I had a really hard time with this book. I couldn't understand where the narrative was beginning or ending or what was happening, and it never pulled me in.

I don’t think the narration was for me. I enjoyed the story and all the components but didn’t quite hit home. Will keep an eye on this author.

I LOVED this book. I did this as an audiobook, and the accents added something incredible to overall feeling of this book. Daniel and Olivia met a the bottom of the world and despite the unlikeliness of their compatibility there is a connection. They are ships passing in the fog, that occasionally find their way back into each others orbits. Through the early years of finding themselves right out of school and navigating careers and discovering who they are capable of being. The story flashes between the present and the past. Olivia has been diagnosed with cancer and rather than watch Daniel struggle to save her from an inevitable loss, she begs him to write their love story. As the daughter, who lost a parent to cancer, this story brought up emotions for me, but I loved it none the less. Its beautifully written and the characters are vibrant and full of life. This is a love story full of passion and heart, love and laughter. The only thing that I wish I would have closure on is the Anabelle of it all. This book was an enthusiastic yes, read!!

“Maybe the grim reaper doesn’t wear a hood and a cloak, maybe he’s so bland and nondescript they don’t see death looming at all.”

The story switches back and forth between multiple timelines: the main story follows Olivia and Daniel, as a married couple with two young daughters, navigating Olivia’s ongoing brain tumors and sickness, and the secondary story recounts their lives up until that point, starting with when they first met. It felt similar to The Notebook in that way, including the narrative that the husband is retelling their love story, in this case as a future reference for his kids.
The author does a wonderful job giving each of the characters a full fleshed out story with intricate and complex relationships that make the characters feel real and unique. The narrator also does a phenomenal job bringing them all to life, and does stellar with the variety of accents.
This title was labelled under Romance and Women’s Fiction. Going into the story having read the plot blurb and with those genre labels in mind, I expected a very different story. I also think that had the book been labelled Literary Fiction, I might have thought different of it. It is very detailed about their lives to a poetic degree, and though arguably the romance of it all is the life that they lived alongside each other, it does not leave you feeling happy and joyful about their love, at any point throughout the story. In some instances, the added detail feels like it’s dragging the story out, rather than filling in with crucial detail.

Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Egmont Audio for providing me with an audio-arc of this title.

This was a touching story about a man penning his love story of him and his wife, while she is dying from cancer. Switching between past and present, the reader is shown how the two meet and get together, which ultimately has you getting invested into the book. I really enjoyed the narration on the audio, I do however think this book could've been shorter.

Pick this book up if you are in the mood to cry, I listened right after watching a walk to remember and I have many regrets. But listening to this audio was not one of them .

The Night we Met tells the heartbreaking story of Daniel and Olivia- tracing their relationship from the first night they met, through many of life's trials and tribulations, to their final moments together.

The story opens with Daniel doting on Olivia at her deathbed and soon becomes Daniel's efforts to write their love story for their daughters to read when Olivia is gone. If that isn't enough to pull you in and break your heart, the story of Daniel and Olivia's chance meeting in Australia through to their present day will do the trick.

This was my first experience with an audiobook, and I will admit that I struggled with it, but: I was so intrigued by the storyline I sought out a paperback copy and finished reading the book. I adored it. I loved the adventure aspect of Daniel and Olivia's early days, there was tragedy to pull at your heartstrings, but there were also beautiful 'life moments' that were relatable and personal.

I would recommend this story to lovers of fiction, a great love story and emotional reads.

Zoe Folbigg is one to watch out for. She's not shared enough and her books are incredible. This audio narration was fantastic and anything Zoe puts out in the future, I'll be buying. She's a top fave for me. I interviewed her on my Amazon Live show and she is fascinating and an amazing author. The Night We Met is just the beginning for her.

Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Egmont audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.

This is a beautifully written but definitely not light and fluffy romance. Daniel and Olivia have seemingly been brought together by fate, Fate, or Daniel’s tenacity in finding the young woman who captured his heart whilst their paths repeatedly crossed on their travels. Now at 43 years of age Olivia is dying. The life they shared together is coming to an end and Olivia needs Daniel to write their love story for their 2 daughters. I must be honest, I didn’t fully connect with the characters for the majority of the book. I was beginning to think I was cast from stone and emotionless. But I loved side character Jim, but still, just like that, they got me! By the end I was sobbing.

"I'll write it as a love letter to her. No, I'll write it to the girls."

