsure how she wants to play the scene, Grace locks the door, trapping Dominic and his mistress inside. But how long can she keep them there?
I wasn't sure where this book was going to go but after listening, I will say that I did not expect that! This was an easy to read entertaining book that kept me riveted throughout. I was intrigued to see how far Grace would go before the ending hit. Perfect narration and a great storyline - you can't go wrong with this audiobook.
Having read one previous book by this author I was excited to listen to the audio version of The Couple in the Cabin.
Longtime couple Dominic and Grace have been married for years. Dominic recently built a cabin in the back garden for him to work in. The cabin was expensive and is highly secure.
Grace unexpectedly arrives home from what was to have been a overnight gathering to find her husband in the cabin with another woman. What does any normal woman do at this point. Lock them in the cabin of course.
I did wonder how an entire book could be written around a couple locked in a cabin, but it was and it was good.
Told in the point of view of Grace and Dominic, the past is slowly revealed and we begin to understand a little more why Grace would lock them in the cabin.
Interesting if not likeable characters, interesting background of the couple and an urge to get to the end kept me listening. The narrators did a great job with the characters.
Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the arc
A woman comes home to see her husband in his man cave cheating on her. So what does she do? She locks the two of them in. I really enjoyed the story on this one but the writing style wasn’t really for me. The story itself holds your attention and you’re hopeful she releases the two at the end. The story was also told in the point of view of the woman and the man.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Bookouture Audio, for making this audio-ARC of The Couple in the Cabin available to me for a fair and honest review. This was my first Daniel Hurst book and it certainly will not be my last.
Grace returns home early from a business trip, only to find her husband cheating on her with another woman in the cabin in the garden. In a state of shock, she locks them in the cabin to take stock of the situation. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and events spiral. The story moves along at a pace alternating between Dominic’s and Grace’s point of view and very quickly becomes a rollercoaster ride.
I listened to this in two sittings - It was brilliantly narrated by Eilidh Beaton and Matt Bates who both really bought the book to life.

This is only my third Daniel Hurst. I liked this one best!
Grace and Dominic have been married for ten years or so and both have good jobs, lovely home with a garden back yard. Dominic wanted a quiet place to work and decides he wants a cabin aka ‘man cave’ and the perfect spot is at the bottom of their garden. This cabin is expensive to build as Dominic wants it to be comfortable and secure so that he can feels safe in leaving any important work documents around.
One evening Grace come back home early from a business meeting where she is supposed to stay the night. She finds Dominic’s clothes as well as a bra in the living room. She searches the house for Dominic and the braless woman and pleased they are not in the bedroom. Grace checks and finds more clothes and decides she needs to check the cabin. Yep! No surprise. She finds them. She is so irate. Remembering that the cabin is extra secure she locks them in.
I had a hard time at first with the story ~ these characters were not all that likeable.
But Grace has me curious and we soon learn of her past.
I was cheering near the - I am sure you will as well!!
The narrators did a great job in performing these characters!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for granted me to this eGalley.

Becoming involved with a younger woman and then getting caught by your wife was always going to be problematic but being married to the enigmatic Grace, meant the ending would be particularly traumatic.
Dominic, a middle-aged man, enters into a fraught, sexual love affair with a much younger woman before realising too late, how relentless his wife can be as she exacts revenge on the pair. As her past becomes unravelled, the reader is drawn into a maelstrom of misery and murder.
Listening to this audiobook had me tearing through the chapters one after another with bated breath and I wasn’t disappointed at the end.
Thanks so much to the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review The Couple in the Cabin.
I sped through this audiobook and really enjoyed the pace of it. The main character Grace was quite mental although on finding her husband in his man cave cabin at the back of the garden, in the throes of passion with his mistress is enough to send anyone over the edge.
After she locks them in we then follow her in her plan for revenge. It was good to also hear from the husband, Dominic's viewpoint too.
The backstory is well developed although I don't think we needed to hear as much from ten year old Grace as we did but despite that I thought it was an excellent read with a good few twists thrown in.
This is my second book by Daniel Hurst and I wouldn't hesitate to read another.
