Special thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. 'The Necklace' was a fast and quick paced book however the interchanging chapters and storylines were very confusing at first. They needed more backstory to make the story flow and be understood better.

“The Necklace” by Jim Fairfax reaches out and pulls you in immediately. Twists, turns and a story that grabs your attention from the get go. You don’t know what to expect. Make sure you cancel all your plans and focus primarily on reading this book and only reading this book. Order in, cuddle under a cozy blanket, have a nice cup of tea of class of wine - whatever you prefer. You’ll thank me later.

A well plotted and fast paced thriller that I liked. The multiple subplots and POVs made it more interesting and it kept me on the edge and guessing till the end.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Such a cleverly written book and I did have to focus to keep up with all the characters and interwoven plots until it started to come together a bit. It is really well plotted out to have these alternate storyline all coexisting and converging. The characters were well written although I did have some questions about their motivations and such but it's a standalone so how well can ever be introduced to a character in a single book to be fair?! Loved the twists and turns, a really decent thriller with quite an original premise

Retired children’s television show host Stewart Bingham (and his puppet, Neddy) are called upon to do a prime-time interview. He was lured out of his complacent life by his agent Penny Grainger, who feels incredibly guilty she booked Stewart for the interview when he is killed, on a busy London street, in broad daylight. She refuses to accept the police’s account of a robbery gone wrong, and decides to look into Stewart’s murder herself, especially once she finds out she is his beneficiary. Meanwhile, British Secret Service Agent Dom Stephens is called upon to surveil his old friend, Dima, who is back in the U.K. for what must be criminal activity. When Penny and Dom cross paths, they end up working together to stop the plan Dima and his agents have in place to destroy the British government.

I liked this book, and quickly became accustomed to the interchanging chapters/storylines, although I didn’t feel they quite flowed together seamlessly, as it was quite choppy in places. Some of the important characters lacked backstory; it would have been interesting to read about their motivations, who they were, and why some of the agents “switched sides,” like Dom, for example. Also, the standoff between one of Dima’s agents and Penny seemed unbelievable from the start. Why in the world would a woman with no means of self-defense (a cell phone?) rush in to a secluded meeting site, hoping to see her friend’s killer without even mentioning the meeting to the police? While I will say that I figured out Stewart’s murderer, I didn’t see the curve with Tim until the reveal. I found the husband and wife team who were unknowingly on two different sides to be amusing, and I thought the cryptogram clues were a clever twist on the coded messages spies use to communicate, and enjoyed solving them.

I’d like to thank NetGalley, Tim Fairfax, and Cranthorpe Millner Publishing for the ability to read and review this ARC.
