This was a great extract to read and I have asked for the real book for part of my Christmas present.
Compelling and enticing extract which certainly made me want to read the entire book and has me looking forward to the next.
An evident craftsman of the writing arts Peter Swanson entices the reader with powerful descriptive character and narrative development - and that from so few pages ...
Highly recommended.
This was a great extract and I would recommend it to anyone that likes sharp plots and detailed mysteries.
I didn't realise this was an extract otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Having said that, it has potential
I love a good thriller and this was great extract from the book! I can’t wait to read the entire thing, and I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for the second book next year
Oof, this extract was a killer (pun definitely intended!) I started reading before work and was so disappointed that I should have woken up earlier to get this read in one sitting! It had me hooked from the first sentence - setting up the scene, its a page turner, fast moving and yet there is a gorgeous buildup of suspense and mystery around the central characters, who seem like your average, and yet the insight into the way their minds work leave you craving more, to find out where they're taking you next. I wanted to feel bad for Ted and Lily but....some people don't need to be saved, they're the ones who bring the danger. To have the extract end where it did felt so unfair! I have added to my TBR and can't wait for the sequel to come out in 2023!! Thank you @NetGalley for the extract in exchange for an honest review.
A brilliant extract from this gritty crime thriller - I'm definitely moved to find the full book now I've read the start.
Strong characters formed in this short excerpt. and its made me want to pick up more books by Peter Swanson.
I'll publish a public review once I've read the whole book.
This is a review for the first two chapters of Peter Swansons A kind worth killing.
I'm hooked!
Ted meets a woman at the airport and devulges his story about why he wants to kill his wife, then Lily tells of an indecent assault as a 13 year old.
Interesting characters, very descriptive writing style and an entriguing plot.
Due to the reviews I'm expecting a strangers on the train style of affair to occur, so I'm off to buy the book and find out.
5* excerpt
Well that definitely whetted my appetite for more.
Interesting start to the novel and eagerly awaiting more.
This book is not my cup of tea. The story sounds interesting but I started skipping pages about 60% of the book and I only had an exclusive extract. It is too much describing of the irrelevant and not much getting on with the story.
Reading this short sample makes me not only want to finish the full novel but eagerly await the sequel out in 2023, can’t wait to see how the plot develops!
As a huge fan of Peter Swanson, I Absolutely loved this sample of his new work. Can’t wait to read the rest. His characterisation is superb and he is the master of the red herring.
A standalone psychological thriller by author Peter Swanson.
During a delay at Heathrow airport a chance meeting occurs that will change lives. Ted Severson, a wealthy businessman and fellow passenger Lily Kintner share a drink which leads to spending a night together. The pair tell each other secrets and Ted admits that he wants to kill his wife Miranda who is cheating on him. Far from being shocked, Lily tells him she would like to help him. Miranda is in a relationship with Brad Daggett, who is working on Ted and Lily’s home and somehow Ted feels he can tell this to Lily. As the novel moves on we begin to learn that Lily is quite different to the woman she at first appears and she herself is no stranger to wishing evil on people.
I enjoyed this novel and it is full of the expected twists and turns and dodgy characters but maybe a little too predictable. But I am willing to accept that because it was an enjoyable read and would round up to a 4 star rating.
Aww I need more!!! Such a good sample. The writing style just flows and the narrative feels so natural and realistic. There's very little even happening in this sample and yet, the writing style still socks you in and has you wondering what's going to happen next. I can easily see me shutting myself away on release date and just getting totally lost in the story! I can't wait for the release
