A quick read but there was a lot of repetition in the story. . Some good twists, so worth a read
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC

Thank you for the chance to read and review this book.
I haven’t read for a few months, as the last two books I started reading just didn’t inspire me, and actually put me off reading. So, this book had it’s work cut out.!
It turned out to be just what I needed - easy to get into, easy to read, and suspense to keep me going. I did guess some of the twists, but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of continuing to the end.
Thank you for getting me back into reading again.

A gripping thriller with unexpected twists and a feeling of doom! It will keep you hooked until the end!
Bella asks Jack for some time apart, leaving a message on his voicemail. She had previously been kidnapped by Lawrence, who has recently been released from prison. Now, she is being held again against her will. How has history repeated itself?
The plot twists and turns from past to present, as Bella's terror has her questioning her grip on reality.
Although a bit repetitive, the book shows her fear and the terror that it happened again. How will Bella escape?
It's great for thriller fans, with a powerful ending!

Bella and Rosie had a wonderful childhood with their parents at the farmhouse originally built by their grandparents.
Then Bella went to college where a crazed stalker changed the course of her life forever.
Nineteen years later he is released from jail and seems to want to carry on from where he left off; but only Bella sees what is happening.
The authorities are tired of her obviously false claims but at least her husband, Jack, is supportive of her fragile condition.
Or is he?
The final major twist in this book is so twisted that I didn't see it coming and it is a shocking turn in this wonderful story.
A great read.

Bella was stalked and held captive when she was younger. Her attacker is now getting out of prison. things start happening and she is being stalked again. Can anyone help her? But who is the stalker? Thought it was kind of drawn out so skipped around a lot. but did not see the ending coming at all. Geez can you trust anyone in your life?

Bella and Jack seem to have it all, nice house in the country that Bella's parents had given them when they downsized as they got older, 2 teenage children .However there is one thing from the past that keeps haunting Bella , she had been kept a prisoner in the basement of this house some years earlier. This was by an ex-boyfriend( Lawrence Knox) who she finished with whilst at University, and returned home to avoid him.
Lawrence has just been released from prison and strange things start to affect Bella ,all linked to Lawrence..Everybody tries to convince her she is imaging things as he has a restraining order against him and his probation officers say he has not left Leeds where he is staying. The children go away on separate holidays over the weekend and Jack gets a text message from Bella saying not to come home as she needs time alone to think, so he books in to an hotel for a few days.
One terrifying day Bella is attacked and again put in the basement, tied to a chair and gagged .She blames Lawrence but is unable to escape from the basement. All is not what it seems as the story unfolds with many twists along the way.

Overall, an ok read with quite an unsuspected twist, which genuinely was fun!
While reading the book, it seemed rather repetitive and went over the same bits multiple times, which was a little irritating.
The twist (well, one of them) was truly a fun and unsuspected one, and the other was fun to guess! So, overall an average rating of 3 stars!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

This book was good it was a quick easy read with a good plot twist
It did leave me with so many times saying why, why this why that.
I still have a few unanswered questions. If it was me I would have not have gone back to that house at all!

Quite the page turner with a great twist at the end. Amazing how a traumatic abduction at a young age can affect a person for a lifetime. With family jealousy at play too, Bella never stood a chance. Had me on edge with irritation too at the way Bella's husband and her sister played Bella.

A good page turner which builds to a very tense climax. I knew there was going to be a twist but genuinely did not see it coming. I’ll definitely be looking out for the next book from this author. .
Highly recommended
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an advance digital copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

This book started off so well and I was super captivated! As the story went on, I slowly started to struggle due to trying to keep up with the level of characters and the tension started to slip! It had a decent level of suspense throughout the first half of the book but did start to become tedious. This storyline definitely had so much potential however I did find myself starting to skim.
Not much to say about the book as a whole apart from it is a quick read with a decent twist.

This book made me want to look over my shoulder. If you’ve ever escaped any situation from an ex you will get this book. Loved the book. Hated the way it made me feel too as it does make you realise how easy things can change or not be as you think they are

A stalker released from prison after many years. He was imprisoned for stalking Bella, now happily married with two gorgeous children.
Bella is convinced that he is back to hurt her. She sees him everywhere she goes. Is she going mad?
Alone for a weekend she tries to face her fear but, is the threat closer to home than she thinks?

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Weekend Alone" The plot was full of unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The pace was fast-paced, and I couldn't put it down - I finished it in just a few evenings. I found myself fully invested in the main character, Bella, and I was rooting for her throughout the story. The author expertly captured the sense of isolation and manipulation that Bella was experiencing, and I could see that she was being gaslighted and that no one was really on her side.
One of the strengths of this book is the multiple perspectives through which the story is told, making it easy to follow and understand the different characters and their motivations. This structure added depth to the story and heightened the tension.
Overall, I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.

When I first started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. It was fast paced and within the first few chapters, I was hooked. However as the story went on, I started to loose interest as the chapters became very descriptive and a little predictable. The characters all seemed to need attention from the start but with little knowledge as to why. However, how wrong was I as I continued to read. I'm so glad I always stick to the motto of "I've started so I'll finish". Great turn in the story and away we went again! Cracking quick read.
Thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for my Arc, in return of an honest review.

Bella is married to Jack & they have two children. Bella loves her life but there was an incident in her past that affected her future - as a young woman she was stalked & kidnapped by an ex who held her prisoner in the basement of her parents' house. Her parents & sister had gone away on holiday & none of them knew that Bella's ex was hiding out in their home waiting to take her captive. Her ex was sent to prison but he has recently been released & now Bella feels as if she is being watched. She starts to see her captor everywhere but everyone tells her that it is all in her head. When her children go away on short planned breaks, Bella leaves a message for her husband on his mobile telling him not to come home that weekend. Does Bella just need a break from the stress or is something more sinister going on?
I started reading this & quickly began wondering why a certain character, knowing full well what Bella went through before, would be at such pains to disbelieve her? I had an idea why & well, it turned out that I was right. In fact it's quite an obvious twist, but you know what, it doesn't matter. Even though you know what's ahead, it's still a gripping read. The chapters are quite short, it's got a very fast pace, & the tension builds nicely. It was well worth sticking with. 3.5 stars (rounded up)
My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, HQ Digital, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

This was everything you need for a thriller and crime story. It is not as black and white as you first think and like most typical thrillers, is full of twists. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
3.5/5.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.
Nineteen years ago, Bella was held captive in her family's basement by Lawrence Knox, her stalker.
He is now out of prison, and Bella has never felt so unsafe. She has been telling her family for weeks about strange going-ons, and sightings, but no one believes her...
She sees him everywhere she goes, but will soon find out danger may be closer to home than she thinks…
Wow, what a great book to start the new year! The Weekend Alone is fast-paced with plenty of cliffhangers and twists, which kept me hostage until the last page.
The Weekend Alone is mostly told from Bella's point of few, as well as some insights from her husband Jack.
We also see multiple timelines - now, plus the weeks leading up to now, which helps to build up the story.
Both Bella and Jack engaging narrators, though Bella comes across as unreliable due to her fragile, slightly neurotic state of mind.
The plot is well-timed with plenty of unexpected twists coming with a bang at the right moment. A great psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

The Weekend Alone is a quick read with plenty of unexpected twists and turns that kept me gripped from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my ARC.

I enjoyed The Weekend Alone by Jacqueline Grima, who is a new author for me. I found this to be a fast paced and twisty thriller that had me gripped from the first chapter.
The writing style makes this an easy read, with the chapters flowing between Bella and Jack, present and recent past. There were some great twists too which I didn't see until the reveal.
I would definitely recommend this book to physiological thriller fans.
