Thank you so much to NetGalley and Electric Monkey for the advance reader copy.

I absolutely adored the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series and didn't think that Holly Jackson could top it, but here it is. I loved this book even more than the series. This book was so suspenseful and had a completely different setting to her previous series which really distinguished it from being too similar.

I thought that the RV setting was fun and it was a really smart way to tell a story. I can't wait to see what Holly Jackson puts out next.

A group of six friends on a road trip are trapped inside when the RV breakdown unexpectedly. To their surprise, they realize there's a sniper out there waiting to kill one of them who knows a secret. Only FIVE will survive.

This is a great read if you love locked room mysteries, and YA Thrillers this is the book for you, there’s a lot of suspense and you will be kept guessing throughout.

The plot was very original, The main character Red and the other characters were all good characters but one of the characters had this whole toxic masculinity thing going on which I didn’t like.

I did find the first 30% of this book quite slow but when the action kicked off it got better. But there wasn’t enough for me to keep me engaged and felt quite long for a thriller. I had figured out how it was going to end but it’s hard to fool a crime junkie.

Overall a good read and I can see a lot of people enjoying this especially if you are new to thrillers this would be great.

Five friends are travelling in America in an RV when suddenly a tyre blows, except, it’s been shot out!

The five are trapped and realise the sniper will only release them when they tell a secret. This is a tense, suspenseful read that maintains it’s hold throughout. There were some glaring gaps in the storyline, but, overall an enjoyable, solid, good read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to preview.

Thank you for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved A Good Girls Guide to Murder and was so excited to get the opportunity to read and review this new book by Holly Jackson. I found the first part of this book a little difficult to get into. I think mainly because it took me a bit of time to figure out the six main characters as we set the scene and learn about the dynamics of their relationships and who’s who. However once I had that sorted I was absolutely gripped by the story and could not put this book down. I flew through the second half of the book and loved the intrigue and mystery of unraveling the motives of the characters.

I LOOOOOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK.

Oh my gOD, it has been a while since I've been 110% invested in a story and knew from the start that I would give a book five stars.

BUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT HOLLY?! Does she say "Yes"??, what were the patterns on the curtain in the end?? WHO ELSE VOTED YES.

I have so many questions but I love that. I love how we won't know because it just adds to the mystery and makes you think about the book even days later.

I wasn't able to SLEEP. My heart was racing the whole time. Who don't know who to root for or who you want to die. The BETRAYAL was a kick to the stomach honestly. I didn't see it coming.

What an absolute masterpiece of a thriller. I want to read this again.

FIVE SURVIVE is Jackson’s fourth mystery book, and it delivered just as the previous three had.

Red, and five of her friends, decide to go on an RV trip across America to get to their holiday destination for Spring Break. The first half of the trip goes perfectly fine, but when night falls and roads all start looking similar, one wrong turn sends them into their worst possible nightmare. They stop in an empty road, pitch black except for the stars above their heads. A tire gets blown out, presumably because of sharp rock on the road. But, as soon as they fit the spare tire onto the RV, all four wheels are shot out, and it becomes increasingly obvious that they’re not alone, and that someone wants them dead.

While I wouldn’t say I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder series, it was still extremely enjoyable. This book was different in a lot of ways from AGGGTM, and it helped that Red was so different from Pip. Red was a shy, nervous and sometimes sweet main character, who was equally both frustrating and intriguing to follow. Intriguing because she had a unique way of viewing the world, with her shyness coming out even in her internal monologue, and her constantly second guessing herself until she was able to stand up for herself when it mattered. Frustrating because sometimes she didn’t stand up for herself, and I found myself wanting to yell at her to do something! But, with a character like Red, that was to be expected, and I enjoyed reading as she found her footing throughout the course of the book.

