This is the kind of book you may pick up again and again.
It’s a short book but it manages to inspire and console.

I do recommend.

"Reasons to Be Hopeful: What Remains Consoling, Inspiring, and Beautiful", is compiled by an organization calling themselves The School of Life. This book strives to encourage its readers that there's plenty to be hopeful about. This book is divided into three sections: reasons of darkness, reasons of detachment, and reasons of light. Through famous artwork and inspirational essays, readers are encouraged to look for the good things in life.

I'm not a big fan of art, so this book didn't speak to me as much as it might to others. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Written by The School of Life, this little book of essays is a fascinating exploration of why we may feel utterly hopeless, seeing no reason to go on and how our perceptions and reactions shape the way we react. It then exhorts us to seek out and appreciate several reasons to be hopeful.
Accompanied by relevant illustrations and photographs the writing is not preachy or mushy but leads you firmly but gently through the ideas and sentiments. We meet artists and philosophers, scientists and long dead emperors and realise that we should never feel alone in our abyss. In the end we are all wired to march in the same parade without end and our part is minuscule in the general scheme of things. The little things are sometimes all we need…soft cheese, friends, a new dawn and wonder that “the world remains full of giraffes”
Thanks to Netgalley for the advance digital copy that gave me plenty to ponder and a stronger sense of resiliency and comfort.

Reasons to Be Hopeful was not at all what I expected. Using pictures from history and interesting artwork, the book provides a wide variety of examples for things that bring hope to this world.

Broken into three sections- reasons of darkness, reasons of detachment and reasons of light-it affirms that suffering is part of the human condition, it is a necessary part of life, and when we know this we can find simple and great pleasures in life that make it all worthwhile.

Thanks to NetGalley and The School of Life for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Quick read but such a thoughtful book exploring different ways of being hopeful through different avenues like philosophy, beautiful art and scientific reasons. I loved this and gave me good insight to stay hopeful and keep pushing on in this crazy journey we call life. Beautifully written with so many things to give everyone their own experience with this book no matter what you're into.

This a brief, thought-provoking book about the reasons we can all may have to be hopeful. Many reasons are introduced with the help of original art or artifacts (e.g., Freud's porcupine). This slim book is not a list of coping strategies, but a philosophical journey through the issues and challenges that with careful examination could give us all reasons to stay hopeful.

Reasons to Be Hopeful
What remains consoling, inspiring, and beautiful
by The School of Life
An exploration of the many reasons to remain hopeful in the face of life's disappointments and challenges. I went into this book with an " I will see", as I had a heavy soul...and I did indeed see, reasons to be hopeful a tone that avoids the pitfalls of sentimentality and cynicism, the book urges us to reconnect with our more resilient selves, bidding us to recover faith in what is still possible. At points funny and always encouraging and kind, here is an ideal friend to guide us back to courage and delight.
Not a usual preachy, norm, but even reasons to smile, laugh and let the hope in. Just a wonderful book in which I felt blessed to receive an advance copy