So begins Daniel and Olivia's love story as told to their two daughters of how Daniel met Olivia...no saw Olivia. He saw her before he met her. He loved her before they ever spoke. As he traveled the world he would spot her in "obscure corners" around the world. If ever two people were destined to meet, to love, to live together it was Daniel and Olivia. They did all three except the last one, to live, that was cut short but the love was forever.

The heartbreaking The Night We Met written with such tender care by thoughtful author Zoe Folbigg lets us know from the beginning that Olivia is sick through a past and present timeline that is artfully done so that the transitions are seamless.

I wish I could give a hug to narrator Charlotte Worthing because the tears flowed as she became Daniel wanting only to love the woman he loved from first sight and having to be strong for his daughters. I completely lost it as Olivia fought everyday for her husband, her girls and her life.

Some have compared this to the iconic books Love Story and The Notebook but the big difference is Love Story is about lost love at the beginning and The Notebook is about lost love at the end but The Night We Met is right in the middle with real life problems like job commitments, unruly teenage kids, and crazy inlaws and the loss of your one and only partner.

I know many might shy away from the sadness of this romance but there is so much more to experience. The laughter, the adventure, the backpack traveling and most of all the love. You won't regret listening because Daniel and Olivia definitely didn't regret The Night We Met.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Saga Egmont Audio via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Olivia and Daniel keep crossing paths after initially meeting in Australia, albeit very briefly, and after years of bumping into each other they finally come together and start their lives as a couple. They go through the good times and some really tough but their relationship stays strong throughout. And then Olivia suffers an accident and they find out she has a brain tumour. She wants their daughters to know their story, how they fell in love and the stories of their life together as a family.

This was narrated beautifully, the characters were distinct and the timelines didn’t get too complicated which I find is quite common wit( audiobooks.

The story was enthralling, both heartwarming and heart wrenching, truly a fantastic love story through the years. The time hops really brought their love to life and I really felt like I was along for the ride with them. The ending truly gutted me and it was handled so well. As were the tough subjects mentioned throughout the book, it was just so tender. I don’t tend to re-read a book but I think this would be a truly enjoyable read, over and over again. Bravo!

The Night We Met by Zoë Folbigg is a nice story. The idea of having a spouse write your love story for your children is a beautiful concept.

I love multiple timelines. However, only a past and present would have sufficed; the in-between timeline was unnecessary and upset the flow of the book. I was never able to get invested when unsure things in the past happened because I knew the outcome from having already heard some of the future. Also, I didn't like that new characters were just dumped into the story without an introduction as to who they are until the following chapter. It led to confusion because I had to stop and think who the person is and who they are to the story only to later realize we were never told.

I loved also enjoyed the casual reminiscence of the introduction of technology to our society. It was nice to relive that time period to appreciate how far we've come.

Charlotte Worthing was wonderful to listen to. I really liked her voice.

Overall, I give The Night We Met 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I devoured this book and absolutely adored it. Beware though, you will sob! There really just aren’t the words to explain how this book will crawl into your heart

This book was devastatingly sad and all too real. It follows the story of Daniel and Olivia, a young couple who no matter what, always find a way back to each other. This book is sweet and romantic but will also tear your heart in two. These two are the definition of soulmates.

I loved recounting their story. All the coincidences made it evident that they were meant to be. Daniel was enamored from first sight however unbelievable. I did find myself wondering why Daniel was so attracted to Olivia because each time he interacted with her, she didn't show a very attractive side of herself in my opinion. I guess that fact just reinforces that they were made for each other.

The story itself is more beautiful than it is sad. It details a very real side of life that we, as humans, tend to want to avoid acknowledging. No matter the tears I shed, I don't regret reading it and I would recommend it to people who like a good cry now and then. It puts life into perspective and teaches the lesson that you should never take it for granted.

The narration on the audio was great and I loved listening, however the only downside I had was that maybe the book was a little too long. If you aren't in the mood for a sad book, I'd recommend shelving this one for later but when you feel like a good cry, definitely pick this one up.

Thank you Saga Egmont Audio for this great audio.

I am in the moodnto read ficiton but this seemed really real. It made me feel so sad and happy. And that was the great thing about it.

It is a story of a couple, how they meet. They connect they do wild things and they simply fall in love.

And there is something that happens after 20 years noone excpect. And the dark comes. I felt lost but the main character was so strong I have no words how to describe everything.

I know that everything starts also ends. Thatvis life. And this was also a warm story of love, life not just lost.

I adored the think they traveled so much and had different stories behind. I felt so home when the italian language was used. Tender.