The prose on this book intrigued me, because it was disjointed yet descriptive in a way I haven’t seen in a while. Red constantly forgot things, and then would bring them up many chapters later. She questioned herself, she questioned her opinions, she tried to do what people told her to even if she didn’t believe it was right, and this was all reflected in a prose that matched her personality perfectly, which altered as she grew, until it was stronger and clearer than it had been at the start. When it comes to reading—and especially reviewing—I’ve been finding myself more and more interested in the prose rather than just the story, in the way the prose can really make or break a novel. And with this prose, it pulled me in, and I felt that it really reflected who Red was as a person, which I don’t think a lot of books do. It was a hard book to put down.

FIVE SURVIVE took place within eight hours, so not even a single day. Less than that. And you could feel every minute of this eight hours, every tense moment and every shocking moment that tore everything you thought you already knew away from you. It was intense, it was dramatic, it was gut-wrenching and anger inducing. (There is one character I particularly hate, and when you read, I think you’ll figure out who it is fairly quickly and understand exactly why I hate them.) This book pulls you in every single direction and expects you to keep up. It truly was a whirlwind and I can’t wait to own a physical copy.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t even know where to begin but firstly thanks to Netgalley for sending me an early ebook copy of this bc I was honestly dying to get my hands on it.
After the exceptional AGGGTM trilogy I had very high expectations to the point where I was worried this book wouldn’t live up to them but damn I don’t know why I was worried. This book was everything I wanted. I was gripped from the very beginning. The concept of the book itself was very promising and Holly Jackson never misses. She has such a brilliant way of writing where she quite literally and effortlessly captures your entire attention.
The plot was brilliant but the plot twists????? I never saw anything coming (as I never do with a Holly Jackson book) and as usual, all the theories I had were entirely wrong and it was something I’d not even thought of.
I have to say, this book was probably a lot more intense than AGGGTM and those were pretty intense and although it took me a little bit of time getting used to all the characters, I absolutely loved how in-depth we found out about each one of the six friends.
Also I thought AGGGTM was going to be a stand-alone but it turned into a trilogy so I’m wondering if this is also going to have a sequel too?? Honestly though, I’d love anything Holly Jackson writes. She has yet to write a book that didn’t have me awake at odd hours, my eyes glued to the pages.

WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK! A Good Girls Guide to Murder was an incredible series and so I was super hyped for this and I was not disappointed!

I did think the beginning was a little bit slow but I was in a small slump so that was probably the reason why however it did not effect the rest of the book for me!

There was one character who drove me absolutely insane and I wish there was a little bit more to them in the end but nonetheless, very happy with how the book ended!

"I am good at everything. Except being humble"

I was so looking forward to read the new Holly Jackson's book. And even though it wasn't an all consuming love like the one I had with AGGGTM, I still enjoyed it very much.
In pure Jackson's fashion we have a fast pacing book full of plot twists that have plot twists. I read it in like 8 hours. Which, I guess was fitting with the story lol.
I think the only thing that threw me off a little is how unbelievable was the situation at times. I couldn't avoid the comparison with AGGGTM that was so convincing it could have been a true crime documentary on Netflix.

Still, I recommend it if you are looking for a fast paced thriller, something that keeps you hooked to the pages until you finally find out what's going on, this one's for you.

Such a captivating book full of twists and turns. I could not put this one down. The characters weren’t as lovable as pip and Ravi but the storyline was just as good. I loved it!

I'm going to be honest this wasn't really for me. It hung together well and the story did all the twists and turns I expected it would but I struggled a bit with the main character and the setting. That said I can tell you exactly the sort of teen I could sell this to who would love it

Here we have another case of 'I accused the correct person, but made the most outrageous accusations and connected my own dots that definitely were not there.'

From the very first chapter, the story was eerie and suspenseful, the confinement of the rv setting really helped portray the intensity, coupled with the vague, distracted character of Red.

Whilst Red and Oliver were both strongly developed characters, there wasn't as much focus on the other friends in the rv and at times I forgot who was who, until the story reached the peak and the characters had more individual roles.

The story was fast paced, and well plotted, the most insignifant seeming details had huge importance in the story and I loved that. There were multiple twists that I didn't expect that made the book more fun.

