It was a quick, sexy read. It was fun for the mood I was in. I liked it alot and I recommend. It gave fifty shades of grey and I enjoyed it.
I attempted to read this book because I don't not like to DNF. However I will be giving this book a 2 star review.
I received an advanced copy of this love story, all thoughts are honest and mine alone.
I got just a little way into this and promptly put it down. I've never DNF;d something so fast in my life.
I have NEVER been so annoyed reading a point of view in my LIFE.
This character, Keke, was immediately immature to me. Maybe I should have read further to see if that changed, but I mentally could not.
I understand that the character's culture added to this next thing.....but I don't know of any grown ass woman that calls her friends homies. I'm sorry.
Second, I can CLEARLY see the author's political stance on things through this writing. That isn't a bad thing to some, but I don't like seeing it in my fiction because it is irrelevant to the relationships. Especially Romance.
I am not impressed with anything that I read, other than the acknowledgements.......
This is a good book. The two main characters are Keisha and Tristan. Keisha is trying to start up a record store. Tristan owns an investment firm. Keisha goes to meet with Tristan to get him to invest in her store. He does invest in her store. There is an attraction between them. They have issues but together they work them out.
I wasn’t overly impressed with this. It gave me series Fifty Shades of Grey vibes. A lot of the events that took place reminded me of Christian and Anna - almost felt like a copy but with a few bits and pieces changed.
I tore through it. It was a quick, sexy read.

You will enjoy this. It was a little too close to FSOG for me.
I found Tristan quite unlikeable… I don’t know if that was the intention but I found it hard to relate to him or even like him. He is very sex-driven and I found him very closed off.
Keisha was a little naive and childish for me in this. I think if she acted a little more mature and grown up I’d have LOVED her.
Thank you to @netgalley, La Vernae Simone and BooksGoSocial for this #arc
Beautifully written, compelling and thought provoking, I was drawn by the cover and blurb, not one I would normally read but I’m glad I did, im recommending this to my friends as I’d love to chat about this to others, thanks to net galley for the advanced copy.
Not for me, but if you like 50 shades I think this may have started off as a fanfiction and maybe worth reading. I was turned off by the main character using an anti-trans slur and the love interest being misogynistic very early on. The writer has a strong voice but I couldn't get into it for those reasons.
Tristan is the money. Keisha is the talent and heart. In order to get the money to help their recording studio, Keisha must submit to Tristan's proposal. A very indecent proposal. A really enjoyable read, well written and the characters are so alive!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this copy. The opinion here is solely my own.
I wish I did not have to do this... But this has to be a negative review for me. This book is a re-make of a story that has already been told, with a few changes. Let's see if you can tell which one.
We meet Keisha who is trying to keep her business afloat during the pandemic and decides to turn to investors to keep her dream alive. Her best friend and partner is the business savvy one, but when they get the chance to meet one of the biggest investors in music (that's the field they are in), the friend is out of town and convinces Keisha to go alone. She gives her pointers and talking points. When Keisha steps into Tristan's office, she is smitten, but also senses danger. Tristan wastes no time showing his interest with Keisha on a personal level. They are interrupted when Tristan is told he has another meeting to go to and Keisha forgets her purse in his office. Following that first encounter, he randomly shows up at her part-time job and shops for things he needs i.e. garter belts and blindfolds. They get interrupted by a co-worker who lets her know she has to go on break because she had a dinner date with her cousin. Sounds familiar yet?
During her first time in Tristan's office, Keisha caught the eye of another investor that she decides to pursue instead. She end us in a bar and after a few drinks starts feeling fuzzy. It just so happens that Tristan is there because he owns the spot and saves her as an idiot tries to take advantage of her. She passes out in his arms and wakes up in a beautiful location with water on the bed side, Tylenols and fruits and she is wearing completely different clothes. Cue to Tristan who walks into the room tells her he will find out if something was slipped in her glass and has a new proposition for her. Still not familiar?
Breakfast are made by the governess, the threat of making her ass purple if she was "his", and an NDA later Tristan now wants to show Keisha something, a room that he calls his role-play room. Keisha learns that Tristan is a Dom, knows nothing of his world, tries to run away but has amazing vanilla sex with him instead, and suddenly kind of likes when he slaps her butt. You got it now?
This book sounds like a tweaked version of Fifty Shades. The only thing that has been changed is the fact that Keisha is Afro Latina and Tristan is caucasian, which now introduces an undertone of slavery. Because Keisha cannot in her right mind let a white man beat her. Tristan pulls a dollar tree psychoanalysis and shows her how her upbringing will make her the best sub and now she is intrigued.
Having read all the Fifty Shades and being one person who still watched the movies regularly, I couldn't help but feel like this was a Christian and Ana rip off. It is not as original as it wants to be and there is nothing added in my opinion that would put this book on the same level as the best selling trilogy.
It was an overall good book but it lacked something for me.... I don't know what it was though.... I would of liked more details maybe....
I had high hopes for this book and while it was okay - I just couldn’t seem to couldn't connect with the characters. While a fast moving story, which I usually love, I couldn’t follow along.
So appreciated the friendship between Keisha and Jada, but I just didn't care about the romance. The female characters were well written, and engaging. Unfortunately, I just didn't care for the way that Tristan was such a rescuer in all facets.
The King of the Loop by La Vernae Simone.
The White Brothers Series, #1.
The King of The Loop meets the Queen of His Heart. Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with billionaire venture capitalist Tristan White, and are thrust into a world beyond their wildest imaginations.Lured by Tristan White and his offer of fronting the capital for her business in exchange for an indecent proposal, of sorts, Keisha finds herself with no other option. Tortured by demons from her past, Keisha's inability to come to terms with them threatens to undermine the future of her business and her tumultuous, unconventional relationship with Tristan White.
A good read. Likeable story and characters. 3*.
I didn’t really like this book. I thought I did at first but it was way to slow. I didn’t like the banter between the characters. Everything seemed fake to me.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story was engaging, characters well developed. The writer had me invested in their story write away. The only thing about the entire book I was less happy with was the references to other movies and scenes. I understand she loves movies as I do as well. But not everyone will get those references and it may have served the audience better to describe her action rather than take my imagination to a different place. Again well written and definitely recommend.
I. Am. Addicted. To. This. Story.
I absolutely love all the fire in Keisha! Tristan is yum. I just….want more.
The story has great flow. The characters are just so real even with a billionaire and a professional athlete. I want to join Sunday dinner after church. I can’t wait for more!
I’m always up for new authors and books But I just could not get into this book. The story
One basically two friends, Keisha and Jada are starting a new business and Jaffa can’t make meeting with a potential big money investor. Keisha goes instead. He makes business demands if he is going to invest, Keisha says no…accuse him as racist and he propositions her for a physical relationship for him to invest. They enter into BDSM relationship. This novel is not a standalone. I tried to like the novel but I felt like there were so many social commentaries that were unnecessary to the story that it put me off…..Covid, masking , proof of vaccination, Mr White…and the White brothers-it seemed like because they were white.