Overall, this was one of the most well crafted thrillers I have read in a while, and cannot wait to own a copy and force everyone I know to also read it.

I had mixed feelings about this stand-alone, possibly YA thriller, which is the first book I've read from Holly Jackson. Five Survive follows six friends who get into an RV for a long road trip from Philadelphia to the Gulf Coast, hoping to celebrate high school graduation. However, things go wrong when they break down in the middle of nowhere, none of their phones have any service, and they realise there's a sniper shooting at them. One of them won't survive the night... but which one? And why have they been targeted and held hostage?

I was hoping for something along the lines of Riley Sager's silly but compelling Survive the Night, and to be fair, Five Survive absolutely delivered. After a slow couple of chapters, it's gripping, and I loved the atmospheric setting, as the group shelter in the RV and try and figure out how to evade the sniper. And while I often become frustrated with thrillers that deliver 'shocking' twists for the sake of having twists, ignoring any kind of narrative logic, Five Survive avoids this trap. Jackson manages to deliver a good number of twists while dropping breadcrumbs that hint at the final resolution, when everything comes together in a rather satisfying way (though be prepared to suspend disbelief).

Why the mixed feelings, then? In short, I found the whole cast intensely irritating, with the sole exception of Reyna - and this was probably just because she had less screen-time than the others. For the first half of the novel, Red's narrative voice came close to spoiling the reading experience. I wanted to like her, and I appreciate that Jackson was probably trying to show the impact of trauma by closely following her scattergun attention span and obsessive thoughts, but this didn't work for me. In this kind of novel, I really want a practical, capable protagonist, and Red makes some dodgy decisions in the first half of the book that are backed up by authorial fiat, but would probably go wrong in real life. She comes into her own far more in the second half of the book, but I found it hard to overcome this bad first impression. I also thought the group dynamics were rather simplistic, with Oliver presented as an uncomplicated 'bad guy', and this made the book more predictable than it should have been, as we know whatever Oliver wants is wrong.

I would recommend this book, because it's a more-than-competent thriller, and other readers clearly haven't found the characters as frustrating as I did - but I'm not sure I'd rush to pick up Jackson's next, as I felt this was saved by its premise and plotting. 3.5 stars.

This was my first experience reading a Holly Jackson book and I'm glad I gave it a chance! Five Survive is a YA thriller centered around a group of friends who, on their way to spring break, are trapped in a broken down RV. It soon transpires that there's a sniper lurking in the dark, targeting them for seemingly unknown reasons. As the whole thing is set in this RV over the span of eight hours, it's a tense and at times, claustrophobic setting. This tension unsurprisingly bubbles up throughout and, without giving too much away, revelations slowly come to light—turns out this group of friends have a lot of secrets they're keeping from each other!

As you might've guessed from the title, only five survive, so knowing that someone wasn't gonna make it by the end of the book made for a compelling read as you know the stakes are real. You naturally have your favourite characters that you're rooting for and not-so-favourites. In my case, there was one character that I really despised and hoped wouldn't survive. And whilst all this is going on, there's even a hint of a 'will they/won't they' romance that I found touching and somehow didn't feel wedged in to appease the romance fans, Overall, a well-rounded page-turner that's sure to keep you guessing!

Many thanks to Electric Monkey for providing me with a Digital Review Copy.

Due for publication at the end of November, I’m so grateful to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this before publication.
Five Survive tells a tense story where long-kept secrets come to the fore.
The story begins innocuously with a group of friends driving an RV to their spring break destination. Phone service shuts down, they have no map and soon find themselves lost. A damaged tyre seems easy enough to fix…but it soon becomes clear that they’re not alone and someone is determined that they won’t all survive.
Before we know it, the group are being shot at by a sniper. He begins to communicate with them, making it clear that someone has a secret. The question becomes, who will reveal their hidden truths first.
Once things got underway the pace was relentless. While the secret itself was actually quite apparent, it soon becomes clear that there’s a lot more to come. I was stunned by the turns taken at times, but this was the kind of read that was hard to put down.
